@@dayangmarikit6860 I don't think he meant that kind of sweetness. I think what he's pointing to is the fruity flavor, my guess would be the ripe tomatoes.

You're the first ever food reviewer to ever do Kare-kare right! Great instinct on using the shrimp the way you did because that's how you eat kare-kare with it. I've seen someone add a dollop of shrimp paste to a bite and complained that the whole thing wasn't good. I eat sinigang the same way you did!

When you ate the sinigang with rice I was like "yeah! finally someone who understands!". Thank you for another great video man. Always for some Filipinos we like to have a dipping sauce for our sinigang as well, me and my family use a fishsauce + bird's eye chili and dip the pork and some of the veggies from the sinigang

Soup on rice, sauce over rice is a filipino thing.
    Try out:
    - Bicol Express(Pork Stew made from chilis, coconut milk)
    - Bistek tagalog(Soy/Calamansi based beef stew with lots of onions)
    - Chicharon Bulaklak( Deep friend Pork Instestine, Paired nicely with a cold beer)
    - Beef Bulalo( Beef Shank Soup with Cabbage, Perfect for the cold weather)
    - Chicken Inasal ( Marinated Grilled Chicken in Calamansi, Vinegar, Lemom Grass, Ginger and other spices.)

  • @TheOriginalRick
    @TheOriginalRick Год назад +2

We use the Instant Pot electronic pressure cooker for cooking the oxtail for kare kare. It makes it so tender, and gives us a silky, deep broth to use with the stew. Plus it cuts the cooking time down from about three hours to just one. Some use the IP to finish it also, but we have found it is just as easy to finish on a separate pot on the stove top. The only issue we have with it is how much peanut butter to put in, Mrs. Rick likes a bit more than I do.
Caldereta is very good also, but we like it better with goat. Beef is more than acceptable, though. Mrs. Rick likes salmon belly/heads best in her sinigang, but I like pork ribs better. As for breakfast, any day that starts out with garlic fried rice on the plate is going to be a good day. 😁😁
When I married a young, 20 year old Filipina back in 1974 I didn't quite realize the lifelong culinary adventure I was setting sail on. Our kids are now teaching their kids how to enjoy and cook the many foods their momma taught them while growing up. Another generation who now understand and appreciate the food of the Philippine Islands.

Yess bro you perfectly pronounce the names of each. Im impress with your taste buds because its true.. there is a peanut butter on the kare-kare and the shrimp paste(bagoong) used to cut a little greasy taste of the peanut butter. The vinegar on the tapsilog is optional. Lastly, tamarind is used for sinigang. And the sisig is always a W. I wish you also have kalamansi or mango juice. Thank you bro. Siningang and rice combination is the best! I think water spinach isn't available there, but when it's done in the Philippines, it's super sour. And ys, it's tamarind. Typically, it has pork, water spinach, onions, tomatoes, okra, gabi and radish) and it's not supposed to be sweet. Maybe it's the cabbage that gave a little sweet taste to it.

Im wondering if you would like diniguan. Growing up and been to the auction and picking out a pig and butchering ourselves. I loved the whole process. Chocolate meat brings back so many memories of my grandparents house. My grandfather had a table with riverrock on bottom with a pvc drain and 2 55gallon drum bbq pits with woks. We also had a huge sharpening stone on the side. I miss my youth. Rip grandpa macario ray ray Rapisura.

Thank you for doing your homework before filming it. You can blindly react to our food even if you research about it first. There are a lot of youtubers trying Filipino food and don't have any idea what they're eating or how they're eating our food. They're just posting vids for clout. They know that they'll get tones of view and react if you put filipino on the title. I hope they respect our culture just like you do.
Try bicol express also, laing. Dishes with coconut milk/cream. And for garlic fried rice, the best combination with that is fried bangus (milkfish) then red egg and some tomatoes. Yum yum yum

Amazing review as always. Each food is good on its own. Sinigang is best super warm over warm rice, when it's extra sour with fatty pork and sticky potato in it. and Tamarind is correct! Great video!

Found your channel a few weeks ago and myGod have you turned into one of my favorite food channels, and perhaps just a favorite channel in general. there's something about your content that isnt overly exaggerated but also really entertaining in what type of foods you eat and the format of the full video and shorts you do.
    Thanks for making great content

Kare-kare, caldereta, and sinigang usually tastes better with plain rice because the flavor of the garlic rice would clash with the flavor of those three mentioned. You need the blandness of plain rice to give more room for y our tongue to taste the kare-krae, caldereta, and sinigang. And when eating kare-kare, you need to add a shrimp paste called "bagoong", it enhances the flavor of the kare-kare.

I just got done watching your other video and I guess you already know the comments because you pretty much answered everything I commented. But yes, kare kare does have peanut butter and yes it has shrimp paste (bagoong) on the side to mix with it for extra umami and saltiness. You just need a filipina for a wife to make you all that food... LOL. I make my kaldareta differently. I add coconut milk to it. That's the way my aunt taught me. I also don't add liver paste to it. Yes it's tamarind in the sinigang.
