Man, the El Capistan is such a great pedal. I ended up selling mine to get a Timeline because I thought presets and midi would be more convenient, but it just doesn’t sound as good in the dTape mode.
@@LeonTodd Yeah I think the Timeline is an overkill... The El Capistan is almost Plug&Play. I have been using it for the last 6 years, can't see myself replacing it.
@@LeonTodd It's a really simple modeler! I bought it as a part of a simplified pedalboard for my original band, but ended up writing a ton of stuff with it when I got it using the built in amps. I must say the helix stuff shines best used with 3rd party IR's. The stock cabs sound just a bit less alive compared to real mic'd stuff or IR's.
It will probably be difficult to get a hold of, it was here in the States...but try out the G-Lab SD1 Smooth Delay if you get the chance!! It’s an incredible Delay Leon!!
Did you notice that the dry signal even though it is supposed to be analog dry through suffers a tonal change when the pedal is turned on? I find this to be on all Strymon digital FX. The tone gets a subtle boost to the treble and the bass much like the effect of the 'loudness' button on a Hi Fi amp of old.
Try the Barber Direct Drive... Honestly, it's an unsung hero of drive pedals. I'd be willing to mail you mine if you'd like to give it a go. I've had it for 15 years and tried to replace it with the new-hot-stuff pedal of the month... and the DD just keeps kickin' ass.
I owned one of these and foolishly sold it. Easily one of my favourite drive pedals, and i agree that it's SUPER underrated. I'll try track another down.
Yes yes...that was a foolish sell :)! I feel that way about my old El Cap, actually. My little board used to be the DD and El Cap into a Budda SuperDrive. I miss that rig hard!
Do a "Can you get a good tone out of a Metal Zone?" video you can but because of the parametric ± 15db of mid it's possible to make some awful noises with it. Try and save the reputation of this much maligned pedal.
That video playing in the background during the intro. 😂

The crinkle control is sick!

I just can't say enough good things about your demos! What a fine playing!
Too kind mate!
Just got my first modeler because of your videos (HX STOMP). Must say I'm happy I've got it, I'm writing a ton of new songs with it! Cheers Leon
Awesome. I'd really like to try one of those. The best pieces of gear are the ones that inspire you to create music :)

I've got one - it's very versatile. Check out the hidden functions too. Cheers
The crinkle control is great and the reverb is a nice bonus. Very cool pedal.

Oooh that thing looks NICE
Leon Todd it will shock you how good it is. Tried looking around and there’s one for say in Japan...kinda close to you...just FYI

Totally agree with you
Those AD/DA just improve the tone. Imo they do you enormous favour. My guitar after any Strymon pedal sounds always better.
Why is there a video of Johnny Demarco playing in the background..?😂
Gotta pay homage to the GOAT
Johnny DeMarco!
The true meaning of this video has been uncovered :)
Tape delay...how about T-Rex Replicator?
I really want a legit tape delay. I used to own the T-Rex Replica and it was divine.
