My thoughts and reaction to the new Bring Me The Horizon song "Ludens" which appears on the PS4 game soundtrack for Death Stranding. This marks a return to a bit of a heavier sound for the band, but not entirely...

Like yeah it's heavier and all but I'm just disappointed this wasn't a full song advertisement for Luden's cough drops smh
We need Count your blessings
Best part is that this song was written in 5 days
Really? That's sick
@@BeyondARTV Their guitarist Lee also wasn't there to help write as he'd had a kid so Oli and Jordan apparently wrote the whole song in hotels in Russia
There's a link here where Oli talks about it. twitter.com/BBCR1/status/1192037682869870595
WOW I didn’t know that
kinda makes sense
Supeycal that’s why there’s no guitar riff.
Love them or hate them, no one can deny bring me the horizon have no boundaries when it comes to experimentation and introducing new sounds, they truly are one of the most innovative bands of this generation
As someone that didn't like Amo very much, I god damn LOVE this song
AGREE
SAAMMEE
I love this song!
It is a perfect blend of... basically every sound they ever did. You can obviously hear Amo in it, also a lot of Sempiternal, and the overall vibe I'm getting from this is similar to That’s the Spirit.
I just love it when bands create new sounds my incorporating their older ones as well, and it worked out perfectly on Ludens!
When the song first came on, I was thinking meh, this is okay. But as it went on, I was like okay wow, this is awesome. It was stuck in my head for the next hour, and I’d only played it once
Man you should look at jordan fish latest insta post. They recorded the song, mixed it and mastered it at a hotelroom in 5 days. They literally used a bath robe as a room to isolate the microphone
well there's now a contender for my favorite BMTH song from this year against Nihilist Blues
Same! Those are my two favorites along with In the Dark from BMTH this year
It took me a while to come around to Nihilist Blues but now it’s one of my favorite BMTH songs of all time
@@soulspark22 nope
I honestly don't see the appeal in In The Dark. Not saying it's bad, but the chorus lacks catchiness and the guitar riffs sound like an Anne-Marie song. It's one of the weakest songs on Amo for me. Nihilist Blues is pretty good, but kind of goes on for too long and doesn't sound like a band
If you haven't heard it check out Annisokay's cover of NB.
Luden is Latin for player the game has a Big focus on separating the generations from sapiens to ludens
It’s more of a meta term within the game than a faction
Imagine if they had more then a week to make this song...
Bring Me the Horizon is one of the best "genre-less" bands ever. This song is basically a testament to how great and unbounded they can be imho.
When people ask what kind of music they do it's like you have to break out a whole timeline of their albums... Same with Muse and so many other bands 😆
I genuinely really enjoyed this song.
I thought it was awesome. Managed to blend all the great electronic and synth items from Amo into a heavier side more akin to Sugar Honey Ice & Tea or Happy Song. So excited for all the interesting work they're gonna put out in the near future!
BTW The intro chants in Shadow Moses by BMTH are from the background song that plays in “Shadow Moses Island” in Metal Gear Solid.
I heard people say it's their last 3 albums fused together in one song and I can definitely hear that, on the verse it sounds like a song straight off Amo and the chorus is very TTS, while that breakdown is just a bliss and would not be out of place on a song from the Sempiternal era.
Love that youre always so fast with a review!! Thanks yet again for sharing your opinionxx
:)
Hideous Kojama is my favorite game developer
Yeah fuck that kojima guy hes overrated kojama is the greatest ever
I just wanted to ask
What types of games do you play when you wanna play on your ps4?
Spider-Man PS4, GTA V, Resident Evil series, The Evil Within, Crash Bandicoot trilogy, Uncharted, Red Dead Redemption 2...off the top of my head. That's most of them I think.
@@BeyondARTV Same. Spooky and cinematic games.
This song with the one Chvrches made for the game are my favorites♥
They’re both fantastic
Love this song. It's rare that I can say I LOVE a song on the first listen. This is that song!
Okay but where is the review for "Fine" by Mike Shinoda
I only just realised The SLP is on the Death Stranding: Timefall soundtrack, the solo project of Sergio Pizzorno from Kasabian
2:53 middle fingers up
The breakdown is nuts! I'm digging this single.
I agree with this review. Great job John. Could you remake your list mcr's best songs in light of their reunion. You better include it's not a fashion statement it's a fucking deathwish in the list this time. Please.
I will include whatever I want to, it's my list not yours you know. I'm not putting out a new list until I find out if they're releasing new music or not
@@BeyondARTV didn't have to clap back that hard lmao. great review.
@@xaviermusic3198 No problem. I kinda deserved it.
@@BeyondARTV Right. I'm Sorry. That was a bit much.
Happy and sad you’ve mentioned Brazil hahaha. greetings from there!!
Amo is still my favourite album released this year, and nihilist blues is one of my favourite songs of the year. Ludens is also stellar, so it’s fair to say the boys have had a fantastic run in 2019!
Nihilist Blues is fucking amazing
ludens, nihilist blues, in the dark, i don't know what to say, sugar honey ice & tea.
This song gave me chills! I loved it! Might honestly become one of my favorite BMTH tracks.
Can I just note that they've used EXACTLY THE SAME sample of the kid's voice saying "okay" as Melanie Martinez on Fire Drill
p.s. I'm really enjoying the song though. the first "GIVE ME A BREAK" makes me feel very good for some reason
Glad to see this is it's own thing instead of in a Rapid Reviews!! Great song!!!! If you get a chance reviews Fever 333s song on the next RR🤘🤘
Wasn't so sure how this song would play out, but HOLY FUCK it's FANTASTIC! I'm absolutely blown away by this.
