Absolutely heartbreaking, that's why I never put my parents in one of those places. I'm 61 years old and we need to start thinking about things like this. Our parents gave us life and took care of US and I have always said that when IT comes to them not being able to take care of themselves it's our time to take care of them. Without them we would not be here. GOD bless you Patty, and I'm so sorry for the way you and others have been treated in your time of need. To ms Patty, please report it to your the state department. that the food safety and quality. also to Health department in your state. they will come investigate the food handling, quality etc. because it came be considered malnutrition. i work in assisting living Overnight . the state department showed up at 5am til 6pm to do full check on the food safety. if ms patty sees this please reach out. i love to try to Help. Chocolate comes from cacao beans not coffee beans and yes you should scramble the eggs first then your not working the batter too much. Coffee brings out a richer chocolate flavor. Also, the chips will not melt into the batter. You will see them in the same shape they went into the batter as. Adding all the extra is amazingly tasty. Not sure why you didn’t use the hand mixer which you could have.
@@secundajenkins6637 using the egg shell works best, you should never use your finger to pull egg shells out of a bowl of ingredients because you can cross contaminate.

Dan I worked in a nursing home for 25 years, that was not the case in the Masonic Home of New Jersey. We use to eat the same food that the residents did, and it was very good food. It is sad that there are nursing homes that are not up to standards. That is why they have state inspections. I was just lucky to have worked in a 5 star facility. I am so sorry Patty, you need to tell the state inspectors your concerns.

That’s sad about Patty. I worked as an aide in a nursing home years ago for 2 months. I was hoping things had changed for the residents of nursing homes but it sounds like they haven’t. I know there are workers in these that love their job and are great. Those signs are wonderful. God bless.

Patty's story is just one of thousands of elderly abuse stories, and I think how we treat the elderly in this country is horrible. I'm almost 63 and disabled. My blessing is I have family, my home is paid for, and when the time comes, I already have a bedroom for someone to live here and help me. I am a rare exception, not the rule. My heart says our children should go to school in amazing temples of learning and always be safe. Our elderly and veterans should be treated the very best in every way. It's just a pipe dream. We are only the greatest nation in the world. Unfortunately we are also very narcissistic. 😢

I had to giggle when Baker Dan wanted to use milk instead of water. I do that when I use box brownies too. You also only need to mix the brownie mix about 50 times. It’s best not to overmix brownies.
Ms Patty's situation just breaks my heart.. but I'm not surprised after working in a nursing home years ago. Before Dan revealed which was which, I went with left was homemade and right was box mix. I only knew from experience with both. Look delicious either way! Just FYI Dan, Brownie batter is easier to mix with a whisk than a spatula because of the eggs.
I think since the box mix will be quick you should make that 2nd - that way it doesn’t sit in the pan so long ( looses volume) ( like the cakes did) I don’t think anyone will be able to tell the difference ❤ Dan put double pecans in his box mix 😮
I a maaannnnnn. Yes you are Dan your the man. I think both brownies looked great. I love homemade brownies. Since I don't bake much anymore. I use boxed now. I worked as a cook in a nursing home foe 15 years and believe me those clients that lived there never had undrained noodles. This makes me so sad about that lady. One thing these people look forward to is a good meal. We had a gorgeous dining room for the people who could get up or helped to the dining room. They had crystal glasses for there water and small glasses for milk or juice and ceramic plates for there food. It was a very nice and clean home for them all. The cooks even went and gave them there choice off the menu for the day. I enjoy your baking and cooking with Dan and Lou. You are both doing great. I love you both and have a great day.

Oh Danny Boy, Oh Danny Boy, it breaks my heart, Little LuLu lost her friend 🐠😢 A little trick my Mama taught me about eggs, if you get a piece of the eggshell in your bowl or pan, use the same eggshell, and you will get it out right away. It really works.❤ The term for Cocoa Beans and Coffee Beans is just terminology that is used. Both actually come from seeds. There's no comparison. Homemade is always better, box is okay when you're in a hurry, however as you can see it's only a few minutes at that.

