    As a football fan(NFL and NCAA) This is one of if not the greatest games of all time. It has everything, heartbreak, hopes and dreams, big plays, an underdog story, love, hate, big breaks on small mistakes, you name it it's got it.
    As a Boise Local born and raised, and a lifetime BSU fan, it is most certainly the greatest game I've ever had the pleasure of witnessing, by far THE best game ever imo.

    • @Ryaneli10
      @Ryaneli10 Год назад

      well as a Boise State fan I'm sure it is one of the greatest of all time but I do agree with you, I think it was the year before I started paying attention to BSU and when my team played them in the Fiesta Bowl this unforgettable year I was excited to see how they played against each other. I was pretty shocked at first and then we started to come back and I just assumed our team finally woke up and it was pretty much over.. Boy I was wrong. I hated to see it but it wasn't the same kind of hate i had toward Oregon with that onside kick recovery. there was a lot of respect toward them and I'm still somewhat of a fan today. I can't believe that was 15 years ago.. I actually live in Nevada now and when Boise State comes here to play UNR I always try to go see them play.

    Not a fan of either of these teams but this game is EASILY in my top 5 college football games of all time, and honestly this game could make a strong argument for my #1 spot.
    I remember my dad and I freaking out on this game, jumping up and down and screaming like crazy people. all the back and forth action was amazing. Not to mention some incredible trick plays that took some serious balls to run during that point of the game, and they executed them perfectly.
    I know this sounds stupid but I’ll be honest I get choked up watching this game big time. My dad and I had a complicated relationship due to the fact he was a brutal alcoholic, my dad was older when he had kids he had me at 49 years old but long story short ended up passing away last year due to alcohol, and one of my fondest memories of him is the both of us going absolutely nuts together watching this game.

I loved Kellen Moore and they were a true underdog story and it was awesome while it lasted. I don't think I ever been more heartbroken over a loss as when Nevada beat them and ended their last chance to go compete for championship. How after that miracle throw and catch do you miss that chip shot? How?!?!?! That game was incredible and couldn't believe it ended like that. I hate games ending like that. I rather be beat by a drive down the field or a pick six, fumble rec or something. But not missing field goals that are that short. I'm sure Vikings fans feel me on that

    With all due respect, as a Fresno State fan, Boise's run didn't start in 2003, but 2001, the night they ended David Carr and my unbeaten Bulldogs shot at a BCS berth with a 35-30 upset at Bulldog Stadium. We were #8 in the country and had beaten a BCS bound Colorado team in Boulder, smoked Heisman favorite Ken Simonton and Oregon State, and then went to Camp Randall and beat Wisconsin in back to back to back weeks. That loss started the shift of power in the WAC/Mountain West from Fresno to Boise.

We werent that good that year but came to play against the dogs in the Valley. My friend called and we went out on the town and did teenager things. When I got home I turned the game on to watch the last 2 plays. I was shocked when I seen the score was 35-30 Boise. When Carr got sacked on 4th down to end the game, a weird feeling came over me, I was jumping up and down and thats when the fan inside me came alive. Thats when alot of people I'm sure got the bug. I became an NFL Fan in 1980, then I became a College Football fan in 1984.
    To this day, this is hands-down the greatest Football game I have ever seen wire-to-wire. It had it all.
    The fast start by the Broncos in the 1st period and the beating they continued giving the Sooners throughout the 1st half. The Sooners comeback in the 3rd period, the Sooners taking the lead with less 2 minutes in the 4th, the Broncos Hook & Lateral to tie the game on 4th down and send it to OT. The Sooners taking the lead, then TD Broncos, Statue of Liberty 🗽 to win.
    And to top this masterpiece with a cherry on top, the RB who converted the 2 point play to win goes to the sideline and converts on a marriage proposal to his girlfriend cheerleader. This is not on this video but it sure as hell should be.

Both teams had shots to win it and Boise just capitalized and took shots when they needed it most.

