Here in the Philippines, we use calamansi instead of lemon to put on dishes like pansit palabok and sisig. Personally, I notice the difference when you put lemon or calamansi, and I have to say, calamansi is so much better. You can only imagine how good the food here taste like with local calamansi.

The thing about Filipino food is that majority of it uses pork. We've made cooking pork into an art form here in the islands. There are halal Filipino dishes though they don't get as much exposure. Our Muslim brothers and sisters living in the Mindanao island group to the south of the country have their own halal dishes that share their roots with Indonesian, Malaysian and Bruneian cuisine.

I wish we had the level of quality & caliber of Filipino Food here in Southern AZ that you guys have in Jersey. Mexican, Latino, Hispanic & Spanish Food we have tons of options. We even have a large number of East Asian Indian, Chinese, Japanese, Thai & Vietnamese Food here too but really no good places for high quality Filipino Food, unfortunately. We have a small to mid-sized Filipino Community of a few thousand Filipinos but not big enough to support a great Filipino restaurant. I wish we had a Mama Fina like you guys have in Jersey. I probably have to drive a couple hours to Phoenix, Vegas or California for decent Filipino Food in this region of the country. It's sad because we have a metro population of about 750K to 1million people here in Tucson but still no Jollibee restaurant or next level higher quality Filipino restaurant. We even have more than a couple Tropical 🐠🍹 Jamaican & a Brazilian restaurant & an array of Italian restaurants in addition to a Peruvian & African Food spot. I think we have 1 Filipino Food place in the Food Court @ the local Mall, which is "okay" tasting & slightly above average & then another Filipino restaurant which is hit or miss but not all that impressive. 2 little places but neither of them really all that great. We really need something like a "Mama Finas" in our area, desperately!

Hope that you enjoyed your stay here in the 520 area code, even though it was just 1 night. Come back to town if you ever get a chance. My grandpa always told me "Everything tastes better with calamansi". You could literally put calamansi on anything whether if it's savory or sweet, it will always add to the flavor.

King. Please stop using plastic utensils and choking up on them like your bunting in a baseball game! Get rid of the floppy plastic! Silverware!

I'm from the philippines, love watching your reactions of our food, but if you really want to experience sisig more, we usually make sauces to pair with sisig especially soy sauce and calamnsi, lemon has a bit more strong acidity than calamnsi and tastes a bit more different, you should try looking for calamnsi then mix it with soy sauce and some small chili peppers.

You need to see if your Filipino restaurant has dinuguan. That is 🔥. It comes with white rice with cili peppers and served a puto. Which is basically filipino corn bread. It is fire 🔥.

Sisig 👑is also a quintessential #BeerFood 🍺Pair that with a San Miguel Beer or Red Horse Beer... and you're good.

Slurping food in many Asian countries, specially noodles, are not only to cool down the food, but also considered as a compliment to the cook for a good food. People shouldn’t have to apologize for the slurping, as long as they don’t smack lips while chewing because it is considered as pigly. That’s the sound pigs make when eating lol. To me slurping is better than lip smacking chews so go on and slurp it up bro.
