At 11:58, it cuts to Ricky(Bob Hope) walking over to open the closet door, it cuts out what Fred(Desi) says to Ricky(Bob) to get him up & over there to open that door.. someone's got some 'splainin' to do
Those were the days of great tv. Back in the 50's..God I miss those..clean tv shows...it was good family fun...look at the crap now days...blood and guns and crap....not worth a damn...
Now you see what "I Love Lucy" would've looked like if CBS had their way to move the Arnazes to NYC to televise live and kinnie for the West. BTW, Desilu was nice to provide the actual set's decor elements - but note the wider panels by the entry door - gives the apartment more space...those shadows are killer --
Plus NBC, ABC and DUMONT network we're interested in the show. So it would of most likely been on kinescope on one of those networks most likely like this on kinescope if CBS had not picked up the show.
Love all these takeoffs especially of I Love Lucy. She took the mickey out of her own show but she would go on to work with Bob in Fancy Pants & The Facts Of Life. Has to ask the question why we all have to leave this life for whatever is beyond. We fall in love with these wonderful people like we know them but they leave us....with great memories of shows like this. Bob got to 100 & he was great & sadly Lucy was the last to go of the 4 of them. No-one lives forever I guess, this is the sad truth. Long live Lucy.
Desi published a book...in it..his family goes back generations of Cuban descendants..and political agenda in Cuba way before Castro...(100 yrs)..before..too!
I feel like Bob Hope uses his humour to make a few subtle digs at Desi. given that Bob and Lucy were good friends and Desi wasn't quiet about his cheating I wonder if this was his way of getting something back

In other shows and later interviews, she spoke with her normal voice, which was also hoarse from smoking. That's why she sounded like "a man" later on.

Lucy did the same "seal playing the horn" act in the I Love Lucy pilot.
I'm sure writer Madelyn Pugh acted it out to make sure it would work.

Well Hope wasn't particularly faithful to Dolores, so he was no one to talk.
Hope was friends with Desi, too. Desi had been the bandleader on Hope's radio show.
It's just a show. Not real. Bob Hope and Lucille Ball were great friends. Of course they all were.
