I think I watch Unsolved because it takes me back to the world I knew as a child. This show MADE my childhood so memorable. As an adult I find these episodes even better and in some bizarre way, comforting. They make me feel nostalgic and long for the days when people seemed kinder and less self centered. In so many ways technology, while I am grateful for the possibilities it affords me, changed so much the way we interact with one another. It gave birth to an era where the content of our character is less important than the car we drive and the superficiality that plagues this current age. Notice how those interviewed in these episodes spanning from late 80's through the early 2000's are dynamic and have depth? I wonder how history books will convey the world as we know it now?

Three years after Molly vanished, her body was found five miles from the pond at a place called Whiskey Hill. Although no cause of death could be determined, the manner of death was ruled a homicide. Her killer has not yet been apprehended, but the case remains open and active. A $100,000 reward is being offered for information on it.
Although the case remains unsolved, there have been several people of interest identified. In 2007, a sex offender named Robert Burno was named one after he tried to abduct and assault a jogger in Brimfield, a few miles from Warren. He also matches the suspect's description.
In 2009, convicted murderer Rodney Stanger was named a suspect in Molly's murder. He had lived in the same area as her family at the time of her disappearance. He also lived close to the YMCA where she took her lifeguard certification classes. He was also known to frequent the pond and the wooded area where her body was found. He also matched the suspect's composite. Finally, before her murder, his girlfriend claimed that he may have been involved in murders in Massachusetts.
Surprisingly, in 2011, another sex offender named Gerald Battistoni was named a suspect in Molly's murder. He also resembled the composite and had frequented the area where her body was found. His rape victim also lived near the pond. He died in November 2014.
To add to the mystery, a ten-year-old girl named Holly Kristen Piirainen, who lived near Warren, was abducted and murdered seven years before Molly was. Interestingly, Molly had written a letter to Holly's family shortly after she disappeared. Both cases are similar, but Holly's has not been featured in the series. Forensic evidence eventually connected a deceased man named David Pouilot to it. Authorities are still investigating Holly's murder, but charges have not yet been filed.
In June 2016, it was announced that "enhanced DNA testing" would be applied to 24 pieces of evidence that have yet to be tested.
In June 2017, investigators claimed to have found "compelling" information in the case. The information led to a West Brookfield campground where the car used in Molly's abduction was alleged to be buried. Multiple areas of interest were found using ground penetrating radar.
The information was about a new person of interest who lived at the campground around the time of Molly's abduction. At the time, he owned a white Buick LeSabre, similar to the one seen at the pond. A witness claimed that the man told him that "something bad happened" and that he was "in the woods all night" when Molly vanished. He also allegedly had bloody scratches on his face. However, he denied any involvement in the case and it is unknown if anything was found during the 2017 search.
None of the people of interest have ever been charged in the case, and it is unknown which one, if any of them, are responsible.

A lot of interesting information here. Ironic that the family moved away from Detroit to a place they thought would be safer but may in fact be even more dangerous, with no less than three sex offenders in the area. Woods and ponds may look peaceful and beautiful, but often are a place where killers lurk.

That guy knew what he was doing, it was a well-thought plan and there's no doubt he committed other similar crimes before and after he killed Molly. A few fellow armchair detectives and I tried to work on finding potential suspects thanks to geographical profiling and links to other possible cases, but it lead to nothing. I live in robbinsville NC, the next town over from Andrew's NC where Eric is from. I remember all of this just like it was yesterday. Everytime I go to Walmart in Murphy, which is the next town over from Andrew's, I can't help but think of him. His camp was found up in the woods directly above the four lane over looking the national guard armory. He literally walked around among the ppl right under the cops noses the whole time and they still couldn't find him, hence his title of the " hide and seek champion!!" Everybody had those bumper stickers for years. I'll never forget when the cop "found him" he thought he was just the shit, strutting around with his chest all puffed out like he had really done something. The only reason they ever found him was because he wanted to be cause he was finally tired of hiding. Otherwise he would still be free to this day!
My heart goes out to all of the ppl he hurt, may God bless their families 🙏🙏

Deborah Loiselle also recalled that on the night of the shooting, Malaika saying, “What is this neighborhood now 90210”? Plus she too was unsuccessful in trying to reason with Malaika.
The land lady was Beverly Grant who would only witness the end of every argument that Malaika had with the couple and Malaika would just brush it off as if it was nothing.
The woman Malaika Griffin car jacked was Monique Thomas (who also recalled that Malaika’s breath reeked of alcohol at the time of the encounter). According to Thomas, she recalled that Malaika banged on her door and when she let her in, Malaika asked if she could borrow her car but when she told her “No” that’s when she pointed a gun at her, snatched the car keys then took off.
At Malaika’s trial she tried to claim the shooting was in self defense but it was the testimony of the M.E. that contradicted that claim because the autopsy showed that Jason was defenseless since he’d shot from behind at close range. She then tried to come up with an innocent explanation for the journal entries by saying that the writings were just research for a play. But when cross examined by the prosecutor as to how many shows she been to in the last 7 years, her answer was “none” (plus the writings themselves weren’t fictional in any way). Plus nobody runs if they were just acting in self defense.
It was clear based on the journal entries, that Malaika was actually interested in instigating trouble against any white individual.
Would she have done the same if she were living next to an interracial couple (like serial killer Joseph Paul Franklin)?

In May 2003, the police picked up a homeless man going through the trash in North Carolina and brought him to the police station. They noticed that he seemed to be identical to the Eric Rudolph wanted poster. They soon confirmed his identity while in custody. He had been living off scraps and leftovers from the trash.
Eric was charged with two counts of murder, and several counts of terrorism. Along with his truck being seen fleeing the last bombing, investigators had other evidence that connected him to the bombings. At least fifteen friends and acquaintances of his identified his voice as being the caller who contacted 911 thirty minutes before the Centennial Park Bombing. His handwriting and punctuation was similar to that found in the four letters left by "Army of God." Identical brown cotton fibers were found on the Centennial Park bomb debris, the Army of God Letters, and his truck. Five shell casings found in his storage locker contained power chemically consistent with debris from the Centennial Park bomb. Nails found in it were similar to ones used in the later bombings.
A sibling of Eric's also claimed that, prior to the Centennial Park Bombing, he had mentioned that the Olympics would be the "prime target" for a terrorist attack. A specific technique used to carry the backpack that held the Centennial Park bomb was taught and commonly used at an Army school that he attended. Finally, a Tennessee gun dealer identified him as the man who bought 50 pounds of smokeless powder several years before the bombings. Investigators said that powder was connected to the Centennial Park bomb.
Faced with the evidence against him, Eric entered a plea bargain in August 2005. He was sentenced to four life terms in prison in exchange for telling authorities where he hid several explosives in the North Carolina wilderness.

Such a sad story about Molly, but i had to laugh at her mother saying in disbelief, "how can you loose a child in *America*" ... Some people have such a warped sense of the so-called "American Dream". Bad/Evil/troubled people, hell even terrorists, aren't *just* foreign problems . Also crimes aren't *just* an urban phenomenon. (Obviously more humans in smaller areas aka cities, will create a bigger crime problem)

The case of Molly Bish was very sad. This young lady went to do her job as a lifeguard and never returned home. But I feel that the pond was too isolated and Molly shouldn’t have been alone all by herself. I hope someday authorities can catch the perpetrator who killed her so the parents can have some kind of peace knowing that justice have been served. Rest in Peace always, Molly, you were gone too soon. 🙏
