I was really amazed by the robbery portrayed on the first segment. Stole three millions from the casinos, hurt no one, fool the FBI over and over again, and only arrested Heather because she turned herself in. Those two are a very smart pair.
She decided he wasn't the one and wanted to come back home. Turning herself in was the only way to do it. I'm willing to bet some of that money still's left.
You could almost see sweat forming on Don Dixon's forehead. He stuttered over his words and acted very nervous. Could he and the Sheriff been in on his murder together? Why in the world would you BURN evidence before the case is solved unless you were involved?

Flayywyylesiujslyfe right!! Maybe she didn’t want random people to look her up by her government name. In a lot of cases, however, when you look up the name of the perpetrator in conjunction with the details of the crime committed or the crime itself, the article/docket sheets/etc would give/list her name.
Maybe the sheriff and Don were in on killing Eric Tamiyasu together; he had Don do it, find the body, and then told him to burn the mattresses and bedding to destroy all clues. I don't believe any sheriff would have that done if not for hiding potential incriminating evidence. The sheriff could have been held accountable by telling someone random who just found a body to burn heavy mattresses and bedding in the yard!. What if he had hurt himself or ended up setting something on fire, because it wasn't a small blaze either. The sheriff could have been sued! But it would fit if the two of them were in on it together. And there are companies who clean up crime scenes, NOT the police trying to protect the "feelings" of family members.
Seems like the sheriff got pissed off Eric was messing around with his wife, & was ok with him being killed so helped cover the tracks (& yeah possibly had something to do with his death directly). Don def is who did the deed, most likely for money or some sort of favor to someone. Eric had enemies & I think they all came into play in this particular case. & it’s some of that small town Ish. •As far as Nikki her bf did it. She called him/picked up after she felt uncomfortable at the laundromat. Took him with her to Dalton. He saw a perfect opportunity to do what he did. & staged it knowing her background & that her baby daddy’s was there as well to frame.
You can tell "Laurie" is just a really cool gal that you'd be really drawn to, and is so full of spunk and such an interesting, enjoyable person. The type you'd just really want to be friends with!
Is Laurie's last name Barrymore? I loved her. She is fierce and funny. The way she retold her nightmare with such energy, emotion, and humor thrown in. I am so glad that she made it out alive. She seems like she is a beautiful person - inside and out. I hope she is living life to the fullest.
I DARE ANYONE TO WATCH UNSOLVED MYSTERIES AT NIGHT, ALONE, IN THE DARK...... AND TELL ME YOU WON’T GET CHILLS!!! especially when the theme music plays!!!
Me and my cousin still talk about that to this day. As little kids we used to spend the weekends together and the show would come on at 1 in the morning. I understand where you're coming from. As little kids that show would spook us out. If we weren't together we would always dare each other to watch it by ourselves. I dare you to do it again? LOL!
@@MeanOldBastardBikerBob ROFL! right? "a 9 year old daughter from a previous relationship. Even her ex-boyfriend was happy for her". He didnt say ex-husband, so there is no adoption / stepmom thing going on here. If its her daughter, you are right - preggers at 11 yr old. Sadly, Im not surprised. Some cultres, it is not uncommon for a 13-15 yr old girl to already have a child and be pregnant with another one along the way.
Is anyone else puzzled by the fact that Laurie was bundled out of the bar by a group of men in full view of everyone and nobody did anything? Maybe people did call the cops and the show didn't mention it.
This happens more often than you'd like to know. Just like 2 years ago a woman was raped and assaulted on a train and 30 people saw it happening and did nothing. Some of them even filmed it but no one came to her aide.
OMG, I know Joe Wampler. As a teen in the late 90's I had heard he killed someone who was doing his wife but I never knew there was an Unsolved Mystery episode about it. I'm shook.
Don Dixon sure seem to know a lot about the interactions between Eric and the other 2 suspects. A little too much if you ask me and besides, he had a spare key to Eric's house imo he's very suspicious, almost like trying to divert the authorities attention to the other 2 suspects.
