  • Today we're having a first look at Myakka Head airfield in Forida in Microsoft Flight Simulator. It's a wonderfully modelled grass strip in a quiet part of the world - perfect to practice grass field circuits in a GA aeroplane.
You can buy the airfield from Orbx at the following URL:

Glad to see Bald Eagle Airfield in the sim! Now Cleetus can practice whenever he wants.

You know I was gonna take a stab at making this one myself, but glad someone else got there before me! Hope they keep it updated as Cleeter expands!

Cleetus is working with the power company to see if they can bury the power lines, and he's wanting to trim the tree tops as well.

As someone else wrote, this airport is well documented due to a youtuber that own it since few months. Some objects hou saw are probably purchaised in 3D library sites. They are not expensive and developers spare lot of time. The only downside is probably their heawyness.

That's a very cool scenery file. Reminds me of a small field near me. :)

Great review Jonathan! I've never seen just one object disappear mid flight but the large hangar sure did! I wonder if it popped back up later on. It's doors are proximity triggered so when you pull up to it or spawn in there, it auto opens!

at least we know a P51 can land there

You may need to use the keyboard shortcut not the switch in the cockpit for the hangar doors. I'll check it out and let you know. As for being flat, I live in that part of Florida, next county up, and yes, it is very flat but if you like this airport, then you should check out one to the south for Arcadia Mun(X06) or to the north, my RL home airport of Plant City Municipal(KPCM) they are both available on the MSFS Marketplace. Central Florida in the summer is notoriously rough for small GA planes. The heat and the humidity make for quite a bit of thermal convection and the winds across that flat ground make it feel like you are driving down a dirt road at times. In Jun-Sept the thunderstorms make just that wee bit more interesting, and you have to fly around the cells. Good times. Also, FAA regs stipulate that on takeoff and landing when throttle demand is highest, that the electric fuel pump be turned on.

I was there last night, the new owner has had a lot of unauthorised landings there while he was away doing other stuff. So I couldn't resist doing one of my own..........................................

Johnathon, I'm surprised that you never once mentioned the significance of this airfield, but many of the prior comments indicate that most of your viewers do. This airport was recently purchased by Cleetus McFarland, another popular RUclips channel. See the links to his recent videos regarding his recent purchase of the airfield. ruclips.net/video/VAtj5B_YGHs/видео.html ruclips.net/video/j47Vxb1uOGc/видео.html

Because that is not relevant. He is reviewing the airfield, not who owns it

I guess that I’d disagree. Why else would a company like Orbx be modeling, and Johnathon be reviewing an otherwise totally obscure small grass airfield in the middle of nowhere in Florida, except for the fact of who recently purchased it? Seems to me to be the “only” relevant reason why.

I reviewed it because Orbx invited me to :)

Thanks for the review. I recognized it the moment that I saw the “L” shaped lake adjacent to the runway.😇
