Yes because with Tyler, they acknowledged barely being friends before the supernatural brought them together. They were in the same circle and had parents who had to work closely together but they were not close or 1:1 friends. They immediately went from no friendship to a few intense moments bonding them and creating instant chemistry before having to be friends because of circumstances they had to work through and not wanting to hurt Matt. But the chemistry was always there from the beginning they became close so it worked as friends to lovers. Stefan and Caroline were truly just friends with no romantic chemistry until they forced it. It would have been so nice to see friends who could stay friends the way it was with Lexi
Bonnie and Damon were a way better fit for the friends to lovers trope. There chemistry was electric and there story had the perfect romantic set up for it. First they started out as rivals/enemies who barely tolerated each other,then they became best friends willing to do anything to protect each other. If they were to become a couple it would've felt more natural than Stefan and Caroline.

He would do things just to make her react and she barely held him accountable like she should've when he acted like a man child. Bonnie, on the other hand, would do all the things Elena couldn't and that's why I feel like he deserved someone like her and not Elena.
I feel like Stefan and Caroline could’ve built up a lot better. In late s4 I started seeing the chemistry, HEAVY in s5. But instead of building up the relationship in s5, they brought back the love triangle with Stefan & Elena. So when s6 happened it felt like Caroline’s feelings were kind of out of nowhere and really one sided. He had no problem picking Elena but was so hesitant to return Caroline’s feelings. After Stefan lost his memories in s5, he should’ve had a crush on Caroline, instead of Elena, it would’ve been shocking and interesting.
This could definitely be an unpopular take but I think Stefan was at his BEST when he wasn’t involved in a romantic plotline. His relationship with Klaus was super interesting and I wish we could’ve seen more of kinda how he hates klaus bit also feels understood by him. His relationship w Damon was obviously a big part of his character and a reason why the show was good. His ripper plotline was also fine and then in the end his mom and all that stuff. The whole point of Stefan was sorta that he’s just a really good guy with an ugly side, and I feel like most of the plot would’ve been the same if they just didn’t give him another love interest after Elena.
FULLY AGREE! when hes not simping after a woman or involved with one romantically, he's SO fascinating to watch. People don't give him enough credit, and he's so underrated. hot take, i found damon extremely boring after s2. Now, stefan? the most interesting male character ( aside from klaus ) on this show IMO.
Steroline is a relationship I can never get behind because it truly felt as if the writers were given the news that Nina was not going to renew her contract after season 6 and therefore, they could not begin the story of Elena finding her way back to Stefan and needed another main cast member to fill in for Elena as Stefan’s main love interest for the remainder of the series. Lexi even tells Stefan he’s replaced her, his PLATONIC best friend, with Caroline, who loves Stefan as a friend but is in love with Tyler! Season 5 rolls around and the show just destroys Caroline and Tyler’s well written and developed romance by having them behave completely out of character, especially Caroline in regards to Klaus. They needed something so unforgivable that Tyler and Caroline’s relationship could not be salvaged and they accomplished it. Then Tyler left the show bc they killed off his next love interest and had no plan for his character. And we start season 6 with a small time jump that sees Stefan has a new life, and a new girlfriend who he was prepared to start grooming to tell the truth about his vampirism too before Enzo found him. Caroline went from seeing Stefan as a friend to being absolutely head over heels in love with him without any buildup whatsoever. And to make it worse, Stefan treats her like utter garbage for over half of season 6 before he gets interested in her as a project once they learn of Liz’s cancer diagnosis. Elena admitted in season 4 that Stefan loves a project and wants to fix her and that’s what their relationship was built upon until she changed her mind in season 4. So Stefan shifted his savior complex onto Caroline and started using it to ingratiate himself back into her good graces after refusing to even apologize to her for abandoning her or leaving her to care for Ivy! He has Alaric and Damon trying to convince him to date her in the thanksgiving episode and he is still not at all interested! He only does at her mother’s funeral and Caroline places her decision to flip her humanity switch on whether Stefan likes her back or not! In the day she buries her mother no less!! That is not who Caroline Forbes is as a character and they turned her into that to get her with Stefan. Then Stefan goes against her wishes for one year of no pain bc he believes he’s her trigger, and not her newly dead mother! It’s insanely selfish and gross. Then he sacrifices himself for Damon while she’s giving birth and chooses to run and sleep with Valerie for three whole years while Rayna was locked up and neutralized!!! He didn’t need convincing and spent more time with Valerie than he ever did with Elena or Caroline. He very willingly turns himself over to the devil and then becomes human and tries effortlessly to martyr himself while Caroline tries to stop him. He uses the day she’s planned her whole Life for as a ruse to lure Katherine out and then sacrifices himself to stay behind to FIND ELENA and give his life for Damon to be with his ex girlfriend and widows his wife on the night of their honeymoon. That is not an epic love story and he settled for her! She deserved SO much better!!

I was so disappointed at Caroline’s ending because her character arc is SO good too 😢
100% agree! I never once believed that Stefan loved Caroline more than he did Elena, and it’s a shame because she deserved to be someone’s first choice! Elena was always his first choice, but Caroline just felt convenient. I wonder how it would have ended between them because Julie Plec recently said that Stelena would have been endgame if Nina came back for the whole season

So it would have been interesting to see how they navigated ending Steroline since stelena would have come back if Nina did.
Exactly. She was Matt’s second choice. Tyler chose revenge over her. She was Klaus’ first choice, but he chose revenge against Tyler and his need to stay evil over her. There was always something or someone else worth giving up Caroline over, and she didn’t deserve that
She dated Damon (if you can call it a relationship), Matt, Tyler, and Stefan. Let's add Alaric, although this is the weirdest thing that the screenwriters could do. These are five guys in about 10 years featured in the series. It's not that much. For some reason, some people (I'm not talking about you) like to reproach her for this, although she had a serious relationship with most of this list. But it's much better than dating brothers.

i will forever maintain that katherine and stefan shouldve been endgame. any other show and i wouldnt root for them (due to katherine's obviously-abusive past towards the salvatores and all of her war crimes)... but this show allowed for the most gut-churningly evil of men to be redeemed, so why not katherine ig
@@zaddyfaye6880i don’t think katherine and stefan should end up together. it wouldn’t make sense. i feel like stefan was adament on being done with katherine and was consistent on the times he’s stated how he hurt him and his brother. there was never a chance for it to work, and him and his brother made sure of that. yeah they had their little kisses here and make out seshes there but it just felt like a little blast from the past. katherine could still have her redemption, just without stefan.