    Boise overcoming multiple deficits at the end of the game is even more amazing when you consider what had happened in their previous two bowl games: Jared Zabransky had thrown game-ending interceptions in heartbreaking losses in 2004 (vs. a legit top 5 Louisville team) and 2005 (vs. Boston College in Matt Ryan's final college game) before throwing that ugly pick-6 vs. OU.
    That 4th and 18 hook & ladder was amazingly clutch and flawlessly executed all around...

    A great Boise State video and worth a watch by any fan of football! I was a HUGE Boise State fan in 2006 and, as such, I've seen many different replay videos regarding this game. I want to tell you, SB Nation, that this video is now one of my favorites - I especially enjoyed the script. By combining game footage with each team's (players, staff, program, season) history and unique dynamics, you provided me a new and exciting perspective on what had become a somewhat boring and played out topic. Additionally, the informative commentary contributed to the excitement of the game's highlights. I had completely forgotten how much I use to enjoy watching highlight reels. Thank you for producing this style of video and for including Boise State! I'm looking forward to more of your videos and I subscribed to the channel as well.

      In the current format, a committee selects four teams, and I doubt they would have been selected in that format (if you doubt me, look what happened to UCF last year). Furthermore, they would then still have to play two games to be champs. No way to say accurately that they would win one or both. They actually would have been more likely to be named champs in the old format based on AP and coaches polls. They probably would have been named co-champs with Ohio State.

    • @rickhoward1516
      @rickhoward1516 5 лет назад +2

      @@mikemartin5749 Those kellen Moore years are the most powerful Group of 5 teams ever assembled. Under todays format Those teams would have easily made a push for the playoff. Boise had been growing for several years and secretley waiting to break out. Ucf cant touch what Boise has done, lets say UCF keeps getting better and actually beats some high profile names during the regular season like Oregon, Georgia, and Va Tech ect, then yes UCF will make a puch also.
      Boise State in 2006 and the 07 Fiesta is what UCF was last year, went un beaten against a bad schedule and beat a down team in a bcs bowl. UCF beat Auburn that just missed out on the CFP and wanted more, Boise State beat a down OU during a year when the Big 12 wasnt that great, keep in mind OU was the Big 12 Champ. Auburn last year wasnt even the Sec champ.
      So once again UCF has an even worse schedule and has hit a ceiling just outside the cfp top 4. See the difference? If UCF wants the credit and respect to make the playoff, they need to schedule better teams. Get better and the next few classes better be good ones.
      Boise State loaded up after this Fiesta Bowl year and wound up have the Best Winning Class in all of college football in 08-11 at 50-3 with all 3 losses against Foes and not power 5's. Tcu twice and Nevada. All losses were by a total of 5 points. 2 missed field goals and a 1 point loss to tcu in the poinsettia bowl. Boise State was 5 points away from being possibly 53-0. They would have had tougher bowl games but Boise State was that good that you could easily marked them up as wins.
      Until UCF goes on that run, they cant touch what Boise has done or cry about not making the cfp.
      Take this year had Boise been legit and be sitting at 12-0 with the conference championship game to go, they would be knocking on the door of the cfp with UCF still watching.
      Boise State has set the standard for what it takes to earn respect.

    • @mikemartin5749

      @@rickhoward1516 I regret mentioning UCF, because it distracted from my point. I agree with you that those BSU teams were better than UCF, but my actual point is that the committee is never going to bring in anyone except power 5 teams, and every final four team has to win two games. The original poster did not consider those parameters.

    • @Statalyzer
      @Statalyzer 5 лет назад +1

      Yeah, the committee would never have picked them unless they got to pick AFTER this game. IMO they were just as good as Florida or Ohio State that year - after all, this was a legit OU team they beat - OU only had 2 losses, one was from a completely bogus call where they had the game 100% locked up if the ref didn't blow it, the other was to a pretty good Texas team (Texas went 9-3, with 1 loss to Ohio State and the other 2 came with Colt McCoy injured).
