  • So it was time to change the oil in the Fz the other day, so I made a video. It takes very little time and minimal effort to do an oil change on most bikes and they're generally the same process, with a bit extra finaglin' on some.
Like I say in the video, you'll find a variety of opinions on the "right oil" to use, just use your best judgement and base that off of what's actually reccommended for your bike.

3rd year I’m coming back to this and I jumped the gun thinking I way over filled it and spent 30 min quickly draining by hand (oily af) then checking 😂thank you !

Think I slightly over filled mine? Took it for an hour spin. Come back let it settle for a minute or 2 then the oil level is very slightly over the max line. Not enough to damage anything tho.

Do you have to take off exhaust to take oil pan off

Robert Dowell I’d imagine that you would need to pull the exhaust to replace the whole oil pan.

Joe Axh 🤷🏻‍♂️ Fuel Injector maybe? Honestly not super mechanically bike savvy. I stick with the basics.

If hes hearing ticking beside the ticking , then he has some serious issues

Should really use new oil to lube the filter gasket, not the end of the world as long as no particulates in old oil

And after running it you need to give the oil time to to back down to get a proper level reading. Sighting it as soon as you shut it off, there will still be oil up and throughout the engine… I’m no motorcycle mechanic by any means but assuming same as with car oil changes …I’m sure it’ll be close enough as long as not filling to the top Right after shutting off the bike, then there’d be a very good probability of overfilling it

Yeah, you should do those things. I always dip my finger in old oil and lube it up, worth mentioning it in the video next time. Letting it cool off and the oil settle is goooood to do too
