Your work is very nicely done. Although, I would like to make a suggestion. Instead of basing out your shadows with black, try doing the shadows with "ultramarine blue". Then build the rest of your colours as usual. I believe that you'll accomplish much deeper & richer shadows this way. AND, you could still use the black at any later time in your illustration, if you want. This of course goes back to basic colour theory, blue + brown = (almost) black. It also gives you much more subtle control than just using black, directly. Please give it a try. I think you'll like the results.
I do agree, I heard an amazing oil painter say the darkest spots in a painting you should use pure black are the pupils and mouth. Just those two small areas.
Your painting is super,I l8ve it ,it is trueyou can use ultramarine blue with shadows, but everyone is different , for you as I cansee the black shadows workperfect, each to their own style I think. I love your technique, never try to use soft pastels in the pencil drawings, but is wonderful to see the results, for surewe never ended to learnnew techniques, wonderful tutorial, thank you so much, love your realistic portraits 😍❤💝
Loving how the pastels help the layering but I still get in a mess with using mediums that will smudge as I work over. Can see holding my pencils better, keeping my hands off the pages would help. Such a light touch! So subtle. We beginners find that so hard. Nice job. I will try to do better.
I really enjoy watching your video, I love that you experiment with different techniques it is very interesting. It's never boring and I love your accent 😊 thank you xx
Nice tutorial. if foam app is not available (which btw comes in different sizes) is it ok to use qtip or small makeup brushes (like when you do a charcoal drawing)?
GOOD DIA.EU'M FROM BRAZIL. I LOVE YOUR TUTORIALS. I'm a BEGINNER. I WONDER: WHICH PASTEL DO YOU USE. DRY OR OILY? HERE IN BRAZIL I DO NOT FIND THIS SPATULA . OTHER MATERIAL CAN BE USED. OR IF YOU KNOW THE LOINK TO BUY IN BRAZIL THANK YOU. THANK YOU
You're so silly. 20 minutes isn't long, and people watch hours of speed drawing/speed painting videos where there isn't even a useful art lesson to keep us interested. On top of that, your art is amazing and you are showing us moment by moment how you get it that way. It's the literal opposite of boring my friend. 🤣
lol!....i know....maybe i got used to speed drawings, Only recently that i realized, my audience prefer real time tutorials...and now im getting much more views and subscription
@@anette9291 can not say right now . I do almost(99.9%) everything different (customize/economize) to meet my NEEDS. Books and videos are just a jumping off point/place for me. Classroom equipment just do not meet my preferences. Surely my proclivities (the things that I do which people see )are spread by word of mouth.
It's a great probability that pastel graters and similar tools where taken from a invention that I took to a invention guy office. I had no intention of 'making' it. I wanted somebody to make it. I had my own intention of how it would actually be used . Since then perhaps manufacturer made competitive versions.😂
After watching a charcoal video excerpt I incorporated that look. Nothing the shortcomings , I then tried another approach. That in turn made me observe that NITRAM CHARCOAL works in a interesting way with 'tree' charcoal(vine & willow). Now I draw (as if using oil paint )with 3 charcoals. The result is unique
