I fall in love, hahaha your system is amazing. As much as I dream of organising myself as you do, it is impossible to believe my mind will ever be so structured. Great video. Thank you.
So nice to have productivity advice delivered in a sensible, pleasant way. It's wonderful people get so excited about the whole thing, but I just wanted some thoughtful advice, and this was just so nice to find.
Thanks for your video. This was super helpful in how people actual use it. So many people just show you how to set up minimal things for the barely getting started.
Would be great to see this get more views and positive votes. I've watched 4 other OmniFocus 3 videos prior to stumbling across this one. This is the best one by far!
Wow, this is very thorough, thank you. I've been looking for a video much like this. I feel so validated in my excessive creation and use of tags. This gives me so much inspiration on how to expand and dial my task organization. thank you!
Fantastic work Kendra! I too have been looking for a setup that makes sense to my brain and think I have found it! I look forward to learning more about perspectives and especially implementation and building consistency.....Clear mind...ommmmm.
Great video. Have you tweaked your omnifocus workflow since this video? It would be great to see an updated video now that omnifocus 4 was just released. There’s not many videos about this release for some reason? Thanks!
Very cool! Thanks! It gave me an idea for tags. I will group them in: Where (locations) | When (week days) | What (work and personal in own groups) | How (focused, grind, creative, brandend)
Great video! I'm one of those people that have dabbled with a TON of different systems; thus, I don't TRUST any system so I quit using them and/or just get spread out all of the place until I have to quit using them. I'm trying to get a new system fully setup and in use so that I can start GTD! Am I the only one wondering if you have a written outline of all the hierarchies that you have (folders, projects, TAGS, and PERSPECTIVES)? I have to say...I think your system is genius no matter who you are, but all of your emoticons making it pretty will definitely help me really use it!
There is some functionality (visually) to using the emoticons, but its mostly cause it keep me using it - I'm motivated by colors and fun things like that! I do have an outline of sorts - I actually keep a mind map of those areas to help visualize and see how things connect together. Mindmaps are a great tool when trying to structure this stuff - I'm working on one right now (also said on another reply to you too) that I'm working on a note taking system and its been a lot of diagrams trying to figure out the flow on those!
Thank you, great videos. I am struggling on how you handle repeat items that you said make up a large part of your items. If you have it set to repeat an item weekly, do you till tag with the planning tags like today? Sorry I am new to OmniFocus and I am trying to learn a system that works, and yours fits how I think.
So I stole this idea from someone else that I saw, but they put [ ] around all single action lists, and then I use { } around all routine lists. Because I have so many routines in OF, I really like to be able to pul those out separately so it gives me a nice way to use that as a text filter in the perspective setup or just a visual queue when I'm searching and assigning a project to something!
Eyyy awesome video 👌🏻 I’ve been using Things as my daily driver for a long time, but recently switched over to OmniFocus. I find your setup really useful and the way you sort/think about your tasks. I have one question for you… How would you go about sorting/organizing say your kids into your system? (in my case, three kids). Folders/tags. Or if you had included them at all? Thank you 😊
Great question! I don't have kids, just dogs so I'll let you know how I kinda think of that lol. I actually use a tag for "dog" and pretty much everything under dog in the project side would live under the "family folder" since its family related. For me, to go in my family project folder, it needs to be something for the family or with the family (play with kids, go to the park with the dog, family trip, etc.). Then I build a perspective for anything tagged with dog because some tasks might naturally end up under other projects, but would depend on what you want to see when you view a particular "kid". For example, if you have a task to do a college fund planning for Jill (hopefully that isn't actually one of your kids names otherwise that sounded really creepy lol), then I would put a task for Jill under my finance project to "evaluate college planning". Now if I only want to see that task when I'm in the mindset of doing stuff for finances, I probably wouldn't tag it with Jill also, cause when I go to the perspective of Jill maybe I only want to see things that I can do with Jill (not for Jill). But if your purpose is just to see system wide what are the things you have for a certain child, then you would tag it with Jill.Hopefully that makes sense. I should have another perspective video up soon and I share some different ones I have (including the dog one) that might give some ideas too!
@@kendrasproductivity848 thank you very much 😊 I keep some of your advice. I’m going to set up OF from scratch agen. So I’m in no hurry. And I literally waiting for OF4 (beta) on iOS. I hope it will solve some of my problems/tapping around 🤫
I am :) I use to work for Apple, so it runs deep! Hopefully though for anyone who isn't as Apple centric a lot of the same principals can carry over to really any app or setup you might use. I only know what I know, but hopefully it sparks something for people to integrate into what they use on their own!
Your calmness is in another level! Really enjoyed your video.

Greatness! You've given me so many ideas. Thank you for going into so much detail about your system.
Wow can't say how much I love this video. About to watch all of your videos!
I'm your 100th subscriber :) Great videos. I love the logic of your setup.
Thank you so much!
Really impressive set up! Thanks for sharing :)

wow.....you're really organized! #goals!

This is awesome. Can’t wait to deep dive in perspectives!!

Love how thorough your videos are. Would love to see more about your thought process behind setting up your perspectives.
Thanks for sharing this overview of your system-- it was very helpful!

very great and helpful for the productivity improvement, looking forward to more uploads.
Do you have a course on setting up Omnifocus?
REALLY AMAZING VIDEO!!!
love this. note: it would be a lot easier to see this if you used Dark Mode

This is soooo dope.

Love your setup and use of OF! What's the significance of your project names being enclosed in { } or [ ] ?
So I stole this idea from someone else that I saw, but they put [ ] around all single action lists, and then I use { } around all routine lists. I skipped around in the video, but is there no calendar view where you can see all your tasks blocked out or kanban view?
Please which to do list app would u recommend ?

So. Good. Subscribed. Bell.
How long has it taken you to build these concepts into Omni?
So, it's really more of a "life manager" than a task manager...yes?
omg
