They lost the rights to Oswald and scrapped the Rabbit idea for a bootleg mouse. Oswald didn't make them much money, it wasn't the huge break Walt was looking for.

I never went too Disneyland because I was born in the time zone of 2019 2010 2012 2017 2016 2020 and also my mom wrong take me because she lost a lot of money because she quit her job and y’all know Disneyland and disney world cost a lotta money
This is one of the rare times where I- actually like the big headed costumes for a character (s) better than their present design. For the seven dwarves to me it just somehow feels like it fits more...

Amazing episode! The Seven Dwarfs are indeed very special characters. The old costumes are actually pretty nice. Certainly easier to make kids smile than the early versions of Mickey, Minnie, and Donald. It’s also really wild to find out that Dopey became the most famous dwarf. Lucky guy! Great work on this video!
Some were creepy, some were crazy, but now it seems that the 7 dwarves are nothing but awesome. I love watching these videos. You do a great job! I learn all sorts of little things that I never would've thought to know! :)
Also, I think that the only reason they would need to articulate Dopey is to make him blink. I mean, it kind of makes sense that they leave him without articulation, but would they want him to blink? (Sorry if this came out weird and confusing.)

I think the Not So Scary Halloween party costumes are my favorite. They all have such a cute and cuddly appearance. Another great video! My sister and I were so excited to see this ^^

Even though it's finals week I will never miss my distory lesson
I would run away from the Seven Dwarfs when they showed up, when I was a small child. They seemed huge and terrifying, their hideous heads and uselessly flopping arms were truly the stuff of nightmares. The Mad Hatter and the Three Little Pigs were just as frightening.
I love this 'Evolution of' series... And this is, hands down, my favorite episode, thus far! Fantastic job, sir! :)

I remember snow white on ice in the mid-80s. I was 4 and my parents won a contest with a radio show to actually get married there during intermission of the show. it was so cool to see dopey come out with the rings and snow white held mom's bouquet. i'll always remember it.

Amazing Disney costume history
I'm loving this series on costumes, Dan! Watching the evolution of each character's look is just so darn fascinating! I'm thinking as we get closer to Wreck-it-Ralph 2 that you may want to do a rundown on the Princesses as they have a role in that film. Did Aurora go from the blue version of the dress over to pink in the parks at the same time she switched over in other media? (Man, can't believe Merryweather lost that fight!) I'd be curious to know as I grew up with Aurora in blue and today's kids always see in in pink. Thanks for all your hard work, Dan, and please give my thanks to the others on your team as well.
An observation: the clip at 5:54 I'm thinking elicits joy from some children and horrified tears from other children. I mean, that's an image of Dopey up there with some of those early Mickey outfits for creepy factor, which I'm thinking was another factor in retiring the big-head costumes. Man, this stuff is interesting! Gotta love that old RCA TV, too! Again, thanks, Dan.

The 1979 Dopey was horrifying. I can imagine being terrified of it as a kid. The only ones from that bit that looked halfway decent were Doc and Happy. Fr might have nightmares of the soulless Dopey tonight....

I really really love Bashful, I think he’s my favorite dwarf. But now that you mentioned his hat was pointed upwards during the beginning of his modern day look I WISH it had remained like that, to still distinguish him from the other dwarfs and gosh it just looked so cool and cute!!

OMG Snow White ‘s scary adventures!! She is my favorite princess and when I was little I was obsessed with that ride. I go to Disney World every year, but they took out the ride!😥😥❤️💛💙

I love this series so much! Thank you for all the time and energy you put into these. It's amazing to see the history of the place I love so much and call a "home away from home" the Seven Dwarfs mine ride is so probably my favorite of all of WDW. And I got to meet all 7 at the Halloween party Sept of last year. It was fantastic to see all of them together!

The 2015 meet and greet Happy looks like link (with the hero of the wild clothes) but with a lighter color hat and darker pants

This is my favorite of your distory videos! I think my favorite of the costumes is the Shanghai Stage Show ones- I think it’s a perfect aesthetic combination of Disney’s dwarves and the dwarves of various mythologies. Of course, the SpectoMagic costumes will always hold a special place in my heart too, as that was my first Disney parade and Sneezy shook my hand during it :)

My dad was one of the seven dwarves in the 80’s and 90’s consecutively for quite some years due to his stature fitting into those costumes since they were very particular. He has permanent damage from the head piece due to the weight of it on the shoulders for as long as it would be on at a time and for as long as he fulfilled that role. Chronic migraines,neck problems and back problems that have caused him a lot of turmoil. Pretty crazy.

Wait was the Mickey mouse animontronic from the Mickey musical attraction in the 70s repurposed for Philharmonic giftshop?! 😄😄 I was just in Disney last week and I was in that gift shop, the statue of Mickey in it looks exactly like the animontronic!!!
