- Some people have asked me to upload the whole tape, so here it is! This video was filmed for CityTV production. They used some of the shots here for the TV broadcast and the DVD release. I'm sure you will be able to spot them. This version includes alot of audience shots and never recorded the whole songs.

It's so great to be a Stevie Ray Vaughan fan because when video of him that's never before been available for public view comes out it's like being a child on Christmas morning all over again. R.I.P. Stevie.

Stevie was a force of nature. This show was incredible and thank goodness it was recorded for posterity. Truly one of the greatest blues guitarists ever.
That crowd is so wonderfull, they are stars by themselves from now on! The best concert i have ever seen! Miss him...
You'll never see audiences this attentive ever again because of cell phones. And imagine the feeling for the artist knowing these people are watching you non-stop the whole time at every note and every movement you make. Must have made them feel pretty special!

@@CHAUNCEY.GARDNER. LOL 😂! I haven’t watched the entire video, so IDK if you’re referring to the audience, SRV, OR BOTH smoking 🚬 during the concert. I have seen HIM doing it before, and Clapton too in his earlier years - and when it was permitted everywhere! (I’m going on 70 yrs old now.)
Still one of the best and never forgotten.

I’m SRV “ devoto fan” ! I don’t know what I should pay to be there during that gig .. I’ve seen firstly on VHS an later on DVD 📀…. Stevie changed my life in anyway .. I’m raised up making myself another man since I ‘m following him ..in his Whole message of Love ❤️ for the Blues ( Texas Blues) , The Guitar 🎸, The Love you practicing for the people , your life ! Thanks Stevie we miss you ! But your spirit is living on ❤

man those people really didnt know what kind of show they were walking into. srv el mocambo is my all time favorite live performance and i really dont think it can ever be topped. pure magic that night
For the record, this video is a REACT video filmed in loco, peoples. realize it and thank the information technology permitting us to witness it. what an effin alien srv looked like descending upon the el mocambo that night. the people went nuts. gotta single out the enebriated patron wearing glasses - he seemed to have had the most fun that evening - srv included! :D thanks for posting this!

Unexpected & rare chance to see bits of this iconic performance from another perspective. Didn't realize he was performing in such a tight space & within touching distance of the crowd. Love the long, full-body shots of Stevie, getting to see Tommy up close & personal, and reactions from the audience. Lucky people to be part of this iconic show! Thanks for sharing this, such a treat to find "new" footage of Stevie.

When I first got this on VHS I absolutely seeing that dude lost in the music,someone please find out who it was & if he,s still with us,he should give an interview,would love to hear what he has to say about that night,I bet it wasn't the last time he saw SRV & double trouble ❤️❤️❤️

Thanks for uploading this. The El Mocambo DVD was well edited, but this gives you more angles of the crowd reactions and the longer side view which really shows how small the stage was and Stevie's footwork on the pedals.

I've the the el mocambo version but not this! It was like being in the crowd, I'm blown away. I have the more popular version memorized I've seen it so many times so cool to see this version. What a Gem!!!!!

thankfully this concert was recorded, what a loss it would be if the footage was not found. Do you have any other 'new' material? There are so many pro-shot concerts like the Erwin Centre in 1989 that we still cannot see 30 years on... will the footage ever arise? if it does it will take an army of stevie fans to encourage its release.

I'm glad to see one of the B-rolls was liberated. To think almost all of the footage from "The New Music" was going to be junked (plus many more raw master videos from 1979-1990). One of the producers of the show offered to buy the tapes and keep it in the station. It's amazing what still exists, I just hope there is a way that they can share the tapes online - even if they have a logo covering the screen. Thank you, Silesius and Xavi for sharing this tape! I do wonder how El Mocambo looks like now with all the modifications/restorations.

Quisiera comentar que el audio de la guitarra no era realmente fuerte como miticamente se dice, cuando la camara esta a un costado claramente es la voz y el bajo q estan a arriba de volumen, recien se empareja cuando la camara esta adelante y aun asi no esta fuerte. Un abrazo desde Argentina!

You know for days following the show, most probably couldn't stop talking about it! My father went to a show in Miami and then in Cocoa Beach a couple days apart in 1983. Both times many didn't know who SRV was. After the show they sure did!!

🎸Coming up on 40 years since July '83 that Stevie and the boys rocked the El Mocambo for their debut record tour. Incredible to see some new footage of Stevie there. He is So missed. There's got to be a lot more footage of other shows. Wish it would get released.

The only downside to SRV and DT’s El Mocambo show was that Stevie skipped a section on ‘Lovestruck Baby’-he left out “I still remember, and let it be said. The way you make me feel would take a fool to forget. I swore a ton o’ bricks had hit me in the head, what you do little Baby I ain’t over it yet!”
