  • The most useful technique I've used to create realistic skin texture and highlights in this portrait so far. It speeds up the skin drawing process much more compared to drawing the texture freehand and trying to achieve the same lighting. Learn how to draw this portrait with me, I'll be continuing to release more drawing tips and techniques as this portrait progresses.

    Great tip! Thank you. Could you please briefly explain the difference in effect b/w water-based, oil-based and wax-based coloured pencils?

      Oil-based pencils are generally harder than wax-based pencils. They hold a point longer and are excellent for drawing details. They're not as likely to break while you're drawing or if you drop them. Oil-based pencils don't produce wax bloom because they contain less wax. - Oil-based colored pencils: These pencils use an oil binder to hold the pigments together. The oil binder creates a smooth and rich color application. - Water-based colored pencils: These pencils use water-soluble binders, allowing the pigments to be dissolved and spread using water.

      She didn't really, just said she used high vellum paper. Not the brand. There are many brands, some better than others. GSM 200 and higher too.

    What if all I have is prismacolor? Would I still need to get an oil based colored pencil after the four to five layers? Do you think it would still work if all I had was prismacolors?

    • @campyarts
      @campyarts  2 года назад +2

      Prismacolors are great on their own! You don't need an oil based pencil after 4/5 layers. You can layer prismacolors on top of prismacolors and scratch off the top layers just as well.