I love dark rich chocolate. The added coffee enhances the chocolate flavor. When I make a keto treat, I make dark chocolate mug cake with no sugar chips melted on top

You should have shifted your brownie mix. It makes it a lot fluffier and almost cake like. It’s amazing. You wouldn’t think it makes that much of a difference but it does

There's no "contest" in brownies or chocolate cakes. If you add coffee to any chocolate recipe, it will bring out the flavor. FYI, there are Hershey Expresso Chocolate chips that are absolutely delicious. I can't keep them in my house. Even my 3 year old granddaughter LOVES them!
Im sorry Patty. I'm a nurse in Scottsdale AZ, & have worked at 4 different nursing homes. Every single one had OUTSTANDING food. Chef's quality in fact. Complain to your local newspaper. Maybe they'll get better cooks!! Since Covid its hard to get good help

I'm so sorry for Patty, I'm 82 and am blessed to still live in my home. My husband died 21years ago, but i have family that lives close so i have help if i ever need it. I have 3 daughters and we spend a lot of time together. I have 7 grandkids, and I8 great grandkids, so you can see I'm not lonely. I said all this to show i know I'm very blessed and i know it. It makes me sad to see some people in the nursing home that never have family come and see them, they need to realize they will be old one day and what goes around comes around

When using a box mix for brownies or cake, add a teaspoon of vanilla to the mixes. To the brownies or chocolate cakes, add a spoonful of cinnamon. Really enhances the flavor and give a more homemade taste.
I make brownies weekly 😅.6 grandbabies and they come to grammy's for all the snacks so of course they get them along with many other baked surprises😂😂 Boy they can eat..14,12,10,6,6,4,and one on they way almost 7
If you get an egg shell in the bowl, use part of the egg shell to get out the piece in the bowl. Not sure why but it is a lot easier. When I would bake my kids always said they wanted to “help do dishes “. Licking the beaters and bowl was their version of doing the dishes.
The box tells us it will be lumpy Dan, its ok brownies are easy. I taught my kids how to cook and bake, my son who has 4 boys is a good cook expecially on the grill, my other son still lives at home bakes good just like his mama. My daughter can do it all too. I started baking at the age of 8 my family loved it. I love to bake and hubby likes to cook. But, I can cook too but when I do he ends up and takes over...👀👀😅 I think homemade or box its all good....❤😊

I have 3 daughters and we spend a lot of time together. I have 7 grandkids, and I8 great grandkids, so you can see I'm not lonely. I said all this to show i know I'm very blessed and i know it. It makes me sad to see some people in the nursing home that never have family come and see them, they need to realize they will be old one day and what goes around comes around

Skilled Facilities can be horrible! I worked in a nursing home for 15 years. It's sad what we've allowed to come of these facilities.

When using a box mix for brownies or cake, add a teaspoon of vanilla to the mixes. To the brownies or chocolate cakes, add a spoonful of cinnamon. Really enhances the flavor and give a more homemade taste.

If you get an egg shell in the bowl, use part of the egg shell to get out the piece in the bowl. Not sure why but it is a lot easier.
When I would bake my kids always said they wanted to “help do dishes “. Licking the beaters and bowl was their version of doing the dishes.

The box tells us it will be lumpy Dan, its ok brownies are easy. I taught my kids how to cook and bake, my son who has 4 boys is a good cook expecially on the grill, my other son still lives at home bakes good just like his mama. My daughter can do it all too. I started baking at the age of 8 my family loved it. I love to bake and hubby likes to cook. But, I can cook too but when I do he ends up and takes over...👀👀😅 I think homemade or box its all good....❤😊

When you make dishes like this.. maybe use different color casserole dish so it won't get mixed up that way family can guess the color of casserole so guessing won't get messed up
