Perfect way to describe the difference in Vettes Scott. "Effortless"...the power is easily accessible in every gear with the Z06. The GS is an amazing car...particularly the Great Scott Grand Sport. Getting into full boost in my 16 Z06 is wild. I thought my 02 Z06 was pretty fast but it's on another level.
Both awesome rides. I have a Stingray and its plenty of go for me. Thumbs up on AWE touring.. I put that on at Carlisle 2022, LOVE it.
Got my Grand Sport a couple of months ago. Couldn't be happier.
Both sound amazing! Great content. I chose AWE track edition paired with the AWE X-pipe for my 2019 M7 Z06 and I LOVE it. Two beautiful vehicles showcased right here. I think you’d love a Z06 even more.😉👌🏽

Andy has the coolest forged wheels, for sure. I wanted a similar set for my Z51 and, ugh, it's heartbreaking how much forged, custom wheels cost.
I want a Z06 C7. I am undecided on an automatic vs manual. I love to shift but I also like to have the fastest 0 to 60 and quarter mile time. I had a 1991 ZR-1 with a manual it was so much fun. Both the Grandsport and Z06 sound awesome! Thanks for the video

I was in the same thought process of if I should trade my c7 grand sport and get a zo6. But I thought about all I put into my GS to make it mine. Also I know at this point be buying a used c7 zo6. For me, I’m going to stay with my GS wait till the warranties are up then spend the money and get a supercharger. For me up here in Canada it’s the best choice money wise. The other thing I think about is the grand sport model is no more for a while. Even when it does eventually come back, they will all be mid engine models. So if I did decide to sell I could take it back to stock if a collector wanted to buy it.

My 19’ GS could use an Akra exhaust system.. I’m a true fan of their stuff.. Had the race system on my 06 Yamaha R1 LOVED IT! Fit and finish was flawless. Sounded like sexy music to my ears..

I've never driven a Z06, but I have a C7 grand sport. I'd expect that in 1st and 2nd there isn't much difference at all, the GS already has enough torque that you can break traction in those gears, so with a Z06 you'd just have to baby it even more. But I'd expect 3rd-4th pulls to be much, much better with all that extra torque. Half way through 3rd is where the GS really seems to be a bit anemic.
For someone that's never driven a Z06, you're spot on. Rolling into 3rd gear in a Z06 is much different than the GS. Very insightful!
Mark Sironi both are amazing cars but going from 09Z NA to my 19Z supercharged it’s night and day torque wise and it’s what sold me coming from a twin turbo Bimmer, once you get spoiled with forced induction it’s hard to go back, one of the reasons I’m torn on ordering a new C8Z NA and less power although it can put it down better bc it’s mid engine
There is no comparison the Z06 is violently faster than a grand sport no matter what gear your in.
LOL!! I'm concerned with the road noise on those specific bad roads. I will not be changing the exhaust on my Grand Sport, that's for sure. I equate that to pipes on a Harley. Nice on the short runs, but go on a 400 miles ride out and 400 miles back home the next day - the pipe music turns into annoying noise (for some of us). Of course it's whatever floats your boat.

Love the video, but what mods does he have on it? The Z06 is only about 10k more, so I don't see a very good reason not to get one over the GS. But what was your final verdict?
Definitely ZO6 with ZO7 pkg..That’s what I currently drive Shark 🦈 Grey Metallic with Brown Stone Interior..I had a 2014 Stingray 3LT White Paint with black interior drove for a year and half..Buy the ZO6 you will not b disappointed

I have a 2017 Grand Sport with forged racing pistons, rings, lifters, cam, LT4 supercharger, upgraded edelbrock cooling system, and upgraded fuel system. I've always wondered what it feels like compared to the zo6. I bought it with the supercharger on and it blew all the rings from the previous owner not building it up right. I'd have to assume its about the same.

