- @BMDPortraits Shares tips on layering & blending skin tones in real-time with colored pencil. On this video i show how to draw realistic portrait with colored pencil. This is my complete drawing process and some helpful drawing tips. This drawing tutorial video is done in real time so you will have a chance to see how i build skin tone particularly the nose part. The colored pencil that i use on this realistic portrait drawing is my ultimate favorite, the Faber Castell Polychromos. This drawing tutorial video aims to reach colored pencil artists, young and old and beginners because it does not only show the actual drawing process in real time but also some important drawing tips that they can apply to their own journey in studying portraiture using colored pencil. The paper that i use here is Strathmore Bristol 400 series Smooth Surface. And my reference photo is Hollywood actor Chris Pratt from the upcoming Movie 'Jurassic World 3'. Hope you all like it!

You're very welcome!
Thank you for sharing this! I'm trying to take even more time with my current portrait. I think patience is the most important part of drawing realism 😊
So true!
Do you always used the green magenta violet and dark blue as basecolors with the normally skin tones? Or how do you select the colors the build up the skin?
This is wholesome! I'll watch it on repeat till I can grasp a few key concepts. Thank you.
These real time videos are awesome, keep up the good work :)

I like your videos. Very visualy informative. I don't like the font for the text on top. Hard to read with how quickly it goes by. Keep up the good work
Amazing Video!
I was wondering how to use more colours than beige and browns for skin tones to make it more realistic, and which colors to use ? ( like the blues and purples you used for the skin)
I use all kinds of Blues depending on the reference, also leaf greens or pale greens, they look great when blended with usual skin colors, just layer them together with other colors
Eye tutorial
Excellent video - thank you for sharing!
May I ask why do you go from dark to light?
Also, how do you know what colours to lay down?
Thanks! :)
I find it easier to establish dark shadows first and see the shapes and features....I take time to analyze and study my reference photo then pre pick the colors that i might need, but I do adjustments along the way
@@BMDPortraits You're very talented! I aspire to be like you! :D
I am too a left handed !
Im a new subscriber sir, can i ask, is it Prisma colored pencil did you use?
Its Polychromos...
I’ve been drawing on toned paper, is it hard to work on the smooth paper you used here? It seems like you can still layer
This is Strathmore Bristol Smooth, it has very fine textures
Me: wants to draw like this 😊
Also me: doesn’t have the patience to draw 36 million dots 😝
Tips nmn po sana sa shading techniques, kung pwede po ba 1 stroke shading or ano po, hehehehe🥺
Multi Layering pag color pencil, i bibuild u sya paunti unti
Lods next video yung 12pcs na fccp kung makakagawa ba siya ng art
noted po
What does the ultamarine do exactly?
I just saw bluish tone on some shadows
How
How
HOW?!
How can pink, green and whatever become light skin??
Nice movie, how do you choose the colors that you need? Normally you think that you use standard colors that you show in the beginning of this movie. What Is the reason you used green, violet, purple etc?
it all depends on my reference photo, the reason why i use colors that seem odd, is because i draw what i see and not what i know....i study my reference photo b4 i even start, to get as close 2 my reference as possible.
@@BMDPortraits are green, crimson ,ultramarine en magenta always the basecolors from a skin even i see a picture then i think that need to used only the skin colors.
Can you please generate a link of image
What brand of colored pencil you use sir?
Faber Castell Polychromos
As always napakaganda po ng artworks niyo! May I ask narin po kung ano pong magandang paper para sa pastel pencil na nasa average price po? Thank you po
Strathmore Mixed Media Toned Grey and Tan po at Canson Mi Tientes
@@BMDPortraits thank you po idol!
Dude i have a normal canson paper is it gonna work
Canson is a good brand too, if its at least 160 gsm thick, it will work
Anong pangalan po ng sharpener na gamit mo, at saan po ito nabibili? Balak ko kasing bumili ng prismacolor sharpener pero gusto ko pong makatipid.
Deli...metal na single hole....sa SM Store ko nabili
A.W Faber po ba yung model nung Crimson?
ung regular oil based lng
How in the world do u keep the pencil sharp !? Struggling
Im just using cheaper single hole metal sharpener, Maped or Faber Castell
@@BMDPortraits thank you so much for answering. So frustrating to have them crumble right in front of me constantly.
Sir BMD, ano po magandang color pencil gamitin?
kung artist quality...prismacolor at polychromos
@@BMDPortraits Thank you very much sir!
Anung paper na bristol po yan master
Strathmore 400 series smooth surface po
Warm Grey V po ba yun? I-VI kasi yung Warm Grey
yes V sya
what tha name of color
Polychromos
Pensil
How do we know to use specific colour on specific area
I closely study my reference photo, and do swatches, i layer from dark to light, i just layer whatever i see, if i see shades of blue or green, i go for it
@@BMDPortraits brother i am a good graphite and charcoal artist but after seeing your artwork i really want to learn colour pencils drawing too but i dont have any ideas how to begin
