I feel Cry could legitimately make a game. Like, jokes aside, he tried game maker, he tried RPG Maker, he plays tons of games, he is passionate about games, I feel he could make a game if he had enough time and energy.
with true passion and love, i am sure anyone could create an amazing game. alas, cry likes to fuck around instead. that's alright too. witnessing cry manifest himself is entertaining as well, as always.
LOL I mean you do learn over time as you learn to not repeat mistakes but in the beginning you're either like "WHY WONT THIS WORK" or "WHY DID THAT WORK"
Did Cry get a new mic? He sounds clearer and his golden pipes sound deeper. How the hell can that voice get sexier??? I don't even know...~throws hands in the air~ what is life?!
Maybe it's the fact that I'm in bed while watching this, but this video is calming as fuck. The campfire background sounds combined with Cry's serene voice. Magnifique.
This is kinda fun to watch. This program reminds me somewhat of Scratch...just way more complicated. I know some coding (been learning the basics of how to code/use Graphical user interfaces in python recently, still in high school) and seeing Cry get all exicted at making his character move is just adorable ^^
TEH relentlez cry still wants to make an anime he just wants to know how much would it cost to be made decently and he needs to be in the mood for making an anime...how do we get him into the mood I have no idea
i know that Cry has considered going with game design for quite some time now, but didn't think he had the talent to do it (r.i.p. Tales of Balken). I would love to see him go somewhere with it. On top of that, I've always had aspirations of game programming, myself - although I'm currently focusing on building my repetoire of comics and theory videos. It has been a dream of mine to help Cryaotic work on a game for quite some time, and I would totally be willing to help him out if he wanted.
Dude, Cry. I was just like : "Man, I haven't watched a Cryaotic video in ages. I wonder what he's doing." And looky here, this video pops up on the youtube frontpage.
I realized my mistake after drawing out Marth was 'wait, Marth speaks Japanese. Fuck it he's pretending to be Ike now'. A happy little accident, like my niece.
There are some astounding tutorials for Game Maker on RUclips! Y + 4 equals the floor! I'll be starting my university corse on game design this year and I'm super excited to get started! One day I'll polish my art and code skills to the point where I can match Cry! Senpai will notice me one day (ALSO CRY PLEASE NAME ALL YOUR ASSETS FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS BUGFIXING)
The last time I used a programming language everything had to be done with code. Literally everything. This looks SO much better. It's so beautiful I almost want to cry.
"What constitutes as a good game? Kay I need a good story, you need an objective, a goal to accomplish, an obstacle, good character development, some dank loot... So we're gonna make smash brothers." Loool
well i haven't really tried any visual scripting myself (seen a friend of mine do it). I prefer writing your own because then you're only more or less limited by what you can write yourself, instead of being limited by what someone else has written (i think).
By writing your own script, you are also training yourself to be more proficient and versatile with the language, instead of limiting your skills to a visual scripting program.
All I can say is don't push yourself at the start, don't assume that you're gonna be able to make the next AAA title straight away cause that just ain't gonna happen, you're just gonna be setting yourself up to fail and you'll lose your motivation quickly. Make simple and small challenges with basic mechanics to gently introduce yourself to the way things work (or the way things don't work). At the start of your course (or for as long as you need), take your time going over every note you've made or handouts you've been given, to make sure you properly understand what things are, what they do, and how to use them (e.g functions, if statements, events etc). Outside of lectures and classes do things like drawing mazes on paper (simple to start then introduce teleport pads and power ups) and getting other people to figure them out, this gets you into the mindset of always getting others to test your game, after all, you created the challenge so your view of it will be biased. When it comes to completing work, just like with other courses, never ever ever leave your assignment until the last minute, you were given 4 weeks to complete it for a reason and even if you think you know exactly how to do it, you never know when something isn't going to work and you can't figure out why (I learnt this the hard way so trust me on this one). If you're passionate about something, that drive and motivation will carry you through all the frustration and confusion. Good luck! I'm sure you'll do amazing :) oh and one last thing, run your game after every small change so errors don't build up, and save your work after everything you do!!
Oh thanks Cry! I studied games development for 3 years at college, if only you had made this video back then. You could have saved me a lot of time and money.
when he was coding the movement for his sprite i got intense flashbacks to the programming class i took in high school....... i spent so much time trying to recreate frogger .....................
I'd actually say Cry's voice got a little higher? Like I think he speaks more comfortably now (+ has a better mic) so we hear the natural tone of his voice a bit more. I'm not sure if that's true though, all I know is I don't find his voice as like ~deep and charming~ as I did when I first started following him. Small edit: The longer I watch this the more I notice he's a bit raspy here though, so he probably just tired his voice out (like in Rock Band)
+_CB_Vlogs_ Bro, he's asked multiple times that people do not spread his name around, so why do you do it? Do you have no respect for his privacy? Cause he's been saying that for years now. I'd maybe sorta get it if you posted this a while ago, but god damn.
I would watch a regular series of this. Hopefully at least some episodes would be prefaced with Cry watching a tutorial, but I still love the idea of a blend of knowledgeable creation and completely, funny fuckery.
it's fun to keep droning out and forgetting the peaceful soothing fire and woodsy noises just for cry to get a little quiet just long enough to re-realize it's there.
Crickets? Naaaaaah. That wouldn't have been why I put the campfire audio track on to cover up outside noises naaaaaah I wouldn't do that. Ignore my sweating brow.

