Hi Steph, Pawpaw was detecting a fruit flavor like Buddy did at first, probably because they both eat less sugar and their taste buds are stronger. You could add lemon zest for lemon cookies or cinnamon for snickerdoodles or chocolate for a chocolate cookie. Great basic recipe!

Thats awesome Steph and so much work and heart put in to them. That process of shucking, splitting and boiling down the sorgum plus the old timey recipe is so neat. You should be very proud. Stephanie my mom had a drop cookie recipe that used sour milk. We would put alittle vinegar in milk to make it sour. Funny so many mentioned they were glad it wasn’t pickles. Lol. A dollop of preserves in the middle of it might be good. Lester and Jami cracked me up licking the cookie.

I love homemade foods. My husband brome home some sweet pickled beets a few days ago made by Amish. Let me tell ya, d- licious. They have cinnamon and clove oil in them, so yummy. Jami and Lester’s licking them was hilarious. The sound effects were great 😂😂❤❤

I have my grandma hand written recipes some are wrote in German. She was born in the 1800 and wrote down her mom's recipes when she go married. I have tried maybe two of them when my uncle made them for us. Yes things are not so sweet. Very simple ingredients. During her time money was tight she even raised her her family of 5 boy during the dust bowl in Colorado. Fun to think back at what all she told us

I like simple cookies. My grandfather used to make sorghum molasses. I always thought they were the same thing. (Sorghum / Molasses) I was too little to really remember how it was made. I also love pickled eggs, and many other pickled things. I am going to be making some pickled cabbage and pickled beets soon. Guess it is the southern part of my soul.
