@@TPMvids I have a lot of questions about The It's Tough to be a Bug attraction, do you think that you can do a video about the history of the attraction or at least answer my main question about it, What has happened to the attraction in the past? Please?!?🤔😀
I really like how you use these videos, not to make fun of the Disney Parks, but to entertain people, and also to teach them about the Parks and the attractions. They're both fun and interesting. If they ever want to do another tv documentary on the Disney Parks, they could seriously just stitch your videos together and have a winner.
Former Disney cast member here. I used to work at Animal Kingdom, at the Dinosaur attraction. Most of the malfunctions I experienced were relatively minor, usually some reduced motion, or b-show status, however a series of malfunctions a few months before I left were involving the charging carnotaurus near the end of the ride, where he chases after your rover. The sled mechanism that allows him to move is surprisingly complicated, and he blew a valve, venting hydraulic fluid which then vaporized, causing a (false) smoke alarm. Twice. We evacuated the building in the pouring rain, because whenever an alarm like that happens, even when we knew the cause, we have to be safe. A malfunction that I unfortunately was not there for but heard about afterward, was when the Styracosaurus's head fell off.
Omg that’s wild! That ride kinda creeps me out! Used to terrify me as a kid! The head falling off... STRAIGHT OUTTA five nights at Freddy’s! Saw what the ride looked like with the lights on & was so underwhelmed! Seemed to b a cheesy museum exhibit! Also everyone in these vids Amazing what some darkness & good special effects can do! Another thing everybody commented on while being evacuated was how sticky the floor was...?? So were u the uh..... dino doctor? Musta been sorta frustrating! How often did u have to repaint them? They’re over 2 decades old & seem well maintained (been awhile tho since I’ve been there!)
@@WileyCylas I was just an operations cast member, helping the guests and running the ride. I didn't do any maintenance, that is a separate team. A few points related to your comment: Yes, it looks very cheesy with the lights on. A major part of the atmosphere is the lighting and sound. Yes, the floor is sticky. We walked the track every morning and evening, and whenever we had to evacuate. The stickiness actually helps the vehicles maintain traction. The animatronics are maintained constantly, but there are lots of issues that crop up and need more extensive work. The dino skins are pretty easy to fix and paint, as it's some sort of silicon rubber that fits over the skeleton.
I love that Jack looks like he's mulling something over looking at the challice, like having a bad day so he doesn't feel like talking to the audience XD
Ariel singing with her eyes just closed kinda looks pretty…if that was my first time on the ride, I probably wouldn’t think that was a malfunction honestly.
As someone that sees Flik every day, I can confidently say that Flik’s eyes are literally never perfect. They’re always looking in different directions lmao
Man. Seeing Flick in that state just makes me really sad. I loved It’s Tough To Be A Bug, and was pretty sad when it left California Adventure. So seeing the Magic Kingdom version in this much disrepair is pretty sad, implying it’s probably on its last legs.
IIRC, it's at Animal Kingdom, under the Tree of Life. Imagine how many shows Flick has performed since that ride opened. I'm sure it has been repaired many times, but I wonder how well the overall rigging has held together?
I saw Flik a couple of months ago looking like that, and I was like, “Oh, no!” 😭, then I was like, “I hope someone caught this for TPMVids!” 😹 The sad thing though is that after the show, I talked to a cast member about it and he said that Flik had actually been broken for a while, but no one had thought he was worth fixing yet since it isn’t a very popular attraction 😿
These malfunction videos are always such a delight. The Ben Franklin/Mark Twain one cracked me up, as did Ariel, but Flik and his wonky eyes will haunt my nightmares 🤣
This is one series that will NEVER end. As the tech gets better, so do the malfunctions. And some of them are gold. I love watching these malfunctions and fails. Disney thinks they ruin the magic, and yet, they're magic on their own. They give us a little peak through that window that is the genius of the engineering department. Seeing these advanced animatronics go down is the literal jackpot for any tech junkie.
May I point out: 7:35 - something did NOT come loose from Redd's neck. Instead the swerving of her head/neck caused the choker & necklace to be yanked-pulled into the separation area between the head-neck and the opening for the neck. What is sticking out of neck opening is the scrunched choker. Probably has elastic within it as the choker now is actually around her neck/head.
3 things I want to say about some of the malfuctions: 1.- Flint got karma for Hopper´s antenna. 2.-Maybe the auctioneer liked Michael Jackson and it´s trying to dance 3.- I´m Daisytron 3000 and I command you to dance!!!!!
I actually remember one time, one of Fliks antennas falling as he was talking… and some kid grabbed it 😭 luckily the cast member took it away at the end loll

Wow this brought back a couple memories of show stopping animatronic breakdowns! We were watching American Adventure and during the Centennial sequence, poor Susan B Anthony couldn't raise her voice above a whisper. We could barely hear her and then she kinda just stopped moving and so did the show. Another time watching Country Bears, after Wendel and Henry share a number, Wendel just refused to leave the stage. He was still staring at all of us as we had to leave the show. Silly Wendel!