I had a similar experience attempting to use game maker. Its easy once you figure out kinda what the set up of the program is. My first try to make a game didn't work out so great. but eh keep trying and maybe you'll get the hang of it.
"Best game ever made. 10/10" - IGN "The GOTY title doesn't deserve to be given to this game" - Lord Gaben "What the fuck is this shit?" - Every other person "When can we get the sequel?" - Me "What the fuck am I doing with my life?" - Cry
Hey man, would you ever consider bringing back the Cry Reads? By far my favorite series you've done and I really love your voice acting. Just a suggestion if you're up for it, keep up the great work!
Dekuscrub I remember he mentioned a while back that he wasn't enjoying them or the workload of them but when he did want to do one, he couldn't get in contact with the author
"It's 20202017" Jeez, has time gone by.
We're all particles of sand now.
Cryaotic
I don't care what anyone says. This is a fantastic game considering your sand-status.
First German now game making. You truly are a jack of all trades.
I thought it couldn't get better but I was wrong. You sir, are a hero amongst men.
My contribution to this comment will be "But better than a master of one"

Welcome to programming. Nothing ever works. Ever. And you don't know why.

And when it does work...you don't know why.

Today I learned the font Cry uses. It's a good day.
Septicor What's the font :0?
Septicor I would also like to know :o

Alright, just tell me when you have a kickstarter on it, I'll boost you a thousand dollars for no reason , even if your game is made of stickmen
I know it won't happen, but I want this to become a series. Cry Becomes a Designer, you slowly improving your skills and making your game.
For a moment i thought it says Cry Tries to make a baby.
NinjEnesis 14 kinda true, his game is his baby
*Plays Sims
"Buffers? We're not on RUclips yet..actually we are fuck..nevermind"
Does this count as a fourth wall break?
Like kinda??
Greta Niemeier since cry isn't a character and he's aware that he's on RUclips I'd say no but if he were.. yes
When he said "now we are master hackers" the voice in my head convinced me he would be perfect for voicing 707 and now I can't unsee/unhear it
Melissa Chavez OMG I KNOW I literally died balanh
Mel Chavez holy moly ur right😂 welp that just makes the game better😂
Maybe it's the fact that I'm in bed while watching this, but this video is calming as fuck. The campfire background sounds combined with Cry's serene voice. Magnifique.
Cry spent $100 dollars on this.
Let that sink in
Music Banana dude Cry is basically loaded lol
10:36 Bruh I haven't heard that laugh in forever and I smile so big every time I hear it
"Here's the thing...I don't care." I have found new words to live by