I agree with every point you made!! and I think the biggest issue I had with them that you mentioned was just the dullness of their relationship and how apathetic Stefan is towards their relationship especially compared to how he was with Elena it felt like he DIDNT CARE and also you’re so right there was no angst or anything like Damon should’ve been teasing Stefan about making flirty comments towards Caroline or Caroline and Bonnie having a big conversation about her feelings towards Stefan and there was none of that it felt like such a back burner relationship that the writers didn’t care about

Oddly enough… I feel like with something like a partner swap things could’ve been better. For example, in a world where Delena just absolutely has to be a thing, Enzo is pretty flirty with Caroline upon arrival and given his lack of previous interaction with the group and his only real tie-in being Damon I feel like having Enzo and Caroline be together works better because it isn’t someone from their same small town circle, he isn’t an ex of Elena (which like Tyler puts him above Matt and Stefan), and he has no prior main relationship to compare to and it won’t play into a previous insecurity. With Bonnie, her and Enzo are cool but I could’ve seen her and Stefan work out together and they would’ve done the friends to lovers better because there’s always been a certain level of respect there especially in the earlier seasons. They are both tragic characters who sacrifice for others, they tend to be on the “good” end of the spectrum, and while Stefan is Elena’s ex that isn’t something Bonnie would be insecure about so it wouldn’t matter. Other options for Stefan would be a redeemed Katherine who kinda deserved it (or sticking him with a guy) and for Bonnie I could see Matt being another option for her.

It’s the same way that she has no issue with letting Bonnie be the most powerful character on the show but at the same time wants to make it clear she’s undesirable and/or unwanted by everyone else so it’s off that the first time she truly lets a main character love her (during her time in charge because I’m not giving her props for Jeremy) is when that main character isn’t another white-passing good looking guy. Like, there will never be a day where I do not give Plec and her little minion Dries the side-eye.
If they wanted a friends to lovers arc that trumped the 'only one great love' of stelena vs delena they needed to go with stefan/lexie (that always had vibes like they might have hooked up once before) and got around killing her or found a way to bring her back. hell lexie kinda ended up being stefan's endgame in the afterlife 😅or bamon (and i don't even ship them that much) because their isolation together making them actually bond and become friends, and that potentially growing into something more while elena was 'dead' would have made sense and they would have been able to mine a lot of angst to keep things interesting. but personally i think the endgames that made the most narrative sense were damon/elena, stefan/katherine, and caroline/tyler(i have come around to klaroline, but honestly klaus worked so much better on the originals removed from all the tvd kids and their drama so i wouldn't want him dragged back just for a ship). hell forwood was already a friends to lovers arc before steroline and it was 10x better. unfortunately this leaves bonnie with the few viable love interests she had that all kinda flopped, though i'm one of the few people that did think enzo and her were cute and had chemistry, just wish we actually SAW the development of their relationship instead of just having to accept it happened during the timeskip.

Julia plec's decision of keep reliving their relationship such Stefan losing his memories and redoing all their important memories, the what if elena and Stefan future if they became human again. The only relationship that I felt had a chance for Stefan was Katherine, because they had unsolved issues and Katherine's whole personality could've been interesting

They were boring !! They had a good friendship that never developed into chemistry or romance or passion, it still seemed as a friendship. They deserved better than each other. It was weird and random. Plus, Stefan seemed as if he didn’t want her 😂😂
Yeah, it was another uncomfortable relationship because it felt like Stefan got with Caroline because it was the only way to keep her in his life as a close companion. She had become his best friend (I actually really did feel their friendship and putting them together killed it for yet another romance we didn't need), and he looks so desolate when she confessed to having feelings for him. You're spot on about how blasé Stefan was about the relationship; to me it felt like he'd accepted he couldn't be with Elena and that knowledge sent him into a depression that he leant on Caroline to ease. Another issue for me was that they had such great chemistry as friends (imo) but not as a couple. Conversely, as you said, Delena had sizzling chemistry and for my part, I felt Stelena had a deep, soft love. Before this becomes an embarrassing rant, I'll restrain myself to finishing with yet another reason I didn't believe the pairing, and that was that Steroline felt like one more way the show was beating us over the head with Delena being 'OTP'.
I know this is a very unpopular opinion because I never liked Klaus (idk he was so creepy to me. Soooo creepy.) but Caroline had the sweetest relationship with Tyler with a sprinkle of contrast/enemies to lovers while being initially friends that just pushed all the right buttons for my brain. They were SO good, and if the writers didn't have an obvious preference for Klaus they could have been such a strong endgame. Everyone seems to think that the ship stopped working because (duh) Tyler died, but Klaus made it so messy way before that! I don't know, there were tons of times when I was watching the show, looking at them forced to lie to each other/be against each other and having Caroline so infatuated with Klaus for literally no reason that I thought just how much they had to regress Caroline's journey and personality to made it make sense. As per Stephan (and again, this is another unpopular opinion but); I was SO sure that he was going to be Elena's endgame. The early seasons were everything for these two and I never found them as boring as the fandom made them seem! In fact I was really protective of them because I love a good star-crossed lovers, reincarnated and destined to find each other again in every timeline. It's such a sweet, dramatic longing that when done right can create an amazing dynamic and relationship. The show was SO adamant on selling them as the destined, reincarnated couple that when Elena ultimately chose Damon I felt so betrayed! It came out as so egotistical only because the narrative of a never ending cycle of falling in love was already stablished. And of course you can write that type of couple breaking up for several reasons, maybe you'd want to highlight the individuallity of one of the reincarnations as a person or their own, destiny be damned. But it's always going to read as choosing the self before the relationship and (sadly), that portrays as a self-centered trait that is going to stay with you. Idk, her romance with Damon felt so cheap all of the time, it's like they prioritised physical attraction before everything else and physical attraction is not everlasting, not to that degree. Elena and Damon didn't really have anything in common apart from that, so I always questioned if they would last as a couple at all. Yeah, they were interesting and hot in the moment, but a relationship is so much more than that and, again and linking with Klaus and Caroline, the show did prioritise sooo much physical attraction and relationships without a strong base than actual relationships that I could see working in the long run. Damon should have ended with Bonnie had the board of directors not been so insanely racists I SAID WHAT I SAID.
Damon and Elena lived whole human life married with kids. They obviously worked as a long lasting couple. And just your preference speaking here, not facts.