Yep. I thought that. It was Dixon who said about the sheriffs wife ... and also Dixon who mentioned Eric smith and Eric Tamyasu had an arguement the day before he died. Trying to make them look suspicious. I dont think the sheriff was involved but did make a dumb mistake burning the bed before the investigation was concluded.
I love that over confident cop saying crime doesn't pay. Twelve years later Heather turns herself in and the mastermind is still on the loose. LOL Why yes....crime most certainly does pay.
Don Dixon is goofy. He finds Eric dead and immediately thinks to himself it's suicide because he had been depressed about the orchard business and there were no exit wounds? Then tries throwing the sheriff under the bus. I think he had a man crush and was jealous Eric started dating women. Don went over there thinking something between the two could happen and Eric told him to get the hell out and was murdered. Pure speculation here.
Lot's of people get depressed but don't always kill themselves. I was depressed for 2 years because of the job I had at the time, and I hope that if I had of been found dead a thorough investigation would have been conducted - not a lazy suicide explanation given.
Why didn't Niqui get her mum to come with her to pick up the laundry?cause them guys would've know she would've had to come back for it.i think she got abducted as she was hopping into the car.
Three million to enjoy for 12 years and then sentenced to a handful of years....probably got out earlier for good behavior as well. Worth it? If I wasn't a mother I would have done it. Almost as impressive as the fact that they were never caught by the FBI is the fact that they were able to get away with 3 million dollars without using a gun!
Did they ever consider the sheriff's wife as a suspect? She may have been the one snooping around, knocking on the door that night. Jealous that she got dumped. Easy access to guns being married to a cop. Husband suspects that she did it, or even knows, he burns the bed to cover for her. If she was convicted of murder, he could potentially be dragged into it as an accessory or at least obstructing justice.
He trys to point the finger at everyone else. That is the oldest trick in the book. He also wouldn't take a polygraph test he took a private polygraph that was inconclusive. He killed Eric
I saw an update on the Eric Tamiyasu case on a local Washington news video & it was reported that the authorities are now leaning in the direction of Diana Anderson's ex husband as a suspect, as he had a history of violence & of stalking her after their divorce. People have to remember that while watching these UM segments that they downplay or omit altogether some details of the cases they profile, due to time constraints & also to make their "mysteries" more mysterious & exciting to watch & sometimes make the victim more sympathetic too, if needs be. They left out a lot of details in the Sneha Phillips case that could have been relevant to her disappearance. In the Angela Hammond case they left out the fact that she was pregnant at the time of her abduction & had just began her second trimester of pregnancy.
You mean Diana? An ex-husband certainly fits. Though Don Dixon is a little too tied in. Volunteering theories and suspects other than himself (and his wife). You're piece about shows leaving out details because of time restraints or to be more entertaining is something everyone who watches and enjoys true crime has to remain conscious of.
@@refinedsugar really don't think Don Dixon volunteering suspects has any deeper meaning I think Don Dixon is just the type who seeks attention & likes to feel important, as in his everyday life, I doubt that many people give him the time of day I've known many people like him in my life who are general know-it-alls & make themselves the center of attention. That's the impression I get from him. I really don't think there's anything more to him than that. For instance, my sister's ex boyfriend acted a lot like Don Dixon. I remember once a police officer was shot & killed & we were discussing the news story about it (which there was very little details to at the time) and my sister's ex gave this detailed account of how it probably went down, again despite there being very little details released🙄 That's just the type of person Don Dixon reminds me of. Always trying to seem important by involving himself
@@kleeamd8274 You make a good point. Something I didn't really consider when I first saw this segment. I really wish they'd solve this case. Can you provide a link detailing the ex being a strong suspect?
@@IanWhiddett I'm sorry you found my observation offensive; which part exactly was it? It was more a harmless generalization of women of all colours and creed. Some are prettier than others. Specifically, the aboriginal community seems to suffer from a lack of self care and self improvement area where their men and women do not put a lot of effort into appearance. Without going into the whole spiel of beauty is in the eye of the beholder, we're just agree to disagree on that front. My perception of beauty is of course heavily skewed towards Western standards but I wouldn't say it's necessarily disgusting or abhorrent, anymore than saying I don't find short women as attractive as tall women or vice versa. Look at the women of the Himalayan, or Mongolia, they don't exactly wear makeup or tart up but some are natural beauties.