Cry is the game designer I aspire to be.
i know that Cry has considered going with game design for quite some time now, but didn't think he had the talent to do it (r.i.p. Tales of Balken). I would love to see him go somewhere with it. "how big are you, what's your thickness,"cry 2017
That low "im kinda impressed..." KiLLED ME MY POOR HEART
I think the only thing I can dislike about his game is that he had Marth say "I fight 4 my friends"
I mean, he was close.
I realized my mistake after drawing out Marth was 'wait, Marth speaks Japanese. Fuck it he's pretending to be Ike now'. A happy little accident, like my niece.
Prince Coda Leviathan j
Cryaotic
"A happy Little Accident, like my niece"
Dang dude.
I'd be down to keep watching Cry make shitty little games as we learn how to use this program together.
This is the best "How to" video I've seen on game making
In half an hour, Cry made a game that's better than 80% of Early Access games on Steam.
I have a feeling the "Campfire Sound" is actually a small fire that he set to the woods, because he's actually bigfoot with a computer.
proud of you bby
I'm sobbing bc at the beginning Cry wrote "color the green" when he meant "the color green" idk why this is so funny to me
I'm part of a games development course at college and my group made a game on gamemaker about a muscular demonic kitty cat. I hope we take it to E3.
There are some astounding tutorials for Game Maker on RUclips! Y + 4 equals the floor!