Can’t go wrong with either. The wide body C7’s are beautiful cars. No one knows what Andy does...it’s a mystery to us all. 😂
Here is my experience I have a 2016 Stingray and a 2019 Z06. Why? My son has a 2017 Z06 and he dropped it off at my place and let me drive it for a couple weeks. Big Mistake! All I could think of from that point on is to buy myself a Z06. The power was too intoxicating for me. Very significant difference for me. Stingrays and Grand Sports are terrific cars. But the torque and power of the Z06 is addictive.
Buy a Z06 and you won"t regret it.
I kept the Stingray for visitors and my wife likes it. Nobody drives my Z but me!

Happy Father's day to all, Great topic! Love to see a deep dive review comparing options. Say moving up to a Z06 vs installing a supercharger upgrade on the GS. So many choices.. Which one to choose? Edelbrock, Whipple, Magnuson or Procharger. Which do you pick? No doubt , any of these upgrade options "installed " will set you back $8K or more. How do you compare that $$ to the cost of a new Z06? I have this discussion with my wife all of the time. She saids, better to buy new than to upgrade. I'm on the fence..

I think you might be referring to the Swisstrax flooring. Take a look at Swisstrax.
In the end, it's ALL about what you can afford. The Z06 will always be priced a bit higher than the GS. The GS will always be priced a bit higher than the Stingray. Insurance will also cost more depend on which vehicle. But if money is no object, why stop at the Z06 when you can get the ZR51. And if you really have a money tree, get a Bugatti. As for me, I stick to what I can afford (GS19) and still live comfortably. The reason I said this is because majority of us Corvette owner are in our 40's or 50's with a wife and kid(s). Now if you add in the wife and kid(s) vehicle, you got to stick to what's affordable.

As to the cold start in Andy's garage, I think I saw a few sheet-rock screws pop out. My ear drums sure popped as well. 😱 I have to say the "real" difference between the two models is the torque. The ZO6 is just amazing in it's engine management. GM did good for sure. What do you mean "sometimes louder doesn't always mean better!?" Eh, what did you say, I can't hear you? 😉 A pre-congratulations on breaking through the 2k subscriber mark. You're on the way to bigger and better my friend. Save the Wave.🙋🏼♂️

I put the LT4 blower on my 2017 Collectors Edition GS & absolutely love it. Making more power and for less money than the Z06.

@@Team512 Andy from ADM Performance out of Lewisville,TX did all the work ,sourced the parts & tuned it for me. Now I have a vette that’s way faster,more rare & still cost less than a new Z06.

I’m in the middle of deciding as we speak. I can’t front, your car seems more fun through the gears, it didn’t seem like you could stay on the z06. You ran out of street before you ran out of gears lol. Either way, great machines. Wish me luck.
I was in the market initially for a Z06. I can say for certain that I have no regrets in buying the GS. Your assessment is absolutely correct. You can definitely run through the gears without fear of running out of road.
I have a GS and I feel even in it I run out of space very fast. I think the Z definitely has the power but you can't use much of it and kind of have to baby it. The Grandsport has usable horsepower, fast and easy to throw in and out of corners

I'm no expert, but my gut says if most of the driving that you do is cruising, and not track racing, than I'd stick with the suspension of the Grand Sport, and supercharge it if you want more power.
But the enthusiast in me says if I could afford a Z06, I'd buy the Z06 LOL

@@Team512 it should be cheaper to SC yours than buy a Z. I don't know that you'll get the return on all the goodies and love you already put into Ace.

@@frontxxrunner You're right on. In the short term, I could install a supercharger and have it tuned cheaper than buying a Z06. This is all dependent on the supercharger and spec of Z06. But, you're definitely correct, I would lose out in the long term.

I bought a brand new 18 GS, I've added $15K in custom ordered wheels, Pirelli tires, Dyno Tune, American Racing Headers & X-Pipe, AFE Cold Air, Catch Can...You think I'll get that money back? Hell No:D But I ain't selling it. C7 is the best and last manual Vette. I still hear stories of cooling problems or high IATs with the Z car even after GM addressed them in 17. The aftermarket has so many premium upgrade parts for the LT1 that I'm glad I got the GS. So yup...I'm gonna throw some more money at it that I'll never see again, next up...MAGNUSON 2650R LOL!

