    I plan on getting a tattoo of rain falling on broken up ground to represent how the Lord broke Israel and tore them apart before sending the rain. I will have the reference Hosea 6:1-3 beneath it. This is because the Lord has recently broke me, and I believe will send the rain later on. It is not only an encouragement to me, but it can start conversations with nonbelievers who see it.

    Even though we are not under the law. The same law that said “do not covet”, also says “do not get tattoos” .Coveting is still a sin, why not tattooing? Its for our own protection. The law only informed us of sin, like Paul said. By saying we have no law, then there is no more sin and how will God judge the world?

    • @jrobbertse
      @jrobbertse 6 лет назад +2

      DOULOS it doesn’t matter who He waa speaking to. It’s what He said. Its not just that verse. I cannot fathom how someone would be so critical of something that God said (his law). Its like people will grab at any verse to eat bacon or work on sabbath. The whole law is set in place for our protection. It is the Rock that Jesus talked about building your life on.
      Jesus was the Word and the Word became flesh. Jesus said moses wrote about Him. So believing in Jesus, means also to believe in His word, but you are rejecting His word , by rejecting His instruction. Again, not your fault. You were taught that way. I also only came to see this info after in depth study. You’re judging me for doing what God and Jesus said... you are teaching people to break the law. Be weary.
      “Whoever therefore breaks one of the least of these commandments, and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever does and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.”

      DOULOS in revelation it talks about the church keeping the commandments of God. Jesus said, if you love me You will keep My commandments. Jesus doesn’t disagree with God and Jesus was there when the law was given. Go look at every sin mentioned in the new testament. It comes from the law. Even uncleanness is listed... uncleanness is never redefined in the new testament. Plus, Jesus said there will be a Sabbath in the last days.

  • @CyberSec_Vin
    @CyberSec_Vin 3 года назад +9

    Here’s the facts. If you have looked or heard of someone with a tattoo and have judged them then you already committed a sin, only God will judge. There are priests, pastors who even have tattoos.
    In the Book of Leviticus chapter 19 don’t mark your body, don’t cut up your body.
    This is talking about a certain marking on ones body that gives ones self an identity typically
    in terms of tribal identity or like for the dead or something in that sense. Jews were instructed not to do that, our identity is the people in God.
    If your tattoos mean that you are concentrating yourself to something other then God then yes it is a sin. If they are for the dead, then yes it is a sin and don’t do that. If they don’t mean that, they are fine to get.
    Also if you think that way back when people were getting tattoos when the Bible was written then you are wrongly mistaken, but even so there are different interpretations to not marking your bodies or piercing your flesh cause technically Overeating and getting stretch marks on your body from fat would be pertaining to the same thing.
    If you think for one second that our eternal loving father is going to keep you away from him because of ink in your skin then you are also wrongly mistaken, Jesus died on the cross for us, for our salvation. Rev 5:5 Jesus overcame sin and gained authority of man to loosen the 7 seals. A tattoo will NEVER step in the way of that. What you do on this Earth are blessings of God, what you do in your body should be for the Glory of God, truth is we all fall short of that, and yes if we truly repent and ask for God he will come into our lives and help us and guide us, he does not pressure you but he encourages you. My recommendation for a tattoo is something that can give God honor if you will, or something that can lead someone else closer to God or even yourself but always pray and talk to God for answers, he’s the one in power, some of Gods followers are very judgmental and hypocritical because they sin in many other ways as well.
    God loves you, there is not 1 sin he can’t forgive, the Lords sacrifice was too great for us that nothing shall even come near it, nothing can break it, nothing.
    Personally I don’t believe getting a tattoo is a sin in the slightest. My interpretation of it is your body was given to you by God as a blessing just like food that we over eat with, sugars, starches, fats that we like to enjoy ourselves with, our skin overtime ages and gets wrinkly and old, there’s diseases, conditions that also effect the outside of our body’s appearance as well.
    Lastly, The Bible is very Holy, it is Gods love letter to us. If we want to get to know God we should read his words for in them we have strength and Gods words will never wither away. That being said there are many examples in the Bible of how God used other peoples stories to prove points and set the boundary for all mankind and show that if one suffered through something we all can. Also to Glorify himself and set the example of the right ways to live and to be just like Jesus would want us to be. Stubbornness, jealousy, judgement, no faith or a lack of faith, etc, and then living examples in the Bible of how God restored his people and had drawn them away from these sins. There is not one thing in the Bible that talks about someone getting ink in their skin that’s permanent. The Bible does not talk about it in this way.
    I don’t think it is a sin, I am getting my second tattoo soon, the first was of the Lion of Judah from the Bible.
    Don’t pass judgement, what is going to save you is your relationship with God, and your faith in him and his works. If you turn from sin is a test of love, we are put through many trials but when we fail, God doesn’t yell at us, he encourages us to get back up, brushes us off, and with great patience waits for us to do it right the next time. No tattoo is going to get in the way of that we have sinned many times in our lives, why are people comparing what they think is 1 sin to the many they have committed. God hates hypocrisy.

