    This video was awesome! ❤ Loved seeing David play with Billy again. It was a very warm and heartfelt reunion. I know Billy always praises David's playing on this song, but in lieu of David's passing yesterday, this is the perfect song. "This is the time to remember, though it will not last forever. These are the days to hold on to, but we won't, although we'll want to." RIP DB, you were a magnificent guitarist and a very integral part of Billy's sound and songs. His songs during your time in the band would not be what they are without your skills. 😇🎸

    Great performance on a beautiful song! In fact, this was my Senior Prom song! Nice to see Dave play with Billy again. To think, I just saw Dave play as part of a trio in his hometown of Gloucester, MA in front of a small restaurant crowd. Excellent guitarist, and an even better gentleman! He was kind enough to sign my Storm Front record, as well as the Julian Lennon record he played on. RIP, David.

    all the other guys in Billy Joel's band have a Wikipedia page... only David doesn't have one, i guess he likes to lay low.

    David's a great friend and musical treasure here in Gloucester Mass.
    You can find him playing regularly here in town, I think that grin on David's face speaks volumes of being able to reuinite on that stage with Billy! Bravo...

    David absolutely killed it up there…such a phenomenal player, lucky to call him a friend…as down-to-earth as he is talented. The beauty of his playing has always been his control of the syncopation and rhythm. Billy sounds great too, vocally on par with where he was 20+ years ago (go watch the videos from this year of him singing An Innocent Man live).

    Fun fact: David was only there to watch the show. Tommy Byrnes threw David on stage for this song, no rehearsals, it was a surprise to the band.

      Fun fact - that's complete cap!
      The REAL story (according to the man himself) is that he initially went to NY for his daughters' birthdays, and then decided it would be a good opportunity to play with his old boss. He's the one who got in touch with the management to make this happen.

    • @jasonw6688

      @parsak.sadjadi3763 that makes more sense considering how tight David's playing was on this performance after not being in Billy's band for 31 years.

      @@jasonw6688Dave Brown could play like this any time, any place, no rehearsal necessary. He was my bandmate for several years and I’ve never heard the cat play a bad or even inappropriate note. To say he had “big ears” is a great understatement. He had remarkable skills.

    A critique of this song had been written in the New York Times back in the 80s after it was first recorded. The critique described the guitar arrangement and playing as "exquisite". I can't think of a more accurate description. Great work, David Brown.

    David was my ticked to get to hang back stage with the guys. We went to the same high school. He was two years older but his brother was one of my friends. I got to go on the beer run for Billy's fortieth birthday party (well one of them) at David's house in our little town of Merrimac Massachusetts. Forward twenty years and I'm producing original music and i write a piano, horn guitar rocker and all I can think is, this sounds like a Billy song and it needs David Brown. It too me two days to track down an e-mail. He had a studio in Gloucester. I was using a couple guys in NY when I really wanted something hot and I'd get three or four tracks for a hundred to a hundred and fifty bucks. I knew he was worth much more. But how much? I took a chance and asked him if he would consider adding a couple tracks for three hundred. After a few days I figured I'd insulted him. A few days after I was shocked to see a reply. It simply said 'Yes". He crushed it and it's one of best gifts I ever received. The great thing about those guys, including Billy is that they were and still are so down to earth. It warms my heart to see Bill reconnecting with his old mates today.

      Part time fans is a bit harsh considering not everyone is a fanatic.
      Your comment smacks a little of oneupmanship, music snobbery.

    • @DOMSGUITARS6140
      @DOMSGUITARS6140 Год назад +4

      @@seanscanlon9067 Well i wouldnt say its harsh. If u have been a long time fan of Billy,its known that his early band was amazing and its own entity. David Brown was an important part of this and played with Billy a long time. To the casual fan,Dave going up and playing with Billy here is not a big deal but to the long term fan of Billy,this was pure nostalgic gold. Thats not harsh,just a fact. Just means some will have a greater appreciation while others wont
