Super grateful for this video; I have a bass with active emg’s and frankly I’m getting way more sound than I want including fretting noise and screeching when I slide my fingers up the strings that I don’t get w my other basses; this just video confirmed that I’d be getting more what I’m looking for with the passive emg’s. This is the only video I found that showed me any idea of what I’d be getting.
Every day is a great day when Lonny has a new video. Although I don’t understand guitar things at all, it’s still very interesting to me. Learning something new every day! Very “QWISPY” sounds with the new pick up.
Yea they sounds good! A larger difference in tone than I was expecting. And like I say in the video, the PRS ones are great too, just a different sound.
I definitely love the new sound of the Lonny pickups! In fact, for me, when I listen, I notice a huge difference! Let's say it sounds much clearer and smoother, if I had to describe it in any way it would be like this! Thank you for always continuing to teach much more, I thought it was an excellent video! and also tell you again that thank you for everything, you are the best!
Lonny I also want to add all the changes that the technician makes to the bass it is really impressive, great job on it! really very surprising! 🎸👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I saw you guys in Wheatland, I had the poster and gave you guys some letters during the VIP! You're awesome! Been bingeing all your videos- safe travels for the rest of the tour!! Can't wait to see you guys again!! 🤘🏾
i saw you in riverside last night. it was my first bvb concert! i was the one with the pink sign that said "Im here for CC!!!" and kept yelling YA LONNY!!!!! lol i THINK CC waved at me....
These were the bass pickups you were talking to me about on our call before the Birmingham show! I can definitely tell the difference, to me, the bass pickups make the sound of the bass sound a bit crisper and cleaner as well, and the vibrations are a bit sharper with the EMGs. They're subtle differences, but definitely noticeable.
Awesome video. Happened to see if there was a video on any HZ40 Bass pickups (meant for 5 string, but fits my 4 string better.). This video is good enough to excite me for my shipment coming in a couple days to fix this same issue my bass is having. I’ll be slapping one on a Dean Edge 09 I am playing on. The tone in my opinion also sounds a lot better with the EMG, thick and cleaner! Will update you with how my upgrade goes! 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
@LonnyEagletonMusic very much so! There was no base at the last bvb show I saw so much better all around hahaha 🤣 when I saw bvb in 2014 Ash's bass was a little wacky, all you could hear hahaha, but was good
Lonny I would love to hear and see a video of you comparing your two basses, the one with active pickups and the one with regular emgs, also it sounds insane I can’t wait to see what tones you’ll use and what tones you’ll get out of those pickups!!
Sure thing! I’ll see if I can get that going here on the channel. The Actives still haven’t been installed on the other one yet, but my tech has them ready to go, so hopefully soon.
Bro, as the bass player the EMG pickups sounds way more better and very clean sound in my opinion, so you did a great job to change it and it doesn't feel the buzz anymore.
Hi Lonny. If I was to swallow an EMG 35HZ pickup and have someone slap on my belly, could I record a trap beat that way? Asking 4 a friend thx. love the video btw
Always thought HZ’s sounded muddy til I heard them with a sansamp under some fat guitars. On their own they don’t sound as good as the PRS pickups but my god are they awesome in a mix IF EQ’d properly
What has been the most complicated part of this tour and what has been the most impressive or what have you liked the most so far? Greetings from Mexico 🇲🇽🖤✨
We actually had a new FOH start with us at the beginning of this tour, so he never had any experience with us prior to the EMG swap. That being said, he did tell me that the bass was sounding nice out front.
A combination of so many things. Can’t pinpoint it to one specific person. It’s more so a collection of various bands, events, and moments during my teenage years!
@@LonnyEagletonMusic sounds about the same as i do! :D thats great! EMG´s sounded pretty cool, and BVB needs BIG lows for the bass lines! You´re sounding great man!
In my opinion, the sound of EMG Pickups is definitely lower frequency, thicker and darker. And I got so used to the PRS sound in your videos. The PRS sound is a bit higher and brighter in my opinion. Created for playing more lively crazy songs in metal music.
When I saw you put them in I was really excited. Honestly at this point you need a prs signature bass. I would definitely buy one 😂
It does sound smoother, I am glad the change works for what you wanted!
Thanks! 😎