    Looking forward to the follow-up on, 6 reasons not to get tattoos.
    I wonder if one will be, because tattooing permanently pollutes the body, even their removal scars the body.
    Also, is it true that God alone reserves the right to mark or scar a persons body. Is there anything in his Word where he condones the permanent marking of the body?
    There is a world of difference between temporary lipstick and permanent tattoo -- not even in the same category.
    Did Jesus get tattoos? If he keep the law perfectly, and did not sin, clearly he did not get a tatoo. Are we to imitate Christ? I think so!

    To be clear. There are law's and there are commands. GOD said keep and obey my commandments. He did NOT say keep and obey my law's. GOD wrote the ten commandments!! Man wrote and added the law's. Thou shalt not covet is NOT a law it IS A COMMAND! As far as being released from the law. JESUS said i have not come to do away with the law i have come to fulfill! It. Thus releasing us from the OLD law's and covenant. The commandments however still and ALWAYS will stand!! THE TEN COMMANDMENTS AND THE NEW COVENANT ARE WHAT WE ARE TO ADHERE TO!! At least that's what SO MANY preach and teach in church these day's and have from my experience through life thus far! All we can do is keep the TEN COMMANDMENTS and live as best we can to reflect JESUS CHRIST OUR LORD AND SAVIOR!!

I'm not really sure that there's much of a difference between command and law besides word choice. The law back then was just part of the whole narrative story in the Bible. I do follow your reasoning though. Cheers brother

If you do not understand the applications talked about in Leviticus 19 then just don't do it don't get a tattoo until you do understand because there is a right and a wrong. Spend some time reading 1st Corinthians 10:23 and how the principles God applied to his people in Leviticus And how they still apply in in a sense today .

      God is my fortress VerHalen If we continue reading 1Cor 10 we clearly see that there are gray areas as in different ways we should apply our wisdom under different circumstances. Also in 1Cor 9 Paul talks about being all things to all people so that he may win souls. That indicates that christian liberty is to advance the gospel. We Christians in Christ are set free from the law yet for the sake of those who are weak in conscious and for the sake of witness we forsake our freedoms to do certain things.

    All the commentaries that are against tattoos are just dramas or exagerations like : I know somebody who tattoos himself and he also sins with this and sins with that. Well i know people from the church that dress in modesty and still sin in various ways; that doesn't mean that beeing modest is a bad thing; just because other people that are modest are also doing some bad things in the same time. Exactly the same with tattoos; if somebody that is tattooed does some bad things in the same time, that doesnt mean that the tattoos are bad. We establish if a thing is good or bad by the Scripture, not by our legalist narrowed minds or other people experience. So if u want to give ur opinnion about tattoos beeing bad or good, use the scripture and interpret it in context; otherwise, it s just ur opinnion on the subject, not god's word.
    People are using false arguments like: ,,your body is a temple, dont mark it up.'' Well, the context there is about fornication, not about tattoos. U cant just take one verse out of context. The same people that are against tattos, most of them are as cam.etc commented bellow : ,,overeating, obesity, passively sitting in front of screens for entertainment, lack of exercise. If our bodies are temples, why is it sin to adorn mine and yet not a sin to abuse yours by neglecting it?'' Think about it

