It would be sad to see Fanatec go out of business, people love to hate them for no reason. People tend to jump on the bandwagon as soon as some complaints rise. The truth is Fanatec makes really good hardware, and like all other products some will have problems, that's common in the manufacturing world but the majority of their shipped products works as intended. Their new quickrelease is probably the best in the market, and their new Clubsport wheelbases are really good the only issue might be they still require a Fanatec wheel to operate. In my opinion the only thing Fanatec should do is to open up for 3rd party wheels to be used without having to the expensive podium hub. People hoping they go out of business just because they use some other brand themselves are idiots. Without Fanatec we wouldn't have the gear we have today, at affordable prices, we would probably not have all these new brands either. Competition is good, nd I hope Fanatec survives

Fanatec brought the budget direct drive to the masses, we can't lose that competition in the market. There's no other company that offers even half of the options they do. I own two of their wheel rims and a universal hub for my CSL DD.

It would be easy to turn things right, considering the quality of the products was and is very good. Less sponsorships, more customer service. At a certain point, right when competition on the market became fierce, they started shitting on the chest of their customers with the result to erase their huge fan base. In my case, when by the end of last year I was about to upgrade my rig with a direct drive base, I looked at Fanatec but the hundreds of complains about shipping time and post sell customer service made me look towards Moza (and I'm really happy about the R12 + KS Wheel combo). I guess a lot of people looked away from them just like I did, especially after the shit show of Black Friday orders (which, by the way, many are still waiting for delivery) and the ridiculous excuses they came with.
I'm just getting into building my 1st setup. I don't know if I really like their bases compared to the competition. But they have some amazing wheels, and their shifter & handbrake look to be nice for the price. I hope they can either fix their internal problems, or they get bought by a company like Thrustmaster. Either way, I plan to buy 2 maybe 3 of their wheels. And use them with SRM's Fantec USB converters on an Asetek base with Invicta QRs. I plan to get wheel from Ascher & Thrustmaster so a Fanatec base is out of the question. The Podium Porsche wheel with the Rally module looks amazing, and while expensive as hell the BMW M4 GT3 wheel's a thing of beauty.
Thanks for explaining the situation, well done. I am a Fanatec guy due to easy swap between a variety of wheels as I simulate different series. Would like them to make it for sure.
So I'm literally waiting on an order for the dd pro, which I still have not received a tracking number for and I ordered it last Sunday. Should I be worried? Should I cancel my order. What happens if they fail?

At a time, Fanatec had very little competition, this is no longer the case, personally, I don't think Fanatec will survive no matter what they do, they created their own problems (victims of their own success perhaps), now they are hurting as a company. Right now, trying to regain customer confidence would be difficult. Let a sinking ship sink instead of trying to save it by pumping hot air into it.
The only way out for Fanatec, for someone like me, who wants to upgrade my old Fanatec Porsche wheel and V2 pedals, is to go retail. I can go to a brick and mortar Shop and pick up a Simagic, Moza or Asetek and have somewhere to take it back if it breaks. Yet Fanatec still wants me to send them money over the internet and trust that they will send the stuff in a timely manner, and have to ship it back if it has issues. Fanatec will, probably, send it a timely manner, and it will, probably, be reliable, but, the fact is the other brands are just as good and I don't have to worry as much about the 'probably' lol.

