Thanks for the tour of Botton village. In a world where anyone who is a little different is feared and shunned, it's great of the production team to show that we are all more alike than we are different. Beautiful cheeses made by beautiful people.
If only the world could operate as this village does, heart centered instead of profit centered. Allowing all people to feel worthy and supported, the village and farms feels an oasis of peace. I can only imagine how much better the food tastes when produced with heart.
As a parent of adult sons with special needs this is the model we need a lot more of. Most of the adults we know spend their time wandering the streets and visiting cafes with their carers because there's nothing else for them. Everyone needs a purpose and to feel part of their community. This is a great example of how that can look.
A guy I know was a carer for a kid with a terminal illness (I forget which but it was degenerative and he had a life expectancy of only 21) and I saw him walking around town with him one day. Stopped for a chat and asked where he was going. He was taking him to a local supermarket that had started doing 3D printing services (when 3D printing was new) and was paying out of his own pocket to make him a superhero model based entirely on him. Need more carers like that.
I’ve worked with numerous people with challenges in my 40 years of retail. Autistic, deaf , and the list goes on and on. They were all wonderful and if you don’t give them a chance you’re missing out.
Thank you for featuring Botton Village and the workers with special needs. I am a teacher of students with special needs and I was just smiling and beaming for them all. I'm so happy that Paul is one of my favorite chefs! You all have earned an A+ for this show! 💯
We'll be supporting Botton Village without a doubt...I've already taken a look at their website and now I'm going to share this video with friends and family. A cause very close to our hearts as we have an older brother who is now seventy four years old his name is John and he has severe learning difficulties. I think this is wonderful truly I do and I wish everyone at Botton lots of love and best wishes. Thanks for sharing such an inspirational and heartwarming video 👍
Ok Paul. Your videos generally give me some belly laughs but this one went straight to my heart. Smiling and crying at the same time. What an amazing story. Such a positive story. Hope this company is on line. Thank you for the uplifting story you old softie. 😂❤
Best episode ever! My wife and I have years of working with the disabled population in the states (northern Idaho) we love seeing the enabling and seeing the pride in their job! Thank you Sir for this episode 😊
I love each video of this beautiful old series with its history in the fields of the towns, I love onions and cheeses, thanks Paul for that delicious dish, it was fantastic! ✌️👏👍🤤😋🤤😍🧀🧀🧅🧅
I didn't know about Botton Village - what an inspiring place. If only we had more such villages. What is that phrase, it takes a village to raise a child - or somit like that. Well done. I am so impressed by their work and efforts - not to mention what delicious cheese they produce.
This place is WONDERFUL!! I used to work with mentally handicapped adults and it was so rewarding!!! I would love to work here with them AND make cheese!!
This is a very good idea for special people and gives them skills that most of us never get the chance to develop. It is a healthy way to live and work. Good luck to them.
OK, HE CUTS THE RIND OFF THE CHEESE. When we were small, the rind was the best bit to eat! It had such a great taste. I don't know how it forms but it was yummy. There are not many places today where you see this. It never did us any harm ... I'm now 77 (yesterday birthday)
I save rinds to put in sauces for extra flavour even in stuff like bolognese-thrifty tips from the past! We used to use everything and I still like shortcrust made with margarine
Oh my the farm where they give jobs and purpose to the Special Needs adults is great. This is the Dream of a Special Education teacher in Reno NV. She has an Amazing ability to bring out the best of each of her students. She has been wanting to bring a facility like this to rural NV for years. But being in rural NV is tough. Not a lot of funding. However she keeps trying. Its her love for her students future that drives her. Thank You Paul. Going to share this video with her.
This is incredible Love and the production of the cheese, perfect for your pies as much as you want! Just laughing with the smell of socks! LOL!😂😂😂...Your so great Love!!👍🏻👍🏻..Love you more! 🥰🤗💋💞🌹
Botton village looks amazing and a far cry from the mud and slurry farms we often see on BBC's Countryfile and doing a great job of providing a fulfilling life for less able workers 😀👍
I make cheese and onion pie regularly adding whatever herbs are growing on my pots. I also loved butter pies when I still lived in Lancashire. Why did I never blend the 2.???
I hope this was filmed fairly recently. I know that maybe six or so years ago the community was threatened with closure, which would have been a tragedy.
According to Camphill Village Trust, which I just Googled, it's all going well there. I agree wholeheartedly that Botton Cheese and similar enterprises are crucial alternatives to care for and work with these so-worthy folks.
The brie is camembert side. With a little more of maturity, it will be a killer (sorry, French always got a word to say when it comes to cheeses 🤣🤣🤣). Despite, I m an afficionados of your stilton (way better than our Roquefort) and cheddar which supports a north of France recipe of cheddar / beer/ bread, call "welche"
Lard, its 2024 nearly. Make a Butter Pie. (no lard) . Yorkshire cows cheese. it doesn't matter where they make the cheese, its the milk, and Yorkshire cows are like Yorkshire women, angry. And that makes a heaven of a cheese.

communism already slaughtered 100 million people, you want to try that hell again.
Wake up you dope.

I'll certainly be trying that! So nice not having to watch each potato being peeled, chopped etc.

What an amazing village. If I lived closer, I would buy cheese from them exclusively to support what they’re doing.
I visited Botton village about 45 years ago. I was blown away with the wonderful atmosphere. I still have 6 etched tumblers we bought there,
Would I like to try a piece? Yes please! A must make recipe. Thank you, Paul.
I'm jealous of the wonderful quality cheeses in the UK. It's so fabulous that quality is valued in their cheeses and other foods.

It looks delicious. Is there a recipe somewhere? I couldn't find it on his website.
Great video Paul!
Paul's a great cook the same as James martin.
Where is the recipe for the cheese and onion pie!!
Botton village looks amazing and a far cry from the mud and slurry farms we often see on BBC's Countryfile and doing a great job of providing a fulfilling life for less able workers 😀👍

My dear Paul, please demonstrante some fancy poultry dish. It Will be perfect!!!
I hope this was filmed fairly recently. I know that maybe six or so years ago the community was threatened with closure, which would have been a tragedy.

Recipe starts at 9:20
You had me at “cheese.” There isn’t a cheese I don’t like!
👍
I try and keep it in my socks last night to give it a special flavour🤣🤣(As Paul put that Brie in his mouth🤣🤣)
Looks good but I would have to caramelize the onions first...
The brie is camembert side. With a little more of maturity, it will be a killer (sorry, French always got a word to say when it comes to cheeses 🤣🤣🤣). I wish I was there I am a cheesaholic❤
Beautifull pataco pie😅
How can I get some of their cheese? Janet Eden N.C.
I get satisfaction from my work but I also expect to be paid for that work.
Back breaking work, someday this will be all gone as nut milks take over.
Gouda is pronounced Gowda, not Gooda.
Thank you for your lovely compliment. I hope my recipe was able to help you in your cooking.
Where's the bottom of the pie
لم لم تتذوقها مع الرجال.. جزء الأكل مفقود....
A great pie but unfortunately I hate it when I can feel pieces of onion in my mouth which I suspect would happen here.
You mean you didn't visit the village at Botton Paul. I can only say it was your loss as you missed a treat....
Eating all that cheese could lead to problems.
We never get to see the guest reactions
