65k living in NYC , at least now in 2022, Def. will still need roommates, and that isn't considering living in nyc and dealing with the city's extra tax on top of the tax already being the highest in the country. If you are making over 150-175k a year, you'll be able to enjoy living on your own and enjoying everything the city has to offer from a completely financial aspect, (going to all the semi remotely-fancy resturants, going out to eat, enjoying vacations, traveling, etc.)
Interesting conversation and good advice.
Thank you!!
Great post.
Intelligent duo!!
Thank you!
I'm making $62k and paying $1700, but that is with all utilities included.
I have always felt owning either a house or condo, under the right conditions, is the better path. I realize that some people just don’t have any interest.
Agreed. In NJ and NYC it can be much more expensive because of the property taxes.
@@carterajones I was born in Brooklyn & the family apartment was on Riverside Drive in Manhattan. To make a very long story short my parents moved to Milwaukee. At age 30 my Mom, a New York girl, had to learn to drive. One year we went to visit my NYC grandmother. My father later told me the most expensive part of the trip was the parking of the family car in Manhattan.
@@carterajones at my old NYC apartment building there used to be 2 apartments per floor. In the 90’s the building went condo. Both apartments were combined & I recently saw that that 2800 sq foot combined apartment was selling for $3.7 million…..the taxes must be huge!
No, the student loans will be at a much lower interest rate than credit card debt. Pay off all credit card debt, probably at 18% interest, first. Stop adding any more credit card debt and minimize those subscriptions. A debit card maybe better than a credit card for this person. Stay at home and do a monthly budget to know where all money is spent.
Definitely need to tackle credit card debt first, or just don't accumulate any!
Just by reading the title. Nope. I would get a roommate instead
And hopefully a cheaper apartment!
