Excellent Video and tutorial. More than just learning about the plugin, I learned a lot about EQ'ing electric guitar! Thanks for a great, no BS, video!
Just finding this review. I purchased Guitarstrip, Vocal Strip 2 and Drumstrip for like $20 each, so i felt like it was a steal. I started with using SSL Channel Strip 2, and decided how much i actually loved their products. Great, thorough review and like someone else said, great example for EQing guitars. Thanks!
Signal flow: When EQ PRE-POST is switched out (EQ is 'pre'): High-Pass > ( Phase Correction > EQ > Compressor > Drive ) When EQ PRE-POST is switched in (EQ is 'post'): High-Pass > ( Phase Correction > Compressor > Drive > EQ )
Thank you for explaining each section so thoroughly while testing each feature, your explanations are clear and to the point. Great tutorial, and I also feel like I've learned a ton about mixing just from listening to this review. Normally I see tutorials over 20 mins and expect the bulk of it to be self-promotion and waffle, but I was pleasantly surprised how you got into the tutorial from the get-go, your knowledge is clearly backed by years of experience. Will defininitly be investing in this plugin while it's still in the black friday sale. Subscribed, looking forward to seeing (and hearing) more from your channel!
Essentially it allows you to refine the phase relationship between multiple sources across the frequency spectrum. Here's a little bit from the manual: What is an all-pass filter? The concept of an all-pass filter is that unlike typical filters used to boost or cut the gain of particular frequencies, it only changes the phase relationship across the frequencies of the signal. When should I use an all-pass filter? Whenever a signal is passed through an amplifiers, loudspeakers, mic - or any time that sound has propagated through a medium such as air - then the phase response is rarely flat. What this means, is that different frequencies of the signal will be delayed by a different amount. For example, the higher frequencies may arrive sooner than lower frequencies. In this case, applying a DELAY across all frequencies, or using the PHASE INVERT, will likely fix phase issues at some frequencies, and not others. This is where the ALL-PASS filter comes in.

Thanks Mike! I’m pumped you dig the review. Thanks for checking it out!
@@mr_bradsmith I just purchased the GuitarStrip. Maybe SSL should give you a "finder's fee"! 😀
@@mikemccormick1624 Haha! That would be awesome! Let me know how you find it. Especially if you're doing some tracking with it!

Brad, turn of the tool tips and you will be able to see the values on the screen when you turn he pots.
Awesome! Thanks for the tip!
what's the all pass do?

Seems similar to the Phase Center Hi/Lo function on the Little Labs IBP box!
@@mr_bradsmith no idea what that is?
It's a phase alignment tool. Universal Audio makes a plugin version of it! www.littlelabs.com/products/ibp