To me Stefan and Caroline worked better as friends, as a couple it was... WTF. And I'm not a Delena fan either, the writting on TVD was awful! In everyway possible.
I finished vampire diaries for the first time and man. The fact Stefan decided to die on his wedding day says it all to me. I was not impressed with Stefan as Caroline's partner at all... Even his wedding proposal was lack luster, "Do i even need to say?" Like who says that to someone they want to propose to? Or who runs off with their first love, gets back with them while "protecting" you? To me it seemed liked an excuse to do what he wanted to, which was run away and ghost Caroline again! Another thing that stuck out to me was when he mentioned at the Miss Mystic Falls competition how this is where Damon snaked Elena from him. In season 8 mind you, so hes been on and off with Caroline for like two seasons. I HATED them together, I HATED how Caroline made excuses for him. How she was more concerned for him than Bonnie when he murdered Enzo. Stefan made Caroline weak. It honestly seemed like Stefan settled for second best. Which terrible considering Caroline had a whole arc about getting over that fear. Truly I think Stefan LOVED Elena. Yeah he would ice her out too but definitely not to the degree he did Caroline when they were together.
I love the best-friends-to-lovers trope, it’s actually one of my favorites, and Caroline and Stefan could have been perfect if only they’d truly been given a chance. The show spent too much time having Stefan reject her, or reiterating that Stelena were “mean to be”. At one point the relationship between Stefan and Caroline started feeling too much like a brother-sister one, and the tension that was built came too little too late. So much time in S6 is spent having other characters telling Stefan that he is in love with Caroline… I mean, come on, where is the subtlety? Where’s the true romance? They should have worked on actually building up a potential love story between them in the previous seasons instead of spending so much screen time on Katherine obsessing over Stefan or Caroline having sex with Klaus in the woods! (I wrote this comment before watching the video, so if I just repeat something that was already said, my bad!)
I think it was said that they always planned to have Stefan and Elena end up together but there wasn't enough time. It showed in the writing too that Stefan and Caroline were just a stop along the way. There were many moments where it felt like Elena was a ghost between them and they were both quite aware that Elena was his true love and that he'd never love Caroline the same way. It leads me to believe that Stefan and Caroline were never meant to be a big thing or maybe not even planned to happen until Nina decided to leave. If they were planned to happen even if Nina stayed, I think it would have only been to give Stefan something to do whilst delena was going on and then they would have circled back to stelena like they planned.. Even at the end when Stefan couldn't end up with Elena because of time constraints they decided to give him death rather than an endgame with Caroline. I think an endgame with Elena would have been the only endgame they would have found acceptable to keep Stefan alive for.
See I want to like this couple. I really do. The first time I watched the show I was rooting for them, but upon rewatch, it does seem like Stefan settled, which sucks because Caroline had Klaus who practically worshipped the ground she walked on. I definitely think the Klaroline ship would make for an interesting video topic too💗
They would've done better with making Damnon and Bonnie end up together than having this mess happen. At least Bonnie and Damon had more chemistry and they went from enemies to friends and could've been lovers too. But nooooo. 🙄

Yea, its maturity was beyond what's expected on a YA-show, but I think it's really healthy as a counterbalance to all the typical relationships of this show/genre.
One of the great relationships sacrificed on the altar of shipping. These two were great friends and had a great dynamic that was ruined because guys and girls who have chemistry with one another in tv shows can not just be friends.

When i first watched it i wa sso happy to see them together bc i just wanted stefan to move on bc delena was sailing already. And i was like okay this is good finally. But getting older i understand why people said this ship sucks so bad. Like it teally might be the worst ship of the tvdu and it’s on par with handon in legacies and they had a set up and everything. Like it sucks soooo bad. I liked delena but now older i am like THAT IS THE SHIP!!! Like all the guys that she dated didn’t like her first and thought she was annoying and too much and not enough. With matt was the same and Tyler talked shit abt her until they started being friends, and Stefan never liked from the beginning!!! And Matt and Tyler worked bc when it came to being together they started treating her right and loving her and chasing her and the sexual chemistry was good bc the actors were into it, with stefan it wasn’t like that at all. They didn’t have the epicness bc they didn’t plan for it and they always wanted to make stefan be in love with elena so they started it in s6 when elena left like??? It’s such a bad writing. His relationships always lacked the sexual tension and maybe with valerie it was the best, they shouldn’t have involved care at all bc it didn’t work, with valerie atleast she was his first love and she was pregnant with his child and she abandoned him and it just was so much better then all the caroline stuff. Because it came before. And them having a chance to live their love when they couldn’t until Stefan dies would have been perfect. How i wished that Stefan’s kid didn’t die or sthg, it was soo sad that storyline. So yeah the actor just felt like gay maybe that’s why he had chemistry with klaus and klefan exists😂 but for real this relationship was SO BAD!!! i never realized just how much it sucked. They k*lled Tyler for nothing when she should have ended up with him or even Enzo bc he was flirting with her. Like where wass the flirting the chasing the angst the sexual chemistry with steroline??? So freaking bad. That scene is s2 at the bathroom was the only chemistry they had that it made sense. Never again!!!!! And the friends to lovers is idk hard trope to do in my opinion. One should always be a little in love till they figure out they have feelings and i mean the boy but in this case it was caroline in s6 who realized like the build up it was just nothing. And yeah stefan really couldn’t be bothered and no one wants to see a relationship like that. I don’t want to say the guy is supposed to chase the girl but i mean comeee onnnnnn!!! Valerie was kind of the best after Elena, it was always about the triangle anyway and Elena and Katherine and Damon and that’s how it ended, with the four of them, so they shouldn’t have included Care because she didn’t belong in this circle which started this whole thing, and she wasn’t the love of his life like that’s just bs. In theory it could have worked but execution was so terrible.
To be honest with you everyone was everyone's rebound. like when Stefan and Elena broke up, she went to his brother, Damon When Vicki died, jeremy went with anna(his otp, I don't care) and then when anna died he went with bonnie, and still went with anna (ghost anna) bonnie and jeremy broke up and then bonnie went with the witch boy (I forgot his name) until he got incinerated and then went with enzo and then he died (tragic) caroline went with tyler then matt then back with tyler and then klaus, then with jesse and alaric? then finally stefan Like this whole thing was frickin crazy.
I totally agree. They had opportunity to build the friends to lovers from season 2 but they dropped the ball on it. I boarded the steroline train in season 2 but after watching her with Tyler and Klaus, the execution of steroline ended up falling slightly flat, which breaks my heart because I loved them so much in season 2. I think they hadn't planned to have them end up together or they would have built it more from her transformation in season 2.
It's wild that you think Stefan and Caroline weren't well established or didn't have scenes together in earlier seasons, when it's literally half of both of their screentime in season 2 and season 4. They had so many scenes, and they were exactly what you say is missing: playful and fun. I personally hated how the writers transitioned them from friends to lovers, but I disagree fundamentally that the friend thing came out of nowhere in season 5 when they had friend dates all the time since season 2 and had the cute, fun flirty friendship and banter. I think season 6 is where they went downhill fast with writing them as couple, but the buildup was there. Like, can't convince you it wasn't boring because that's subjective, but the objective part is that half the staff you complain about is factually not true.
I felt like a better "friends to lovers" trope would have been with Lexi and Stephen. They had way more chemistry in my opinion. Too bad she was killed off so quickly...

