My favorite giant Mickey Mouse giant balloon? I would say it would be a tie between the 2nd and 3rd Mickeys. The 2nd Mickey Mouse Ballon was during my own childhood, it flew to the Mickey Mouse March, and he looked so huggable. I was really sad when he no longer appeared in the parade. For all those 18 years I was ACHING to see another Mickey balloon in Macy's Parade. Then, in the year 2000, I was supremely thrilled to see Mickey come back. And his comeback balloon appearance was the most perfect ever as a bandleader. After all, Bandleader Mickey is as famous as, say, Sorcerer Mickey. And I now have a stuffed toy replica of Bandleader Mickey, straight out of Macy's, in my vast plushie collection. PS: I also collect inflatable toys of Mickey Mouse, and they're precious jewels of mine.
Fun fact: mickey was supposed to appear in 1983 but during inflation his arm was accidentally ripped off and he later exploded, 22 years later in 2005 he was disposed of. R.I.P mickey 2, 1971-2005
Something tells me Disney and Macy's may bring back Band Leader Mickey in time for Mickey's 90th birthday next year. At least that would be a great surprise to see.
actually the mickey balloon didn't have the 1975 and 1981 incidents but 1978 mickey's ear was bent for some reason ,the 1982 one happened and in 1983... you won't believe what the workers done to mickey....... THEY EXPLODE HIM UP!!!!!!!! FOR kermit in 1985 a tree ripped his stomach ,in 1991 his head was ripped once again by a tree and in 2004 the winds pushed him to the crowd but the workers push him back
Not only did he have a love for puppets, but according to the Puppeteers of America, he was the first nationally known puppeteer in the United States--making him the unofficial father of American Puppetry.
Wow! Thanks for another great episode, Dan. I loved that Sailor Mick quite a bit. Always appreciate a good Miami Vice reference, too. That 1971 Mickey was soooooo 1971 with that shirt! I hope they one day have a Paul Rudish variant. That would be amazing! Maybe they'll do it to promote the upcoming ride at Epcot. By the way, I was thinking an episode about the rise of the churro at the parks could be really interesting. They seem to be such a big part of the park experience, and yet I don't remember them from when I went. Granted, that was thirty years ago at this point. Best. Hope your Thanksgiving was amazing.
Band Leader Mick is adorable! Definitely my favorite! Cruise Line Mickey is a very close favorite, but mostly because I've been on so many cruises, lol!
According to another video I saw, Disney did get to use two Macy's balloons for personal use. One was Buzz Lightyear, which was used during a D23 Expo. The other was Santa Goofy, which they had floating at Hollywood Studios for a while during the holidays. Other than that, this was an interesting video! I hope to see Mickey return in the parade next year for his 90th birthday. It would be cool if they made him wearing a birthday hat or had him blowing a party blower or something like that. Also, like one person suggested, I'd love to see a video about the history of the Christmas parade. I watch it every year on Christmas morning. :)
it will not reason: MACY'S CARES ABOUT TOOTHLESS FROM HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON NOT WITH MICKEY SINCE THEY DO THIS TO FELIX THE CAT IN 2016 WHEN HE GOT A REDESIGN OF THE 1930 FELIX AND WHY NOT MICKEY?
I'm watching the Rose Parade right now and was wondering if you could do a History of the Evolution of the Rose Parade. I'm very curious as to what some of these floats looked like at the start of the parade's history up to now. If not, maybe a video about the Evolution of Disney Rose Parade floats?
Nice vid. TPMvids made a similar video to this a day ago. But I wished I watched your video first because yours has more information and feels more life like. When I watch TPMvids it's like I'm watching a watchmojo video 😂. Great Job
Bandleader is also my favorite also note a mistake you made is that you sed Mickey Mouse clubhouse instead of Mickey Mouse club but still good job with the video
Hey, if you ever wanted to do a sequel to this video, here's an idea for you: The Craziest Moments in the Disney Parks Parades. You could include stuff like Alan Thicke's duet with the Ninja Turtles in the 1990 parade, all the times Herbie tried to mess with the mechanics, Bear from the Big Blue House doing the cha cha cha with the visibly nervous kids in the 2002 parade, Santa's elves taking on the Harlem Globetrotters in the 1997 parade (actually, most of the '97 parade could make that list), the antics of the Whose Line cast in the 2000 parade but not really a parade, and in light of his recent passing, a whole slue of clips of Regis doing ridiculous things. It would be easy to do too since Sam's Video Diary has posted all the parades online now, and no doubt you'd make the video insanely fun in the process.
Nicely done! Yea I agree, bandleader Mickey was probably the best balloon
+TPMvids Happy Thanksgiving T! Hopefully he will make a magical great return one day. Haha
TPMvids hihihi I big fan. Happy turkey day!!!!

Me too.
4:06 This reminds me of a Plague Doctor and a Gas Mask. My reaction was "Anybody got a match?"
You know what I like all of them actually!
A floating anchor? How ironic.
+Jackson Stewart Missed joke opportunity.
Jackson Stewart I laughed so hard when I read your comment.

9:00 Hey that's a cool double-whamy shot, branding-wise! The Mickey parade balloon almost looks like he is saluting Lion King Broadway show!
Something tells me Disney and Macy's may bring back Band Leader Mickey in time for Mickey's 90th birthday next year. At least that would be a great surprise to see.
"Vengeance is mine! You are all ants, and I am your destroyer!! Ha-ha!"
Pretty cool to know how popular Mickey already was in the 1930s
im going there in new york sity! and you are the best disney dan!
I can’t help but laugh when I see the balloons breaking and just flailing around everywhere

2:04 Mickey Balloon of 1934 , my fave🎀🎈no make up on. But all that march reminds me of the famous chinesse festival.
Disney Dan is the best because he tells about the Disney history. Do not mess with Dan!
I have a stuffed toy of the 2009 Sailor Mickey! I remember buying him as a Kohl’s one night, he still sits on my bed to this day :)
I'm Not First, I'm Not Last But when Disney Dan Posts, I click Fast!
Not only did he have a love for puppets, but according to the Puppeteers of America, he was the first nationally known puppeteer in the United States--making him the unofficial father of American Puppetry.

+The Iron Giant Thanks Iron Giant! He has great content but I felt my Video was different enough to release without being called a copy cat. Haha
Cruiseline Mickey is sooo cute.
Amazing video 😉😊👍
Luv this vid.
I kinda think the first one is lowkey cute. And in my opinion, the sailor Mickey was my favorite.
I'm kind of surprised they managed to do those parades during the 1930's, because of the great depression
You rock
I was born in the 1950s grew up watching Mickey Mouse Club love Bandleader Mickey!
You will not also believe this, but Cassie from DragonTales made a FREAKING APPEARANCE IN THE MACY'S THANKSGIVING DAY PARADE.
Yeah we don’t care, we only care about Mickey
the 1971 mickey is so cute!!
Bandleader is also my favorite also note a mistake you made is that you sed Mickey Mouse clubhouse instead of Mickey Mouse club but still good job with the video

Hey DisneyDan can you look at the evolution of the seven dwarf costumes in the theme parks in the next episode of DIStory

7:08 If you were wondering, it's called a mace! That might just be the drum major in me that wanted to point that out, but that's the name for it :)
Yeah! My bad! Hahaha. Thanks for fact checking me!
Disney Dan No biggie :) Just the band nerd in me coming out!
For the next costume character, do the big bad wolf please!
2:19 *JAZZ HANDS*
I hope you had a great Thanksgiving, Disney Dan!
A video I'd like to see is the evolution of Tigger in the Disney parks!
