    Alright everyone this week we are looking at a hot topic turbine spray guns. Who has the best! This week we look at the atomization of the Apollo 7700 vs Titan Maxum II. Both guns have a 1.8 Needle nozzle with air cap and were set exactly the same. I am shooting the CIC 2K white poly at a 5% reduction. I hope you enjoy the video. Thanks for watching and remember "TEST DON'T GUESS"!!!!!!!

    When you increase flow rate on the Apollo the droplet size will increase giving similar results, I own both guns and use the high solids air cap on the the 7700 which is suppose to give better atomization. I have used both guns for hundreds of hours using PPG 2K Poly and the Titan gun gives a finer finish hands down.

      Me too dude. That spray fan on the apollo deforms bad too if ya get the fluid level too high. I think the smaller air cap is the key to better finish.

  • @jeffchandler5520
    @jeffchandler5520 3 года назад +4

    I think the you should show the comparison when the fluid was increased on the 7700 to see if the coverage increased and the pattern changed. also the corner overspray test would have been more accurate if both were taped down in the corner, so the overspray didnt go behind and blow out the paper

    • @ericreason6559
      @ericreason6559  3 года назад

      Naturally it would increases the coverage the idea was to try to set the guns as close as possible so that they were set as equally. Some what impossible but at the end of the day it really doesn’t skew the results. The Apollo is still the best gun on the market.

  • @JoeProDecor

    The apollo was always going to have less overspray based on the first test because of the much finer/tighter edges..would be interesting to see the apollo overspray with the fluid setting a little higher. Great demo 👍

    Hello Eric, another couple of questions, what do you think it would be the difference, if
    any, between using sherwood catalyzed lacquer precat vs kem aqua in
    terms of quality, finish and durability? and do you think the titan
    capspray would deliver the same finish using sherwood catalyzed lacquer
    precat vs the kem aqua? thanks in advance.

    • @ericreason6559
      @ericreason6559  4 года назад +1

      hangeles80 The durability of kem aqua is the same as a pre-cat the difference is going to be early hardness. The pre-cat will dry faster than the waterbase. You can get great results with using either with a turbine.

    Can I use an Apollo 7700 gun with a Titan capspray 115 turbine? I have the Titan turbine and I was going to buy the maxum elite gun but I’ve seen so many people giving good reviews on the Apollo 7700 gun so I’m wondering if it’d a better investment to buy the Apollo . Do you think it would make any difference using different brands?

    Cool fact .. the turbine systems are simply a motor from a central vacuum cleaner . instead of spending 2000 on an apollo just look at the parts list and fina a suppliee for the motor , I bought the same motor from the 6 stage system and built my own case , even used apollo filters and some various apollo parts .. wallah 200 bucks later my system is just as good , 35 years in cabinetry and its all i use with a 7700 gun

      1.Not directly, only that its not as good as the Apollo.This video was clearly made to sell the Apollo 👎
      2.You obviously do care and that's clear from watching the video.
      3.Really? You did say the Apollo is far superior to the titan and went on to say its a no brainer to buy the Apolllo.
      4. The only person trying to prove something here is you, I'm just calling you out on the BS.
      Of course the Titan will have more overspray since its putting out more paint. Increasing the air or reducing the amount of fluid will solve this but don't tell anyone! Lets just keep that between us 😅
      Likewise with the apollo, it has less overspray since its putting out less paint. Leave it as is and increase the amount of paint it throwing out to match the Titan and it will have the same amount of overspay if not more 🤪
      Come on now, this has to be one of the most biased videos on here a not a fair comparison in my opinion!

    • @ericreason6559
      @ericreason6559  2 года назад

      @@innerarmour8347 so actually the video was made because there was an argument between these two guns in a Facebook group and at the time I was like you and believed their wasn’t any difference between the two. After this test and many others behind the scenes I changed my mind. Yes the Apollo is a better gun than the Titan gun most of that has to do with the machining of the gun and the way the air is delivered to air cap and the air cap it’s self. Also there is no way to measure the fluid output of these types of guns which can be a contributing factor to perform but the air cap on the Apollo is and the design is what reduces the overspray and causes the materials to be atomized different. The angles on the fan are totally different on the air cap and the apollo has followed the designs of the the sata and some of the higher end guns. The facts are the facts. I can’t change your view that you think it is a biassed video but I am telling you that wasn’t the intent. The intent was to try to compare the two guns and let the chips fall were they may.