Anyone else wants John to review the whole Death Stranding soundtrack?? Also the song Brendon sang Into The Unknown?
The CHVRCHES track is a good'un.
QJ89 Yes I love it
amo seems like you must stop thinking about Rock as a genre but Rock as a form of Art
LOVE THAT TRACK!
Sounds like the best parts of their 3 records smashed together And i LOVE it.
It’s a fantastic mix of both new and old BMTH. And they only produced it in 5 DAYS!
the name Ludens actually appears in the masks some characters wear in the game, it appears written on there foreheads.
This track would definitely fit right at home on the Cyberpunk 2077 soundtrack.
Northlane's new album "Alien" as well... lots of cool stuff on there.
I really like this song, it’s like that Poppy song (I Disagree) and it’s great they’ve combined that heavy sound in the second half of the song with Syke’s clean vocals. Great video as always John!
Kevin Fernandez PR! The song is so good!!
This song definitely put elements of Amo, That’s The Spirit, and Sempiternal with some of This Is Hell and I just fucking love that! 5 minute song written in 5 days definitely shaped them after Amo! I did enjoy Amo, though, but damn this was a great track! They also have stated that they may not release any more albums and jus singles, stand alone songs (like this one) and eps but still! It’s exciting to see where they will go! Do I wish that this wasn’t just for a video game? Yes but it’s taken them back an album or two as well as adding the shit they have been doing recently and it’s just amazing!
You should review some soundtracks and songs from games
This song kicks. Love it.
Didn't know of the existence of this song, probably because I've been off social media for a few days now, but I knew it had something to do with the game the moment I read the title here. Can't wait for tomorrow (release date)! ❤️
Really happy you love it, I love it too.
"We need somebody that's not one of these radical leaders". THATS THE WHOLE POINT, BRO! Cheers from Brazil.
Love the new song. BMTH are just killing it.
I really like this song. That bridge is sick and even my cat liked it.
Are you going to do a 21 songs for fall?
Nope, hardly anyone watches when I do seasonal videos on songs/albums so I gave up and made my peace with it. You can always re-watch the old ones for suggestions I believe there's a spotify playlist to go along with it
Beyond ARTV Aw 🙁
0:18-0:34 I do that too! (Except I play the few games I have a lot) 😂
The guitar tone and rapid playing in the bridge even reminded a bit of the jumpier tracks from Suicide Season.
Also, Heavy Metal was the best track on Amo. Fight me.
surprised me that flora cash is also included in the soundtrack
i really feel like this should've been on Amo!
It gives me MAJOR 30 Seconds to Mars vibes from the "LLFAD" era
Hey John, are you going to review the new pvris ep?
I did on Twitter like a week ago! @ARTVJon
@@BeyondARTV awesome I'll check it out!
I fucking love it. Mix of the best of everything they’ve done, chorus reminds me of Sempiternal, it’s fucking sick. Better than anything off AMO.
I really like the industrial music vibes on this single. Better than a good amount of amo tbh.
A great blend of their best albums
Really feel like they are one of the only bands that have successfully evolved and changed into becoming their own beast.
Did you see his interview on NME? He said they may never release another album again?
Eh I don't buy it. The band in your profile pic said the same thing, and look what happened. When they drop a few EPs and they don't do well, they'll do another album
Did they? I knew it was rumoured about Coldplay, but not Muse
Shadow Moses samples a song from a MGS solid way back in the day, its more than just a reference ruclips.net/video/s29DxujUzEg/видео.html
Chvrches also wrote a track for this game any chance ur gonna review it?
Most track reviews are covered in the rapid reviews show I do. I covered the new CHVRCHES about a month ago there! ruclips.net/video/1rIO_cZ6EEU/видео.html
Are you going to review the new Poppy single?
I only listen to two singles before an album drops so no. I’ll cover the album in some capacity though very excited for it
Beyond ARTV cool 😃 I look forward to it and I’m looking forward to hearing her live in February
This fucking song is 🔥
Dude, you should review Northlane's album "Alien..." One of the best metalcore albums of the year.
what about the neighbourhood?
Good rating. Same for me
This song is a lovechild from all their past albums
I quite like this. Sounds like a great mix of Amo and TTS. It is a bit messy but I generally like their new electronic sound. Glad to see them incorporating heavy elements into electronics.
Coming from someone who loved Amo btw.
I liked the song
I feel like the reason why we like the song is cuz his voice kinda scrapes through the whole track it’s not like in amo that’s all auto tune
Are you a fan of the band Dance Gavin Dance? If you don't know them you should check it out! ^-^
He’s done some DGD reviews
The crazy industrial stops remind me of Code Orange
Yo starset bro you should react
Kojima, is pronounced, (co-Ge-Ma)
Sorry i jus had too say so
Hated Amo but loved this song
Okay i really like this new song from bmth. Way better then amo and that's a fact.
Not to be that guy but you are mis pronouncing hideo kojimas name. It's "Huh-day-oh" "ko-g-ma" as far as I know
thanks to kojima.
Yeah honestly hope it’s an eff Brexit and BoJo song
Turnoverrrr review
Now that MCR is back there’s really no need for me to listen to BMTH
…lol wut
Was hoping to hear about the music, not about the politics behind it.
I talked about both. That’s what a review of a song is lol the message and the music.
Grow up