Same except the projectors stayed on, also happened 4 times in a row cause me and my friend got to go in the fast lane to make up for the malfunctions. Safe to say I felt like puking after the 4th time
2:15 for B Franklin M Twain - Not sure if this is what is going on but at work we have 6-axis robots and some of them are programmed to be able to utilize both "left-handed" and "right-handed" mode. Normally only 1 mode is used however for complex designs, you can override these measures and give the robot function to do both left and right sides. HOWEVER, there is a major caution in this. Your robot home position will favor either left or right side. If the robot crashes on the left side but it is in right hand mode, homing the robot will cause some of the axis to twist into each other as they no longer can see they are on their correct side. Again, not sure if they use servos in these or just actuating pistons but that's my theory on the funky poses lol
In that Smuggler's Run clip, it looks like Hondo was doing his own impression of Abraham Lincoln's malfunction from The Hall of Presidents at Magic Kingdom.
My first day at galaxy's edge I got the B mode for Rise for the Resistance AND the B more for the Smugglers Run Preshow. We came back a second time and everything was fine though. It was kind of nice actually for my family members who didn't know about the A-Modes, so the second time we rode the attractions it was even better. Best case scenario for a Disney fan
I really should've pulled out the camera for that trip. I had never ridden the Winnie the Pooh ride before and it kept starting and stopping, so the 2 times we got on it we got stuck in the "Hooray!!" scene at the end and I watched it reset and the music cue played twice. It wasn't much of an animatronic thing, it was just funny to watch the lights and doors go back to normal and then open up for no car
I recently went to Disney world and I found a lots of Easter eggs you have pointed out in your videos like snow whites squirrels on the Cinderella castle and The Epcot phone booths! I even told my family that I wouldn’t know about these Easter eggs or fun facts about these if it wasn’t for TPM 😁 we even headed to splash Mountain and remember the fact of that they were making the ride all about the Princess and the frog soon! I also saw the Huck Tom 🤍 Becky half painted fence and immediately remembered the fact of the extinct paint brushes🖌

5:30 I just remembered in 2018 we were in that show but I was pretty young. So I think I might of saw the malfunction and started freaking out. So we left early.
My trip in September 2021 to WDW, only ones that I can think of was the common problem of the bouncing Br'er Rabbit not working, which is more common than it actually working at this point, and I do remember a slight delay in Daisy's dance studio, but nothing wrong with the animatronic specifically, just us being delayed in the room before the scene actually went through. I also agree that Daisy is the best animatronic on Mickey and Minnie's runaway railway and yeah, I had no idea where the projection actually was for her eyes, so that's really interesting to see just how well it works on her vs the projected faces even on Mickey and Minnie in the ride.
I saw The American Adventure in Epcot back in April 2021! It was such a grand show! I loved the music and energy of the show! I remember enjoying Epcot! I have also been to Disneyland Paris! Both fun places! Truly enjoyed my experience at both!
I remember going to Its tough to be a bug when I was eight and loving the animatronics. I hope they give the attraction some more love along with the rest.
I love these videos because I have horrible anxiety and will sometimes panic when I'm in the parks because what if I'm on a ride and some disaster happens and I have to evacuate. Watching these animatronic and ride breakdown videos calms me down because it gives me some kind of idea how the in show exits work for each ride so I can be sort of prepared in case everything hits the fan and it helps me manage my anxiety levels a little bit.
This would have been circa early 1970's. It was my first trip to Disney World in FL. We were in the hall of Presidents and when Lincoln went to stand up he got stuck somewhere between the sitting and the standing positions and kept bouncing up and downa few inches, but his speech came through unphased. It was totally hilarious!

"And here, you can see Captain Jack Sparrow with a dislocated arm looking like he drank a little too much drink up me hardys, yo ho!" 😅🤣😂that part made me laugh! ❤ this video!
11:35 daisy turns into Amogus: top ten scariest moments in anime (number 5 will surprise you!)
These break down are sometimes really funny lol

I just remembered in 2018 we were in that show but I was pretty young.
1:40. Leave her alone. The song just to good for her. 🤣
1:37 They should give Ariel an eyepatch. Then she would be moved to Pirates of the Caribbean.
Good idea 💡 😅!

Olaf be like, "Oh no, it happened again" 🤣
Respect for how long setting up all those Dominos may have taken. This is my favorite series on the channel, and it never fails to amuse me!
Thank you for your support on the dominoes!
I saw The American Adventure in Epcot back in April 2021! It was such a grand show! I loved the music and energy of the show! I remember enjoying Epcot! I have also been to Disneyland Paris! Both fun places! Truly enjoyed my experience at both!
2:27 NO SERIOUSLY, HOW DOES THAT HAPPEN?! LMAO!
(edit: forgot a space)
I like your new intro! I find it very stratifying.
I remember going to Its tough to be a bug when I was eight and loving the animatronics. I hope they give the attraction some more love along with the rest.
also 13:28 i think how this happens is the motors have a tight grip on the shafts, which means the arm cannot fall
Best series on RUclips by far!!
The domino beginning was perfect👌😭
Absolutely perfect little notification to receive on a Sunday evening. Little smoke and a cuppa and we are set. 🤘
10:03 it was neither the blue milk or the green milk; it was the death sticks
I love these videos because I have horrible anxiety and will sometimes panic when I'm in the parks because what if I'm on a ride and some disaster happens and I have to evacuate. Watching these animatronic and ride breakdown videos calms me down because it gives me some kind of idea how the in show exits work for each ride so I can be sort of prepared in case everything hits the fan and it helps me manage my anxiety levels a little bit.
"The animatronics do get a bit quirky at night"
Yooo fnaf moment 🤯😬😢🤯😐🤯😛🤯🤯😔🤯🤯🤯😦😦😦😎😎😎🧑🧑🌚🌚🤯🤯🤯🤯
It kinda feels like there’s been a lot more animatronic/ride malfunctions since the pandemic started 😅
I love you vids keep up the hilarious malfunctions they really brighten up everyones day
Um American adventure really got it from vecna
One time when I was in country bear jamboree, I hear some cracking on the wallmounts