They aren't over and your statement is only looking at things in one small circle. There is much more fanatec has dome then just sell a 5nm dd base. Fanatec deserves to be in sim racing.
Just remember you saying this when other brands have issues. Even moza is starting to have issues. Like shipping out bundles with prices they know are out of stock and don't tell anybody. Then you get something you can't use right away. Ir them taking 30+ days to ship and even some of there bases starting on fire. Things happen companies have issues and when you get influx of orders when being so mainstream it makes things even harder to keep up with an manage. Moza is starting to realize this and have the same issues. My point is none are perfect. Fanatec has had issues but they will always have more due to having more customers wether it's new sim racers or not it's still customers. Not saved at all , just a band-aid , as a person who sold my stock in the company my investment manager says they will need to sell to another company or they will be done , she also said they would do this but never works
It's evolution. We have new companies that have come along, and do it better than fanatec now. This happens all the time. Remember Yahoo? Google took its place. And someday down the road, Google will be replaced. It's just the way capitalism works.
I think he's delaying the inevitable at this stage. Which is a damn shame. I'm pretty new to simracing, but following motorsport for years there's no denying the impact Fanatec has had on the sim racing industry. But their name is burnt in the community now, trust is lost, and competitors have closed the gap. It happens with the advent of new technology, and direct drive is now really at its peak and the competition is fierce. On their name and trust, I think their downfall was selling direct. Simagic's method of using resellers is ideal, because the reseller sorts warranty, after sales care. And a delineation is critical because if bad blood occurs, most people I see blame the reseller, and just use another in the future. The simagic name isn't admonished, the reseller is. So it encourages better behaviour by resellers. Fanatec were all direct. So logistic issues and QC, and QA are all on them. They should have shared some of that risk with resellers and shared some of the load, because they clearly couldn't keep up. Resellers outsource so much extra crap that isn't worth your time to focus on the core of your business imo.
And I just use Simagic as an example, but Moza, Simucube, Asetek all sold via outlets. The other thing resellers do is give you visibility in an increasingly competitive market. I know fanatec is big, but for new entry ppl to sim racing going straight to a DD, I'd see ppl go Moza or Simagic and I'd ask why not fanatec and some responses were 'my microcentre/online retailer near me didn't have those' They didn't even really know what fanatec had to offer. I personally considered Fanatec to start because I knew them from GT3 and Supercars and other motorsport, but their website was convoluted, their products were and still remain confusing to me. They are getting bloated with DD, DD1, DD2, DD+, CSL and I couldn't really work out what was best as I was new, and their QR1 and 2 was also confusing (again, because I was new and there was info overload with fanatec stuff) Simagic offered 3 bases, Moza had R9, 12, 16, 21 and their numbering made sense to easily identify what is going on, Simucube had 3 bases and it was easy to follow what the go was.
All of you that want to see Fanatec go under..Why? So you can brag that you bought something else? I don't see Moza, or any other company for that matter, as the title sponsor for racing series around the world. Fanatec is the reason most of these other companies that offer all these great toys for your rig exist at all. Be careful what you wish for.
Fanatec was very successfull some time ago with a low degree of competition and high prices for good products. Today we have a lot of competition with good products for less money. So they have to decide serving a Smal niche with exzellent products or selling more and cheaper products for more people. Today Nobody Pays only for an image of a Company. And the competitors are offering also value for Money.
All a big lie. Nothing wrong with Fanatec’s logistics or customer service at all. Rumours of delivery issues have been conjured up in peoples mind and hyped up across the internet. I can a-test to less than 1 week delivery one month ago. Also, who would you trust to still have updated software and baked in console support in 5 years time? A go-fund-me startup based out of China or a solid Western European manufacturer. Its basically like Great Wall Motor company compared to BMW, Mercedes or Audi. Sure everyone wants to jump into the latest wizz bang electric vehicle but who’s going to be there to help later when the high tech batteries are fried ? One day people will learn to value those company’s with the vision and dedication that got us where we are today. What if everyone kept jumping ship every year to whoever was the newest on the scene? In one or two years from now Moza and SimMagic will also be old news and what happens to their support and dead hardware then 😢 ?
This is the worst possible news for Fanatec, this mad man is literally the reason why were in this mess, now new financers will be losing their injection of cash in no time with this clown back in control, regardless of how much of the company he owns.
I'm not a fanatec fan but i do not won't to see them leave the industry 😢

He really must understand how important regaining lost trust is at the moment or things will go downhill again.

Fix logistics, Carer to that low - high mid range market and build capital then release high end podium stuff later on with competitive features in that market.
Yh and ditch the seude leather for only 1 type of leather for example Porsche wheel for Xbox is only seude but pc and ps are in alcatera and leather and get ride of the Nascar and F1 license useless make those wheels bit cheaper
Not saved at all , just a band-aid , as a person who sold my stock in the company my investment manager says they will need to sell to another company or they will be done , she also said they would do this but never works
nope. She reads the situation wrongly. Get a new advisor.
It's evolution. We have new companies that have come along, and do it better than fanatec now. This happens all the time. Remember Yahoo? Google took its place. And someday down the road, Google will be replaced. It's just the way capitalism works.
I love their products but the company is in shambles and their costumer service is a joke
Really? Nobody has realized this
Everyone loves a smart ass. Do they?
Thank god I stayed with the G920 and never bought Fanatec if they are going under.
Logitech would be taking a massive risk. Their reputation would be at stake. ( I have a G Pro and a DD Pro).
C ya, Fanakek. Don't let the door hit you on the way out!
I know fanatec is big, but for new entry ppl to sim racing going straight to a DD, I'd see ppl go Moza or Simagic and I'd ask why not fanatec and some responses were 'my microcentre/online retailer near me didn't have those'
They didn't even really know what fanatec had to offer.
I personally considered Fanatec to start because I knew them from GT3 and Supercars and other motorsport, but their website was convoluted, their products were and still remain confusing to me.
They are getting bloated with DD, DD1, DD2, DD+, CSL and I couldn't really work out what was best as I was new, and their QR1 and 2 was also confusing (again, because I was new and there was info overload with fanatec stuff)
Simagic offered 3 bases, Moza had R9, 12, 16, 21 and their numbering made sense to easily identify what is going on, Simucube had 3 bases and it was easy to follow what the go was.
Customer service is still nonexistent. Regret going with their products
Sorry Thomas.......but business isn't a dream
They just renewed their sponsor contract with F1 which isn't cheap, so they still don't get it!!!