They have said a few times in season 2 they had their ending planned out… then Nina left so they let the Delena ending happen. I do feel like they put Stefan and Caroline so they had someone. Nina and Ian also had a lot of chemistry bc they were dating in real life for about 3 years.

I actually used to like this ship, but for two specific reasons: 1) I adore the friends to lovers trope, 2) Stefan and Caroline were my two favorite characters on the show. But their friendship chemistry was miles better than their romantic chemistry AND the relationship was not very well-written. It definitely felt like Stefan never got completely over Elena and the writers were forcing him and Caroline to suddenly have this thing that was "even better than true love". I never got the vibe from them I got from certain other couples. Agree with the comments saying Bamon would have been a better friends to lovers option, and I don't even particularly like Damon, lol.
The reason why their relationship seemed out of left field is most likely bc it was. You can’t convince me the writers had it planned for them to be together until right before it happened. They should not have killed Stefan in the finale and had him and Caroline continue their character arcs on the Originals. This way Caroline could’ve ended up with Klaus and Stefan could have had that interesting dynamic with Klaus and even Rebekah again.
tbh i personally feel like stefan & caroline should have not been together. i loved them as friends, he helped her learn how to control herself as a vampire & she became the most self controlled vampire in the series. she came second to stefan, & he mentioned that they wouldn’t be together in season 1. she says “we’re planning a june wedding” & actually did, i do feel like if they built the chemistry throughout the series, & stefan wasn’t so fixated on elena they would’ve made a good couple, but i do love tyler & care more, tyler loved her soooo much i wish they would’ve stayed together. i don’t like the fact that the majority of the friend group literally dated each other, i wanted to at least one strong couple last from the beginning to end
I agree with some points in this video-they definitely killed the momentum of the Steroline ship multiple times and for slow burns that’s nails in the coffin. But I disagree that it has to be sparks/fireworks for friends to lovers to work. It’s entertainment and fiction so of course it’s always better to amp up that facet of the romance. But real, mature relationships can be just stable and built on trust and good communication and consensual affection. It’s usually not as fun to see but it can sometimes be just SO beautiful when done right. Like PamxJim from the Office. So many of their big romance moments are tender, delicate and not grandiose. But it’s so heartwarming and believable!! But that was NOT what Steroline was AT ALL. It was just bluh. The moment of Stefan shutting her down at her mom’s funeral was just…that’s when it was ruined for sure imo. For sure such a poor writing choice.
A good friends to lovers (“lovers” because Joss Whedon made every relationship in this universe tragic) in a show is Cordelia and Angel from the shows “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” and “Angel the Series”. They start and meet in “Buffy” and then transition into the offshoot show “Angel”. She was into him more; they engaged in other relationships; they had some scenes together but not many until “Angel”; they were definitely friends who both had fun and suffered a lot together; they were jealous over each other; there was pining; some of the sexy scenes they did have… *sparked* . Another friends to lovers I really enjoy is Patrick Jane and Teresa Lisbon from “The Mentalist”. *Really* slow burn - takes almost the entire show until they get together but it’s so worth it. Never understood the people that said they couldn’t see it. Patrick and Teresa’s relationship is all about trust, understanding each other, learning and working with one another’s quirks and waiting for the right time: and it won’t ever be right time until Patrick has avenged his wife and daughter’s murder. He truly can’t move on and let himself be happy - be with another women and start a new family, or even just admit his love - until he has avenged his family’s murder and absolved himself as much as possible. And Teresa knows this and helps him as much as possible. She keeps him on the straight and narrow and engaging with life; he helps her be fun and spontaneous, to think outside the box and to not be so afraid. I love them so much! A friends to lovers I found interesting was in the first season of the show “Charmed” between Prue and Andy. I say it was interesting because it was non-linear. We meet them as adults who haven’t seen each other in many years but were childhood friends who dated on and off. In their time apart Andy had married and divorced and Prue had been engaged to an arsehole but dumped him. They met again, sparks flew and then fell into old habits and had a one night stand. But she did actually want to date him so they decided to take it slow and then because of her new witchy powers and destiny Prue felt like she had to keep Andy at arms length; that was the main point of contention of the season. Despite not actually seeing them as friends previously (except for a few scenes with them as children in a time travel episode) the actors do a really great job of selling the idea of these characters having known each other basically their whole lives and having a slightly messy sexual/romantic history. The pining scenes are filled with epic pining and when Prue comes across the ex-wife her mix of jealousy, hurt, confusion is palpable and makes the scene a bit hard and uncomfortable to see. Andy’s feelings of constantly being shut out of the life of someone he both cares about and has known forever is constantly present. It’s not my favourite but I do think this is an interesting take on the friends to lovers trope and because of its uniqueness I always remember it.
I would prefer if the writters brought back someone from Stefan's past, someone that maybe crossed his life at some point, a new actress that he could really have chemistry, we as audience could see a little bit of them in flashabcks when she appears for us, and then they could develop slowly in the present, bringing back some feelings that didn't have time to grow much in the past, like what happened in season 7 , but with someone more sympathetic than Valerie and that not die.
The whole show became s@it by season 4. Not the topic in the video but making Damon this misunderstood bad boy just because little girls think he's cute was f@@king stupid. Damon was beyond evil in the early seasons and he did r@pe Caroline.
Stefan and Caroline could be been saved simply if the writers would've just let GO of Stefan and Elena in season 4. They made Stefan OBSESSED with Elena’s sirebind and her vampirism, and because of that, it made it more people believe that Caroline is the second choice.