Nickie's mom. you should had listened to your daughter when she was crying for your understanding... better being prudent than being sorry, as u sadly are …….
What kind of lame justification is it to tell a person who's been harassed that they need to expect and tolerate it because they're attractive? About the same as blaming the victim: "Oh, well, if you weren't good looking, random creepers wouldn't believe they're entitled to disrespect you". Sure, be flattered by the threat of potential danger.
@@sachifrances5195 you might have a crucial point here. The facts are, beauty might count but still many are abused either psychically or psychologically. Does it make a difference? Violence is against every civil existence. Period!! Sadly here, my attention is diverted to the mother, she's supposed to know better, though it's not always the case. But i had no intention to beat about the bush.
@@birdyelke775 - Exactly. My response was in agreement with you. Niqui's mother should have taken her concern seriously instead of copping the "What do you expect? You're so pretty" attitude. It doesn't make a difference. A person's appearance is irrelevant (at least it should be). I feel the same as you; the mother should have listened more carefully. It is my annoyance at her reaction suggesting that unwanted attention and harassment is something to expect and accept.
I agree, what an ignorant reply that she gave to her daughter. As a mother, I would accompany my daughter to retrieve her laundry. Never would I dismiss her concerns. The mother sounds like the type who would ask her daughter what she was wearing, had she been raped!!1@@sachifrances5195
What is with the stupid comments vilifying her mother?! She had no idea that the poor woman would go missing. She wasn't "crying for understanding" or anything else. Niki was 20 years old, not a child. She got hit on for Christ's sake and was irritated, I doubt very seriously that two total strangers in public took her. It's almost always someone close to the missing person who disappears/gets killed. We don't even know whether she went back to the laundromat. If my family or I dropped everything and went everywhere with someone I love every time someone looked at them the wrong way, I'd never go to work. Also, I agree with the "don't accept harassment just because someone's attractive" but her mother is from another generation.
The murder of Eric Tamiyasu is one of the most intriguing of the latter seasons, fascinating whodunit. Both suspects are pretty interesting, but I give the edge to Don Dixon since he discovered the body. The part where he claims he said a prayer and then almost cry sounds incredibly fake and reeks of bad acting.
Jonathan Turbide + Yeah Don Dixon story Sound Real Fake and Shakey, and why would u pray right away when seeing him laid in bed instead of calling and going to get Help right away’
Ever notice that when a suspect takes a lie-detector test and fails it's taken as proof of guilt, but when that same suspect passes the test, now lie-detector tests are unreliable?
Thats why you should never take one, they’re not admissible in court so they’re pointless to begin with. All detectives use for is to paint narratives on who they think is guilty.
Results: Unresolved. Following Niqui's disappearance, police identified her former coworker, Tommy Swint, as a suspect in her case. He later became a police officer, but was forced to resign after he failed to inform them that he was a suspect in her disappearance. When police interviewed a former girlfriend of Swint's, she stated that he had previously dated Tina. She also said that a blanket Tina was found wrapped in was similar to one he had carried in his car. Her nephew later told police that he remembered seeing a blood trail from her basement window to Swint's car. In 2008, Niqui's sister publicly revealed that she was having a relationship with Swint. He was a Trotwood, Ohio police officer, a former corrections officer and security guard. They had met while working at the same corrections facility. On the day of her disappearance, she tried to contact her sister multiple times. Her sister believes that she was trying to talk to her about the affair. Swint had been considered a suspect since shortly after she vanished. Her car was found at the apartment complex where he lived. In May 2008, DNA from semen and blood found on Tina was matched to Swint. A fingerprint on tape wrapped around her body was also matched to him. On February 3, 2010, he was indicted for her murder. In September of 2005, Heather Tallchief turned herself into the police at a Las Vegas courthouse. She said she was tired of running from the law after living with her ten-year-old son in the Netherlands. I kinda felt like her fiance did it but when he said i love her more then i love myself that vhanged my mind cause he didnt say i loved usaully the killer refers to them in a past tense way because they know the person is dead
If Eric Smith said that Eric and Don weren't really close friends and he was just a supplier to the orchard, why would he have a key to his house and know Eric's sister's phone number to call her? Why would he call her to tell her instead of letting the police handle that very personal and heart wrenching phone call? My friends don't have my sister's phone number. On the other hand also, why the hell would you destroy a whole bed to save the family from the gruesome scene, if you thought it was natural causes at first. Apparently, there had to be blood somewhere. I wouldn't be able to take a mattress and all the bedding all the way down stairs and outside if my friend passed away on the mattress. That's just gross and creepy. Bottom line......who had the most to gain or lose? Final note --- If someone is outside ringing the doorbell, tapping on the house and hiding, my ass isn't going outside to check it out. Call the cops.