    Isolating Leviticus 19:27 with verse 19:28 is not the context of Leviticus 19! All of Leviticus 19 and the whole Bible is the context! The Ten Commandments are contained in Leviticus 19 and people’s vain attempt to remove verse 28 from the Word of God logically removes the Ten Commandments! Tattoos are graven images and sinful graffiti on the temple of the Holy Spirit!
    “Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You ARE NOT YOUR OWN; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies!”
    1 Corinthians 6:19-20
    In context Leviticus 19 says in part:
    “The Lord said to Moses, 2 Speak to the entire assembly of Israel and say to them: BE HOLY BECAUSE I, THE LORD YOUR GOD, AM HOLY! 3 Each of you must respect your mother and father, and you must observe my Sabbaths. 4 Do not turn to idols or make metal gods for yourselves. 11 Do not steal. Do not lie. 12 Do not swear falsely by my name and so profane the name of your God. 16 Do not go about spreading slander among your people! 20 If a man sleeps with a female slave who is promised to another man but who has not been ransomed or given her freedom, there must be due punishment! 28 Do not PUT TATTOO MARKS ON YOURSELVES. I am the Lord!” Leviticus 19
    “For we maintain that a person is justified by faith apart from the works of the law. Or is God the God of Jews only? Is he not the God of Gentiles too? Yes, of GENTILES too, since there is only one God, who will justify the circumcised by faith and the uncircumcised through that same faith. Do we, then, nullify the law by this faith? NOT AT ALL! Rather, WE UPHOLD THE LAW!” Romans 3:28-31
    The Apostle Peter quotes Leviticus 19 so Leviticus 19 still applies:
    “But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.!”
    1 Peter 1:15
    “Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God-this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is-his good, pleasing and perfect will!”
    Romans 12:1-2
    “Everyone who sins breaks the law; in fact, sin is lawlessness!”
    1 John 3:4
    It is sinful stewardship of God’s money for a Christian to fund the demonic tattoo industry which spreads anti-Christian art! It is a sin for a Christian, who God calls to be set apart from the world, to get any kind of tattoo!
    See 2 Timothy 4:3!

    Here’s a seventh reason, If we are to walk in the Spirit in newness of life and the scripture says that those who are led by the Spirit are children of God, I ask you, Did the Holy Spirit lead you to put tattoos on your body? This is a serious question! Here is an eighth reason, when God made man He said “It is very good!” So you oh man want to improve the way the Eternal God made you! You want to show contempt for Gods handiwork? By putting graffiti on your body! Gods Spirit would never tell you to do that! It’s understandable an unbeliever having tattoos. That’s what sinners do, they sin! But to be a so called believer and then put tattoos on your body, how can you say you love God if you show contempt for His handiwork? You lack an understanding of who God is!

      DOULOS its also important to note that the greek word koinos there is not the same one used to describe unclean foods listed in Leviticus. Akathartos is used when referring to those unclean. Otherwise Paul would have contradicted Jesus.

    • @jrobbertse
      @jrobbertse 6 лет назад

      DOULOS i know that verse off by heart right now. The point is, there are explanations for everything as you have seen so far. Even when Jesus talked about the end times, He said pray that your flight may not be in winter or on the sabbath, so He expected there to be a sabbath. Looking at this verse in the light of all the others, it could have been that he was saying they dont need to do it like the jews. I dont know exactly. All im saying is, Jesus expected a sabbath. The food there is also not mentioned to be clean or unclean, but merely food.
      I believe that Jesus’ words stand and anything interpreted otherwise needs to be re-interpreted. I follow Jesus, not what i think Paul meant.

    • @jrobbertse
      @jrobbertse 6 лет назад

      DOULOS go read through that whole section to where that word is used... its a typical word for common, its even used when peter mentions our common faith. Its even used when Jesus talks about the unclean hands. When peter received the vision, this is the word for common, when he said common or unclean. Nowhere is it actually used to describe levitically unclean animals. The definition in strongs only added that for some unknown reason. They had no scriptural reason to do that.