I agree ! I always be hardcore stelena fan. I think steroline could have been amazing if written just better but fully they were the most Mature which is rare in ya! I adore Serena’s videos , but the one thing I respectfully disagree with her on is delena being passionate about, to me they’re jsut straight toxic and tbh they were the most boring to me. Let’s be real the real reason nobody supported this relationship is because there was no chemistry. I don’t think it’s any deeper than that. Stephan and Lexi were friends for decades and they had chemistry. They would’ve been a perfect couple. But due to the fact, they killed Lexi off they had to turn to Caroline. Caroline barely had any chemistry with anybody to be honest. That’s just my hot take. I just realized, why did this and Valerie end up together? They actually had chemistry.

TVD writers were so much better at enemies to lovers than friends to lovers. That's why when they started hinting at Steroline getting together in season 5 I was so upset. I knew it would ruin their friendship and it did. By the time they actually got together I had grown to hate Stefan, particularly because of how he treated Caroline.
It’s because Caroline felt like Stefan’s last choice, not bad enough he rejected her in s1, but even when he was single he never liked her like that and was always into Elena. In s5 they had many moments but brought back the love triangle. Even when Stefan lost his memories (the perfect opportunity) they made him crush on Elena instead of Caroline, solidifying even without his memories, Caroline was still his LAST choice. That’s why so many of us prefer her with Klaus, he was always crazy about her

Yes because with Tyler, they acknowledged barely being friends before the supernatural brought them together. They were in the same circle and had parents who had to work closely together but they were not close or 1:1 friends. They immediately went from no friendship to a few intense moments bonding them and creating instant chemistry before having to be friends because of circumstances they had to work through and not wanting to hurt Matt. But the chemistry was always there from the beginning they became close so it worked as friends to lovers. Stefan and Caroline were truly just friends with no romantic chemistry until they forced it. It would have been so nice to see friends who could stay friends the way it was with Lexi

Bonnie and Damon were a way better fit for the friends to lovers trope. There chemistry was electric and there story had the perfect romantic set up for it. First they started out as rivals/enemies who barely tolerated each other,then they became best friends willing to do anything to protect each other. If they were to become a couple it would've felt more natural than Stefan and Caroline.

I feel like Stefan and Caroline could’ve built up a lot better. In late s4 I started seeing the chemistry, HEAVY in s5. But instead of building up the relationship in s5, they brought back the love triangle with Stefan & Elena. So when s6 happened it felt like Caroline’s feelings were kind of out of nowhere and really one sided. He had no problem picking Elena but was so hesitant to return Caroline’s feelings.
After Stefan lost his memories in s5, he should’ve had a crush on Caroline, instead of Elena, it would’ve been shocking and interesting.
This could definitely be an unpopular take but I think Stefan was at his BEST when he wasn’t involved in a romantic plotline. His relationship with Klaus was super interesting and I wish we could’ve seen more of kinda how he hates klaus bit also feels understood by him. His relationship w Damon was obviously a big part of his character and a reason why the show was good. His ripper plotline was also fine and then in the end his mom and all that stuff. The whole point of Stefan was sorta that he’s just a really good guy with an ugly side, and I feel like most of the plot would’ve been the same if they just didn’t give him another love interest after Elena.
FULLY AGREE! when hes not simping after a woman or involved with one romantically, he's SO fascinating to watch. People don't give him enough credit, and he's so underrated. hot take, i found damon extremely boring after s2. Now, stefan? the most interesting male character ( aside from klaus ) on this show IMO.
Steroline is a relationship I can never get behind because it truly felt as if the writers were given the news that Nina was not going to renew her contract after season 6 and therefore, they could not begin the story of Elena finding her way back to Stefan and needed another main cast member to fill in for Elena as Stefan’s main love interest for the remainder of the series. Lexi even tells Stefan he’s replaced her, his PLATONIC best friend, with Caroline, who loves Stefan as a friend but is in love with Tyler!
Season 5 rolls around and the show just destroys Caroline and Tyler’s well written and developed romance by having them behave completely out of character, especially Caroline in regards to Klaus. They needed something so unforgivable that Tyler and Caroline’s relationship could not be salvaged and they accomplished it. Then Tyler left the show bc they killed off his next love interest and had no plan for his character. And we start season 6 with a small time jump that sees Stefan has a new life, and a new girlfriend who he was prepared to start grooming to tell the truth about his vampirism too before Enzo found him. Caroline went from seeing Stefan as a friend to being absolutely head over heels in love with him without any buildup whatsoever. And to make it worse, Stefan treats her like utter garbage for over half of season 6 before he gets interested in her as a project once they learn of Liz’s cancer diagnosis. Elena admitted in season 4 that Stefan loves a project and wants to fix her and that’s what their relationship was built upon until she changed her mind in season 4. So Stefan shifted his savior complex onto Caroline and started using it to ingratiate himself back into her good graces after refusing to even apologize to her for abandoning her or leaving her to care for Ivy! He has Alaric and Damon trying to convince him to date her in the thanksgiving episode and he is still not at all interested! He only does at her mother’s funeral and Caroline places her decision to flip her humanity switch on whether Stefan likes her back or not! In the day she buries her mother no less!! That is not who Caroline Forbes is as a character and they turned her into that to get her with Stefan. Then Stefan goes against her wishes for one year of no pain bc he believes he’s her trigger, and not her newly dead mother! It’s insanely selfish and gross. Then he sacrifices himself for Damon while she’s giving birth and chooses to run and sleep with Valerie for three whole years while Rayna was locked up and neutralized!!! He didn’t need convincing and spent more time with Valerie than he ever did with Elena or Caroline.
He very willingly turns himself over to the devil and then becomes human and tries effortlessly to martyr himself while Caroline tries to stop him. He uses the day she’s planned her whole
Life for as a ruse to lure Katherine out and then sacrifices himself to stay behind to FIND ELENA and give his life for Damon to be with his ex girlfriend and widows his wife on the night of their honeymoon. That is not an epic love story and he settled for her! She deserved SO much better!!