I didn't know how much work goes into preparing for concerts. I really appreciate your dedication ✨❤️
As always a pleasure to see your videos 😊
Definitely sounds a lot smoother and more warm. Loving it🤟🏻

You should bring out the bass painted neon green one night, see what band mates reaction would be.
I can’t imagine that going over too well 😂

Wheatland was so much fun! Thanks for checking out the videos!
The "black pearl" sounds smooth- let it shine. To me playing bass or guitar is a miracle. I tried and failed. You are amazingly talented.
i usually really like emgs, but for what kinda bass tone I like i prefer the stock pickups
Fair enough. Yeah I agree both work well, just a matter of what type of sound you’re going for. 👍🏻

They sound awesome! Cool video!
LONNY THANKS FOR THE GUITAR PIC THAT YOU GIVE ME 😭 I LOVE IT ❤❤❤ THANK YOU
SORRY THAT YOU SAW ME CRYING AT THE RIVERSIDE CONCERT I COULDN'T HELP IT WAS CRYING OF HAPPINESS
THANK YOU FOR THE AMAZING EXPERIENCE 😭🖤🖤❤❤🖤❤🖤🖤❤🖤
You’re very welcome!

Def like the sound of the new pickups!
Thanks Skye! Hope they sounded good at the Winnipeg concert!

Loved both especially when on the Death Blooms riff at this point you need a prs signature bass I’d grab one lol
That is very flattering! Maybe someday 🤘🏻
@@LonnyEagletonMusic No day like today! Make the call, say the people want it!
Crisp as hell! Nice playing too.
Would be good to follow up with emg P and J pickups to expand whats there. TW might be a worthwhile option.
Those are active.. EMGhz are passive

Glad you approve! Thanks!! 🤘🏻🤘🏻
Hi Lonny. If I was to swallow an EMG 35HZ pickup and have someone slap on my belly, could I record a trap beat that way? Asking 4 a friend thx. love the video btw
I’m glad you asked! And yes absolutely you could. That’s how all the great records are made. 💿👍🏻
Noticeable change in the mid range. A lot fuller than the stock pickups.
I really like the new sound. Less noise and it's less sharp somehow.
Yeah I like it too. Been working well for out here on the road!

Sounds great
What has been the most complicated part of this tour and what has been the most impressive or what have you liked the most so far?
Greetings from Mexico 🇲🇽🖤✨
Did your front of house folk notice the change and make any comments on how the bass now sits in the mix?
We actually had a new FOH start with us at the beginning of this tour, so he never had any experience with us prior to the EMG swap. That being said, he did tell me that the bass was sounding nice out front.
Lonny, I have a question.
What person inspired you to dedicate yourself to music?
A combination of so many things. Can’t pinpoint it to one specific person. It’s more so a collection of various bands, events, and moments during my teenage years!
All the technical stuff you said was complete gibberish to me lmao. So in my very uneducated opinion, the EMG pickups make the bass sound bassier 🤘🏼
New pickups made the bass look total black now)
which string set are you using?
D’Addario XL Nickel Wound
-Drop B tuning: 55-110 (replace with 130)
-Drop C# tuning: 50-105 (replace with 125)

PRS sounded better... EMG is quite muddy.
nice guitar. love the song, ironman.
It’s a classic!
You can totally tell the difference. The EMGs do sound better. Totally sucks you have to go knobless. That Eagle.knob is so cool.
Yeah I’m going to try and figure out a way to get it on there somehow. I miss it a lot!
EMG is the best for metal! Bass or guitar alike.
In my opinion, the sound of EMG Pickups is definitely lower frequency, thicker and darker. And I got so used to the PRS sound in your videos. The PRS sound is a bit higher and brighter in my opinion. Created for playing more lively crazy songs in metal music.
Gloss black. How original.