That's because he didn't! Eric never gave him a key, Dixon is lying and stole a copy from Eric. He found the number at Eric's house near the phone. Back in the day people had all those numbers near the house phone. It's not like Don called her from a cell phone or something like that. Reasserting that Dixon is the killer.
I don't believe you're gonna say a prayer when you find a death body. And than he's repeating it in the intervieuw just to make the impression like i'm a religious person . I'm not involved.
I love how Don is the only one Eric ever disclosed any sort of relationship with a Polynesian woman and how Don is the only one who heard a supposedly heated argument between Eric and his best friend and how he had keys to his house and not even his best friend did. Also don was an acquaintance of Eric, why would he had been fielding calls from friends of Eric?
Don's faked sadness at finding the body! That is so put-on and I immediately suspected him, let alone after what he said to the sister. He was certainly involved!

Interesting how the Sheriff did not follow procedure by asking for the bed to be burned (and Don Dixon didn't seem to find it odd at the time) and it would later turn out he was murdered in it!
Evidently Heather and Roberto fled to the Netherlands. They had a son together born in 1995. Heather and son left Roberto in 2005 where Heather returned to Las Vegas and turned herself in. She pleaded guilty to her role in the robbery and was sentenced to 63 months in prison. She was released in June 2010 after serving her sentence. Roberto Solos remains at large, whereabouts unknown. He would now be 76 years old if still alive.
pretty amazing that a Hispanic male and Native American female did not attract any attention in the Netherlands. FBI couldn't track them down? I guess the world was a 'bigger' place back then, its pretty hard to hide nowadays. As far as the perfect crime, the robbery part was pretty easy - she had the armored car to herself, with no tracking devices on it.
I love Loris determination and retelling of the story. I’m so happy she made it. Some people are so fucking sick and stupid, what was his purpose!!?! Weirdo.
Why would a cop have evidence destroyed. Also, why does Don always seem to be around? He had the keys to his house, but they weren't really friends? Also, how does he know all of this stuff about the sheriff and his business partner. Not only that, why did he said it doesn't look like he was murdered and there are no exit wounds? Dixon is a strange nosey guy.
I think the killer of eric was dianas ex ..I think when they was on sofa getting close he kept ringing bell, and knocking to freak them out so they didn't get down and dirty that night..if you are going to kill someone why would they knock, but don is also odd, erics friends say he wasn't close to don so why did he have a key,he found the body, and the phone call to erics sister about exit wounds, why would you think that when theres not a gun there...rip eric.

Semi random act of violence? Her ex may have had a friend that did it. And then tried to make it look like it was her ex that did it? The sheriff could have been held accountable by telling someone random who just found a body to burn heavy mattresses and bedding in the yard!. What if he had hurt himself or ended up setting something on fire, because it wasn't a small blaze either. The sheriff could have been sued! But it would fit if the two of them were in on it together.
And there are companies who clean up crime scenes, NOT the police trying to protect the "feelings" of family members.
Super weird.
Don Dixon should’ve had enough common sense to at least ask questions and not be a yes man.
Yeah - Ive never heard of that. Until the case is closed or ruled on, you would keep evidence and then toss it. You wouldnt burn it.

Yep. I thought that. It was Dixon who said about the sheriffs wife ... and also Dixon who mentioned Eric smith and Eric Tamyasu had an arguement the day before he died. You have to admit, that man was far smarter than your average criminal.