I agree with every point you made!! and I think the biggest issue I had with them that you mentioned was just the dullness of their relationship and how apathetic Stefan is towards their relationship especially compared to how he was with Elena it felt like he DIDNT CARE and also you’re so right there was no angst or anything like Damon should’ve been teasing Stefan about making flirty comments towards Caroline or Caroline and Bonnie having a big conversation about her feelings towards Stefan and there was none of that it felt like such a back burner relationship that the writers didn’t care about

For example, in a world where Delena just absolutely has to be a thing, Enzo is pretty flirty with Caroline upon arrival and given his lack of previous interaction with the group and his only real tie-in being Damon I feel like having Enzo and Caroline be together works better because it isn’t someone from their same small town circle, he isn’t an ex of Elena (which like Tyler puts him above Matt and Stefan), and he has no prior main relationship to compare to and it won’t play into a previous insecurity.
With Bonnie, her and Enzo are cool but I could’ve seen her and Stefan work out together and they would’ve done the friends to lovers better because there’s always been a certain level of respect there especially in the earlier seasons. They are both tragic characters who sacrifice for others, they tend to be on the “good” end of the spectrum, and while Stefan is Elena’s ex that isn’t something Bonnie would be insecure about so it wouldn’t matter.
Other options for Stefan would be a redeemed Katherine who kinda deserved it (or sticking him with a guy) and for Bonnie I could see Matt being another option for her.

It’s the same way that she has no issue with letting Bonnie be the most powerful character on the show but at the same time wants to make it clear she’s undesirable and/or unwanted by everyone else so it’s off that the first time she truly lets a main character love her (during her time in charge because I’m not giving her props for Jeremy) is when that main character isn’t another white-passing good looking guy.

If they wanted a friends to lovers arc that trumped the 'only one great love' of stelena vs delena they needed to go with stefan/lexie (that always had vibes like they might have hooked up once before) and got around killing her or found a way to bring her back. hell lexie kinda ended up being stefan's endgame in the afterlife 😅or bamon (and i don't even ship them that much) because their isolation together making them actually bond and become friends, and that potentially growing into something more while elena was 'dead' would have made sense and they would have been able to mine a lot of angst to keep things interesting.
but personally i think the endgames that made the most narrative sense were damon/elena, stefan/katherine, and caroline/tyler(i have come around to klaroline, but honestly klaus worked so much better on the originals removed from all the tvd kids and their drama so i wouldn't want him dragged back just for a ship). hell forwood was already a friends to lovers arc before steroline and it was 10x better. unfortunately this leaves bonnie with the few viable love interests she had that all kinda flopped, though i'm one of the few people that did think enzo and her were cute and had chemistry, just wish we actually SAW the development of their relationship instead of just having to accept it happened during the timeskip.

They were boring !! They had a good friendship that never developed into chemistry or romance or passion, it still seemed as a friendship. They deserved better than each other. It was weird and random. Plus, Stefan seemed as if he didn’t want her 😂😂
Yeah, it was another uncomfortable relationship because it felt like Stefan got with Caroline because it was the only way to keep her in his life as a close companion. She had become his best friend (I actually really did feel their friendship and putting them together killed it for yet another romance we didn't need), and he looks so desolate when she confessed to having feelings for him. You're spot on about how blasé Stefan was about the relationship; to me it felt like he'd accepted he couldn't be with Elena and that knowledge sent him into a depression that he leant on Caroline to ease.
Another issue for me was that they had such great chemistry as friends (imo) but not as a couple. Conversely, as you said, Delena had sizzling chemistry and for my part, I felt Stelena had a deep, soft love.
Before this becomes an embarrassing rant, I'll restrain myself to finishing with yet another reason I didn't believe the pairing, and that was that Steroline felt like one more way the show was beating us over the head with Delena being 'OTP'.
I know this is a very unpopular opinion because I never liked Klaus (idk he was so creepy to me. Soooo creepy.) but Caroline had the sweetest relationship with Tyler with a sprinkle of contrast/enemies to lovers while being initially friends that just pushed all the right buttons for my brain. They were SO good, and if the writers didn't have an obvious preference for Klaus they could have been such a strong endgame. Everyone seems to think that the ship stopped working because (duh) Tyler died, but Klaus made it so messy way before that! I don't know, there were tons of times when I was watching the show, looking at them forced to lie to each other/be against each other and having Caroline so infatuated with Klaus for literally no reason that I thought just how much they had to regress Caroline's journey and personality to made it make sense.
As per Stephan (and again, this is another unpopular opinion but); I was SO sure that he was going to be Elena's endgame. The early seasons were everything for these two and I never found them as boring as the fandom made them seem! In fact I was really protective of them because I love a good star-crossed lovers, reincarnated and destined to find each other again in every timeline. It's such a sweet, dramatic longing that when done right can create an amazing dynamic and relationship. The show was SO adamant on selling them as the destined, reincarnated couple that when Elena ultimately chose Damon I felt so betrayed! It came out as so egotistical only because the narrative of a never ending cycle of falling in love was already stablished.
And of course you can write that type of couple breaking up for several reasons, maybe you'd want to highlight the individuallity of one of the reincarnations as a person or their own, destiny be damned. But it's always going to read as choosing the self before the relationship and (sadly), that portrays as a self-centered trait that is going to stay with you. Idk, her romance with Damon felt so cheap all of the time, it's like they prioritised physical attraction before everything else and physical attraction is not everlasting, not to that degree. Elena and Damon didn't really have anything in common apart from that, so I always questioned if they would last as a couple at all. Yeah, they were interesting and hot in the moment, but a relationship is so much more than that and, again and linking with Klaus and Caroline, the show did prioritise sooo much physical attraction and relationships without a strong base than actual relationships that I could see working in the long run.
Damon should have ended with Bonnie had the board of directors not been so insanely racists I SAID WHAT I SAID.
Damon and Elena lived whole human life married with kids. They obviously worked as a long lasting couple. And just your preference speaking here, not facts.

I finished vampire diaries for the first time and man. The fact Stefan decided to die on his wedding day says it all to me. I was not impressed with Stefan as Caroline's partner at all... Even his wedding proposal was lack luster, "Do i even need to say?" Like who says that to someone they want to propose to? Or who runs off with their first love, gets back with them while "protecting" you? To me it seemed liked an excuse to do what he wanted to, which was run away and ghost Caroline again! Another thing that stuck out to me was when he mentioned at the Miss Mystic Falls competition how this is where Damon snaked Elena from him. In season 8 mind you, so hes been on and off with Caroline for like two seasons. I HATED them together, I HATED how Caroline made excuses for him. How she was more concerned for him than Bonnie when he murdered Enzo. Stefan made Caroline weak. It honestly seemed like Stefan settled for second best. Which terrible considering Caroline had a whole arc about getting over that fear. Truly I think Stefan LOVED Elena. Yeah he would ice her out too but definitely not to the degree he did Caroline when they were together.
I love the best-friends-to-lovers trope, it’s actually one of my favorites, and Caroline and Stefan could have been perfect if only they’d truly been given a chance.
The show spent too much time having Stefan reject her, or reiterating that Stelena were “mean to be”. At one point the relationship between Stefan and Caroline started feeling too much like a brother-sister one, and the tension that was built came too little too late. So much time in S6 is spent having other characters telling Stefan that he is in love with Caroline…
I mean, come on, where is the subtlety? Where’s the true romance?
They should have worked on actually building up a potential love story between them in the previous seasons instead of spending so much screen time on Katherine obsessing over Stefan or Caroline having sex with Klaus in the woods!