    • @jrobbertse
      @jrobbertse 6 лет назад

      DOULOS plainly just reading the english and basing your salvation on it is not good. Im not saying its your fault, but mainly the people that tought us these things. Its waaaay more complicated than that. When i saw the first error in english translation i started going through them one by one, so i know all these verses. Ive studies them all, they are exactly what kept me stuck. I beg you to reconsider and just dig a bit deeper. The answers are there.

    JOYCE MEYER INTENTIONALLY MISREPRESENTS THE BIBLE AND IS A FALSE TEACHER. HERE IS THE TRUTH:
    The reason for interpreting Isaiah 44:5 as symbolic rather than literal is primarily due to the broader context of the passage and the nature of prophetic language. In this passage, the emphasis is on the spiritual commitment of individuals to the Lord. The act of "writing on their hand, 'The Lord's'" is a metaphorical expression of this commitment. It's unlikely that it refers to actual tattooing or inscribing the name of the Lord on one's hand in a literal sense.
    Prophetic and poetic language often employs symbolism and metaphors to convey deeper spiritual truths and concepts. Additionally, there is no specific historical or archaeological evidence to suggest that Israelites practiced literal tattooing of the name of the Lord on their hands.
    While the exact interpretation may vary among scholars and theologians, the prevailing understanding is that Isaiah 44:5 is a symbolic expression of devotion rather than a literal practice of inscribing the name of the Lord on one's hand.

      "10 For all who rely on works of the law are under a curse; for it is written, “Cursed be everyone who does not abide by all things written in the Book of the Law, and do them.” 11 Now it is evident that no one is justified before God by the law, for “The righteous shall live by faith.”[d] 12 But the law is not of faith, rather “The one who does them shall live by them.” Gal 3: 10-12 Sp if you think by keeping the 10 commandments you are righteous you are clearly wrong. The commands of God are good but they are NOT how you are made righteous.

      @@ShepherdMinistry Did you know that when you receive a polio vaccine, your body instantly fights to remove it yet in the long run it prevents you from contracting polio? When you scratch an itch, it activates pain receptors which release endorphins (bodily pain is negative and should be avoided, does that mean it's sinful to scratch an itch?) The "your body fights to remove it at first" is not a rational argument for why it's inherently sinful. I don't care for tattoos at all and personally think they're sort of corny, but I can understand why some people love, appreciate and get them and there is simply no biblical or logical basis for it being a sin (as long as the tattoo itself is not displaying anything vulgar or blasphemous). There are far too many people (particularly western Christians) who believe that their personal distaste for something automatically equals it being sinful before God Himself, and they'll use scripture in the most vague and out of context way to try to prove it (such as Leviticus). If you don't like tattoos, you don't have to get them. Everyone has different personalities and interests, and believe it or not that's perfectly okay even within the body of Christ. We don't all have to be identical clones of each other.

      @@ShepherdMinistry I did respond using two analogies. I just posted a substantial comment and your response is almost as if you didn't even read it. Do you know how many toxins *you* put in your body every day? My friend, everything you eat has toxins in it. The air you're breathing, if you're living in the 21st century, has toxins in it. Why are you intentionally putting those toxins in your body? Would it be ridiculous for me to tell you you're sinning by doing so? Most likely. On a another note, having a tattoo does nothing to negatively impact your health, either in the short term or in the long run. The worst that can happen is it may become infected and scabby for a week before it heals up. The same thing could happen if you cut your hand while moving lumber. Is moving lumber a sin now, because you might get bacteria or toxins in your body? It's clear, with all due respect sir that you just have a personal distaste for tattoos, and you have a problem with the idea that just because you don't like something, doesn't mean God exactly feels the same way. I'm sorry, but you're unfounded on this. You can continue to believe that tattoos are a sin if that makes you feel better than those who have tattoos, or whatever your reasoning is. That's your business. But I'll let you know that people with your attitude do more to annoy people than you do to be exemplary for Christ.