Don Dixon is goofy. He finds Eric dead and immediately thinks to himself it's suicide because he had been depressed about the orchard business and there were no exit wounds? Did they ever consider the sheriff's wife as a suspect? She may have been the one snooping around, knocking on the door that night. Jealous that she got dumped.

For instance, my sister's ex boyfriend acted a lot like Don Dixon. I remember once a police officer was shot & killed & we were discussing the news story about it (which there was very little details to at the time) and my sister's ex gave this detailed account of how it probably went down, again despite there being very little details released🙄

It is my annoyance at her reaction suggesting that unwanted attention and harassment is something to expect and accept.

He found the number at Eric's house near the phone. pretty amazing that a Hispanic male and Native American female did not attract any attention in the Netherlands.
Weirdo.
He’s a sexual sadist. Yes, very sick.
I grew up in Hood River. Wampler and his cronies ran that town with corruption for decades.
Don is the more likely candidate. I think the prank ringing and knocking was just that. Kiddies pranking. A coincidence.
@@LynxStarAuto But eric didn't live close to anyone,i think her ex followed her up there, everytime they got close on sofa he was ringing bell and knocking on door to put them off, then out of jealousy he killed eric.
Joanne Rutledge why didn’t Eric have 10 pit bulls??? He has a beautiful estate and money damn.... help dogs and get protection at the same time!!!
ya i think theres a good chance she is linked to the story buts shes ignored
This robbery is pretty bad ass. I wouldn't turn them in if i knew who they were
Oooh, no. They might blow your balls off for informing on them !
Only if they knew who it was. Women is pretty cute
Haha me neither!
I would in a heartbeat unless i was paid off HANDSOMELY
Same here he's my hero but she's an idiot for turning herself in It was CASINO money I call what they did a gamble that paid off very well ! OCEANS 14 !
Yo that officer is guilty as hell
No inkling on what would next happened lol not no idea his a way w words as Mr stack really enjoy these
This burning of the bed is about the weirdest thing---makes the sheriff the #1 suspect. He who destroys evidence is auto #1 suspect. Ahd what he says is "They are looking in the wrong direction," Not exactly a definitive denial. The weird atmosphere on ET's date with Anderson could be a coincidence. It sounds like someone e.g. an ex-BF of Anderson perhaps--jealous and trying to break up their date night.
Semi random act of violence? Her ex may have had a friend that did it. And then tried to make it look like it was her ex that did it? Saw her out doing laundry and decided to take the "opportunity"..? Maybe her assailant remembered her(through the ex), but she didn't remember him.. So her ex was just a connection..?
Ok Bobby was BROKE.
The words “convicted murderer” and “released” should never go together.
Niqui story has been on many shows including fatal attraction, speculation is a cop that eventually committed suicide killed her.
Laurie is a total badass.
WHERE IS NIQUI MCCOWN
Dead more than likely.
She's dead somewhere murdered by her boyfriend 3 weeks before she was to be married a special occasion the most important day of her life shame shame shame😢😂😢😢😢😢
@@reneebrown1362 This case is really puzzling there's another suspect that wasn't release on the show and later revealed by her sister that Niqui was having an affair. The police actually place this guy as the *prime suspect* his name is Tommy Swint she met him when she was working at the same corrections facility. Tommy has a criminal past he was indicted for murdering a woman named Tina and believe to be suspect for other murders. He committed suicide after being indicted unfortunately no charges wasn't filed. I was aiming towards the boyfriend too but idk Tommy's criminal past is alarming and he maybe responsible for her disappearance. I still think it's a coincidence how the truck was parked in the same complex of the ex boyfriend which makes me think the boyfriend did it to throw himself off from being a suspect.
Probably dead somewhere
@Noire Talk why would the boyfriend kill her?
Wasn't expecting the ending to that last story....
he definitely has 'odd' behaviour - perhaps injecting himself into the situation whether verbally or otherwise.... Burning the bedding without gathering evidence? 'The family not having to view the horrid things that were left behind'????? WHAT? Someone did a poor job there! Odd that the sheriff would talk about a rumor!