I think it was said that they always planned to have Stefan and Elena end up together but there wasn't enough time. It showed in the writing too that Stefan and Caroline were just a stop along the way. There were many moments where it felt like Elena was a ghost between them and they were both quite aware that Elena was his true love and that he'd never love Caroline the same way. It leads me to believe that Stefan and Caroline were never meant to be a big thing or maybe not even planned to happen until Nina decided to leave. If they were planned to happen even if Nina stayed, I think it would have only been to give Stefan something to do whilst delena was going on and then they would have circled back to stelena like they planned.. Even at the end when Stefan couldn't end up with Elena because of time constraints they decided to give him death rather than an endgame with Caroline. I think an endgame with Elena would have been the only endgame they would have found acceptable to keep Stefan alive for.
See I want to like this couple. I really do. The first time I watched the show I was rooting for them, but upon rewatch, it does seem like Stefan settled, which sucks because Caroline had Klaus who practically worshipped the ground she walked on. I definitely think the Klaroline ship would make for an interesting video topic too💗

Seeing their story in isolation I realized what the writers were doing and I became a lot more appreciative of how mature Steroline was. Yea, its maturity was beyond what's expected on a YA-show, but I think it's really healthy as a counterbalance to all the typical relationships of this show/genre.

When i first watched it i wa sso happy to see them together bc i just wanted stefan to move on bc delena was sailing already. And i was like okay this is good finally. With Stefan, he only tried with Elena to give his all and even that wasn’t enough bc it wasn’t like delena. His relationships always lacked the sexual tension and maybe with valerie it was the best, they shouldn’t have involved care at all bc it didn’t work, with valerie atleast she was his first love and she was pregnant with his child and she abandoned him and it just was so much better then all the caroline stuff. Because it came before. And them having a chance to live their love when they couldn’t until Stefan dies would have been perfect. How i wished that Stefan’s kid didn’t die or sthg, it was soo sad that storyline. So yeah the actor just felt like gay maybe that’s why he had chemistry with klaus and klefan exists😂 but for real this relationship was SO BAD!!! i never realized just how much it sucked. Valerie was kind of the best after Elena, it was always about the triangle anyway and Elena and Katherine and Damon and that’s how it ended, with the four of them, so they shouldn’t have included Care because she didn’t belong in this circle which started this whole thing, and she wasn’t the love of his life like that’s just bs. In theory it could have worked but execution was so terrible.

I totally agree. They had opportunity to build the friends to lovers from season 2 but they dropped the ball on it. I boarded the steroline train in season 2 but after watching her with Tyler and Klaus, the execution of steroline ended up falling slightly flat, which breaks my heart because I loved them so much in season 2. I think they hadn't planned to have them end up together or they would have built it more from her transformation in season 2.
It's wild that you think Stefan and Caroline weren't well established or didn't have scenes together in earlier seasons, when it's literally half of both of their screentime in season 2 and season 4. They had so many scenes, and they were exactly what you say is missing: playful and fun. I personally hated how the writers transitioned them from friends to lovers, but I disagree fundamentally that the friend thing came out of nowhere in season 5 when they had friend dates all the time since season 2 and had the cute, fun flirty friendship and banter. I think season 6 is where they went downhill fast with writing them as couple, but the buildup was there. Like, can't convince you it wasn't boring because that's subjective, but the objective part is that half the staff you complain about is factually not true.
I felt like a better "friends to lovers" trope would have been with Lexi and Stephen. They had way more chemistry in my opinion. Too bad she was killed off so quickly...

I actually used to like this ship, but for two specific reasons: 1) I adore the friends to lovers trope, 2) Stefan and Caroline were my two favorite characters on the show. But their friendship chemistry was miles better than their romantic chemistry AND the relationship was not very well-written. It definitely felt like Stefan never got completely over Elena and the writers were forcing him and Caroline to suddenly have this thing that was "even better than true love". I never got the vibe from them I got from certain other couples. Agree with the comments saying Bamon would have been a better friends to lovers option, and I don't even particularly like Damon, lol.
The reason why their relationship seemed out of left field is most likely bc it was. You can’t convince me the writers had it planned for them to be together until right before it happened. They should not have killed Stefan in the finale and had him and Caroline continue their character arcs on the Originals. This way Caroline could’ve ended up with Klaus and Stefan could have had that interesting dynamic with Klaus and even Rebekah again.
tbh i personally feel like stefan & caroline should have not been together. i loved them as friends, he helped her learn how to control herself as a vampire & she became the most self controlled vampire in the series. she came second to stefan, & he mentioned that they wouldn’t be together in season 1. she says “we’re planning a june wedding” & actually did, i do feel like if they built the chemistry throughout the series, & stefan wasn’t so fixated on elena they would’ve made a good couple, but i do love tyler & care more, tyler loved her soooo much i wish they would’ve stayed together. i don’t like the fact that the majority of the friend group literally dated each other, i wanted to at least one strong couple last from the beginning to end
I agree with some points in this video-they definitely killed the momentum of the Steroline ship multiple times and for slow burns that’s nails in the coffin. But I disagree that it has to be sparks/fireworks for friends to lovers to work. It’s entertainment and fiction so of course it’s always better to amp up that facet of the romance. But real, mature relationships can be just stable and built on trust and good communication and consensual affection. It’s usually not as fun to see but it can sometimes be just SO beautiful when done right. Like PamxJim from the Office. So many of their big romance moments are tender, delicate and not grandiose. But it’s so heartwarming and believable!! But that was NOT what Steroline was AT ALL. It was just bluh. The moment of Stefan shutting her down at her mom’s funeral was just…that’s when it was ruined for sure imo. For sure such a poor writing choice.