Wow, that was a very relaxing video. I never realized how truly relaxing campfire sounds are. Thank you, Cry.
I mean if you mute it, it looks like you know what you're doing.
Katanawing that's entirely debatable
I've been using game maker for a while and, er, I forgot this sort of creative talent existed
jackawaka CREATIVITY
As a person studying game development, i facepalmed a lot at this. Still very amusing seeing Cry trying out visual scripting :D
What is better, write your own if possible, or use the visual scripting?
well i haven't really tried any visual scripting myself (seen a friend of mine do it). I prefer writing your own because then you're only more or less limited by what you can write yourself, instead of being limited by what someone else has written (i think).
By writing your own script, you are also training yourself to be more proficient and versatile with the language, instead of limiting your skills to a visual scripting program.
is it hard? :V
do you really cry every night before your sleep like that one guy told me?
I have around 3.5 years of coding experience, so watching this was a bit frustrating for me as well x D
As a game developer, this warms my heart.
Such an artist! Such grace! Such beauty!
as a game design student I can assure you this is exactly how making a game is
Vavvi Really? I'm starting my course this year and I'm pretty nervous! Any tips for a greeny little kiwi like myself?
All I can say is don't push yourself at the start, don't assume that you're gonna be able to make the next AAA title straight away cause that just ain't gonna happen, you're just gonna be setting yourself up to fail and you'll lose your motivation quickly. "Color the green"
Welp, my 9 years of studying English is wasted
"Do things in the past that will help you in the future" great advice
Oh, look. Half-Life 3 is confirmed. Cry is on it.
As someone who has a bit of experience designing games, I can say this is 10000% accurate lol. The sprite slowly getting bigger killed me XD
Won't be long till Pewdiepie plays this and calls it THE GREATEST GAME OF ALL TIME!
Accurate facts.
This was a pleasure to watch, you have to give this a try again! loved it!
I'm supposed to get up and function and do proper adult stuff.
But staying in bed and watching this awesomeness is so tempting
I feel you so much. I don't wanna adultulate.
Kyurae Minasaki I just finished adulting.
I'm back, Cry, I'm back for good
Oh thanks Cry! I studied games development for 3 years at college, if only you had made this video back then. You could have saved me a lot of time and money.
when he was coding the movement for his sprite i got intense flashbacks to the programming class i took in high school....... i spent so much time trying to recreate frogger .....................
abbi buchanan Haha I know the feeling
Honestly, the story to this game is so damn emotional and compelling...I cried like a baby.
its been a while since I heard Cry's Voice. Did it get a lot deeper?
deckire as he said, just a better quality mic
He also sang in Rock Band 4 again the other night. "Dragula" on hard mode was, surprisingly, hard.
Well, it's kinda hard to notice gradual change until you compare the past to the present. Sooo...maybe
Puberty.
as a game developer myself i laugh so hard at this
ty cry
Next: "Cry Tries 3D animation"?
"Do things in the past that would help you in the future." I'll remember that.
I remember you saying you were 25 years old 2 years ago but now you say it's 27? Which one is it Cry, if that's even your real name?
nymphetamine fix Can't tell if you're really dumb or trolling
Kaye Yeo I think it was one of them jokes
its ryan
+_CB_Vlogs_ Bro, he's asked multiple times that people do not spread his name around, so why do you do it? Do you have no respect for his privacy? Cause he's been saying that for years now. I'd maybe sorta get it if you posted this a while ago, but god damn.
some people have no tact
Bless the Cry video, I be sick. Cry give smiles.
Welcome to the world of frustration and fun we call programming Cry
Ghostdre 99 bugs in the code, 99 little bugs, take one down, patch it around 103 bugs in the code
pffftttthahahahaha couldn't explain it any better XD
cry you're awesome, you made me happy when I'm sad and sick, so thank you so much
Cant wait to play this game on VR! What a wonderful game!
Can't wait to see this in VR. Cry, the future of game creation lies with you.
Green is not a creative color
.....get me reference... no?...
I'll go home.
Thats old
You mean the reference everyone else is making?
Let's get creative!
*shudders
As a 10 year veteran of GM:S one and a new user of GM:S2, this was brilliant to watch
When Cry draws better than you.
*silently sobs in a corner*
Make a drawing tutorial plz Cry.
I would watch a regular series of this. Hopefully at least some episodes would be prefaced with Cry watching a tutorial, but I still love the idea of a blend of knowledgeable creation and completely, funny fuckery.
his laugh is literally the best, omg
This is my new favorite video. His voice, the education, the charisma, the quality. Perfection.
Hey cry, remember that one unfinished RPG Maker game that you made? Yeah me too.
After a long day with work and uni, this is definitely what I needed to watch to feel better! xD Nice job, Cry.
"My voice cracked. I'm 27 years old. WTF is wrong with me?" -Cry 2017
I love how cry tries to drag the background around lol
best game ever, i know without watching the vid, i have faith in Cry.
it's fun to keep droning out and forgetting the peaceful soothing fire and woodsy noises just for cry to get a little quiet just long enough to re-realize it's there.
cry tries is a good series
Jrist I agree.
when your an animator and you are amazed by cry's excitement over a walking cycle, lol :3
I member the game Cry made in RPG maker back in 2009
Cry, you sound/look like you're having fun. Go you dude. 👍
Are those crickets outside from the audio?
Crickets? Naaaaaah. That wouldn't have been why I put the campfire audio track on to cover up outside noises naaaaaah I wouldn't do that. Ignore my sweating brow.
HAHAHA love you dude
If you ask me, it worked out harmoniously.
Bailey Sellers the South has a bajillion crickets everywhere so I bet
ok but cry, i jus wanted to say that i love this content a lot more than your older stuff!!!!!dont get me wrong i love your old playthroughs but i feel like this type of thing makes me a lot happier and its more fun i think.,.,.,.,ily
I'm getting serious flashbacks to my game development &3d modeling class w this vid man
Good flashbacks or nah?
Both. I hated animation the most
man, as an aspiring author I am so inspired by the way you plot your games. this is so cool :D
I've actually been learning how to use the game maker 1 engine in school so seeing this video is a little weird and cool
Jacob Strenkowski what school do you go to and how come we got Alice instead?
Rory More I go to a public school in PA that has a small variety of programming classes mostly including python, JavaScript, HTML, and a few others
ooooooo, do more game making! its so much fun watching a genius at work!
WHY AM I SO IN LOVE WITH YOUR VOICE
AstroGal Because you are like the rest of us?
one of us... one of us...
Rory More LOLL true!!
I had a similar experience attempting to use game maker. Its easy once you figure out kinda what the set up of the program is. My first try to make a game didn't work out so great. but eh keep trying and maybe you'll get the hang of it.
"do things in the past to help you in the future" Has anyone got a Time Machine that I can use please?!
sigh nah, he is recording this in the past so I'm actual fact he means the present you.
Don't forget the most important part of making a game Cry! removing half the content to sell at a later date.