I wanted a Z06, wasn't in the budget. Got a C7 Stingray. I'll tell you what. It hooks and no wheel spin so I smoke most cars that try to race me. Including a lot of expensive Audis.
I had a 2015 Corvette And now into a 2018 Gran Sport I’m not trying to start all over one more time just to get a supercharger if the car is three years or older just have a supercharger or turbo

C7s are all "last generation" now. With earlier Z06 prices at or below GS prices why would you get a GS? Yeah there have been some slight tweaks in the later C7s but I don't think they trump the power advantage and standard mag ride. "I don't need the extra 200 HP?" No, you don't need 650 HP... but you don't need 455 HP either then. I thought for a year or two that I'd just get a GS but for the reason specified in my second sentence, I have a Z06/Z07. No regrets. Zero.
I personally have the grandsport z07 package and while I don't regret my purchase I agree of at the time they were the same or near the same price I would have gotten the ZO6. The price difference at the time was 12k so wasn't worth it for me but it is an amazing car.
Hi Scott, good perspective on the two rides. Would you supercharge your GS? For me I didnt wanna spend 2K on gas tax on a Z06 and there were lots on reviews on the GS being the best balance in power and handeling on the track, nicknamed the " Goldielocks Vette" It would be nice to own a Z06 or a ZR1 like Justin....but it all boils down to personal preference. Bottom line, juz get the ride that best suits you and not walk in someone else's shoes. Peace bro!
Great perspective! I am considering supercharging the GS. Besides the power gains, I think it would be a fun project and make for some great videos.

Love my '18 GS with the new Corsa Variable Sound exhaust. A Z06 for anything but track use is overkill, IMO.

@@Team512 Pretty awesome. Switches between Corsa Sport (which is pretty much where the OEM NPP is when set on "Sport/Track")
and Corsa Extreme...which, as you know, is Pure Awesomeness. So you can dial in the best of both worlds just like you would the OEM
exhaust. Luckily, I live about 20 minutes from Corsa headquarters, so I got the free install by their pros right there at the factory!

if the performance is that great between them why are the GS only 5-10 (if that) lower cost used? its the a hellcat to a scat pack difference, the price between them are much greatly. IMO the GS should be lower cost than the z06 but for some reason they aren't that much.
Great question...With a GS you're still getting a wide body C7 with the same big brake package and suspension as the Z06. Not to mention the same available interior options as well. The "only" feature you're giving up is 190hp. You also need to look at buyer demographics of the C7 as compared to the Challenger segment too. Is the 190hp a trade off that Corvette buyers specifically are willing to give up? Even though the age of C7 buyers is moving down, there's still a large majority of older folks that care more about attaining a Corvette, and are willing to give up 190hp to get there.

Crazy right? They’re the closest in price than they’ve ever been. I will say a 3LZ Z06 is still quite a bit above a 1LT GS.

@@Team512 I'm going to buy a 2016 3LZ Z07 equipped Z06 tomorrow. It all started with looking for a Camaro 2SS 1 LE. Ended up test driving a Stringray. Then started looking for a Grand Sport. Ended up buying the Camaro. Now adding the Z.

there’s more to life than having extra horsepower, in my humble opinion as a 2019 grand sport owner , unless you’re going to be spending time at the track I would tell you to stick with a GrandSport, the speed limit is 70 miles an hour, and yes I like the exhilaration of nailing the throttle from time to time and you know as well as I that the opportunities are not always there, grandSport has more than enough horsepower for the road, My advice would be not to get hyped up by all these Z06 owners and make a wise choice for yourself !
PS. Just to be clear, I am not knocking Z06 owners or their cars, but what’s good for one isn’t necessarily always good for someone else !

That’s not true. I let my buddy get the hit on his C7 Grand Sport and I pass him before we get going good. The grand sport avg around 8.5s in the 1/8 and the Z06 avg around 7.2s

@@johnmoorhousedecorated-nam899 that is not true, period unless something is wrong with that Z06. I drag race regularly and I’ve never loss to a stock grand sport in the 1/8 mile. At my track it’s only an 1/8 mile track. Your friend need to get his car checked or get a driver mod upgrade.