A good friends to lovers (“lovers” because Joss Whedon made every relationship in this universe tragic) in a show is Cordelia and Angel from the shows “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” and “Angel the Series”. They start and meet in “Buffy” and then transition into the offshoot show “Angel”. She was into him more; they engaged in other relationships; they had some scenes together but not many until “Angel”; they were definitely friends who both had fun and suffered a lot together; they were jealous over each other; there was pining; some of the sexy scenes they did have… *sparked* .
Another friends to lovers I really enjoy is Patrick Jane and Teresa Lisbon from “The Mentalist”. *Really* slow burn - takes almost the entire show until they get together but it’s so worth it. Never understood the people that said they couldn’t see it. Patrick and Teresa’s relationship is all about trust, understanding each other, learning and working with one another’s quirks and waiting for the right time: and it won’t ever be right time until Patrick has avenged his wife and daughter’s murder. He truly can’t move on and let himself be happy - be with another women and start a new family, or even just admit his love - until he has avenged his family’s murder and absolved himself as much as possible. And Teresa knows this and helps him as much as possible. She keeps him on the straight and narrow and engaging with life; he helps her be fun and spontaneous, to think outside the box and to not be so afraid. I love them so much!
A friends to lovers I found interesting was in the first season of the show “Charmed” between Prue and Andy. I say it was interesting because it was non-linear. We meet them as adults who haven’t seen each other in many years but were childhood friends who dated on and off. In their time apart Andy had married and divorced and Prue had been engaged to an arsehole but dumped him. They met again, sparks flew and then fell into old habits and had a one night stand. But she did actually want to date him so they decided to take it slow and then because of her new witchy powers and destiny Prue felt like she had to keep Andy at arms length; that was the main point of contention of the season.
Despite not actually seeing them as friends previously (except for a few scenes with them as children in a time travel episode) the actors do a really great job of selling the idea of these characters having known each other basically their whole lives and having a slightly messy sexual/romantic history. The pining scenes are filled with epic pining and when Prue comes across the ex-wife her mix of jealousy, hurt, confusion is palpable and makes the scene a bit hard and uncomfortable to see. Andy’s feelings of constantly being shut out of the life of someone he both cares about and has known forever is constantly present. It’s not my favourite but I do think this is an interesting take on the friends to lovers trope and because of its uniqueness I always remember it.
I would prefer if the writters brought back someone from Stefan's past, someone that maybe crossed his life at some point, a new actress that he could really have chemistry, we as audience could see a little bit of them in flashabcks when she appears for us, and then they could develop slowly in the present, bringing back some feelings that didn't have time to grow much in the past, like what happened in season 7 , but with someone more sympathetic than Valerie and that not die.

Stefan and Caroline could be been saved simply if the writers would've just let GO of Stefan and Elena in season 4. They made Stefan OBSESSED with Elena’s sirebind and her vampirism, and because of that, it made it more people believe that Caroline is the second choice.
Maybe it’s just I prefer Elena and Stefan but to quote my previous comment on the last video I feel like Stefan more so settled for Caroline and that she wasn’t his one true epic love and tbh I don’t feel like Caroline had one either but then again I do more prefer klaus with Cami so there’s that

Stefan and Caroline didn’t work cuz Stefan still in love with Elena. Damon gaslight Stefan into thinking it was ok for Damon backstab him and gaslight him into believing that he was no longer in love with Elena. Stefan loved Caroline but was not in love with her if that makes sense

I agree ! I always be hardcore stelena fan. I think steroline could have been amazing if written just better but fully they were the most Mature which is rare in ya! I adore Serena’s videos , but the one thing I respectfully disagree with her on is delena being passionate about, to me they’re jsut straight toxic and tbh they were the most boring to me. I genuinely wish that was the one ship that didn’t happen because they’re the sole reason why the show suffered as a whole

@@mimismsxYES. so many people like to say stelena was the boring ship but it was far from boring. they’re relationship felt so real, passionate and solidified that when damon and elena got together, it was just like “ok.. now what do we do from here…”. not to mention that the beginning of their so called relationship started off with the sire bond plot which was a turn off from the entire thing. it’s like they were obviously entering into this new relationship plot, but at the same time had these implications that she was almost being forced into it and that her feelings weren’t real. even though im also a stelena fan as well, i feel like i liked the delena ship more when they weren’t together oddly enough. i loved the playful teasing banter they had together and it was more fun than their actual relationship. and i felt like elena liking damon in a romantic sense felt so odd for her character. it became awkward and too “real” when elena actually had feelings for him and when damon finally got the person he wanted who he’s been pining for after like four seasons. their relationship was more boring than anything. the “passion” people like to talk about is supposedly their spicy scenes together? stelena had that too but with delena it just felt like “okay, we have to make this relationship work bc we sacrificed everything to get here” and there wasn’t any room for what her and stefan already had. it just truly felt like a regurgitation.. like a false copy of the real thing. and you can tell they couldn’t make the relationship like stelenas so they went down the toxic, let’s break up get back together let’s break up again route.
Let’s be real the real reason nobody supported this relationship is because there was no chemistry. I don’t think it’s any deeper than that. Stephan and Lexi were friends for decades and they had chemistry. They would’ve been a perfect couple. But due to the fact, they killed Lexi off they had to turn to Caroline. Caroline barely had any chemistry with anybody to be honest. That’s just my hot take.
I just realized, why did this and Valerie end up together? They actually had chemistry.
Okay I’m only a few mins into your video but I don’t think they originally planned on “steroline” I think it was a last minute decision because for me it came out of left field I didn’t see it, they always came across as purely friends, no tension no awkwardness on Caroline’s part to show she liked him, towards the end of the show I think they wanted everyone paired up at the end because (OF COURSE) everyone is happier when in a relationship.

TVD writers were so much better at enemies to lovers than friends to lovers. That's why when they started hinting at Steroline getting together in season 5 I was so upset. I knew it would ruin their friendship and it did. By the time they actually got together I had grown to hate Stefan, particularly because of how he treated Caroline.
I really feel the chemistry when Stefan lost his memory and was trying to remember with Caroline. I think those were my favs scenes from the ship 🥹

It’s because Caroline felt like Stefan’s last choice, not bad enough he rejected her in s1, but even when he was single he never liked her like that and was always into Elena.
In s5 they had many moments but brought back the love triangle. Even when Stefan lost his memories (the perfect opportunity) they made him crush on Elena instead of Caroline, solidifying even without his memories, Caroline was still his LAST choice. That’s why so many of us prefer her with Klaus, he was always crazy about her
