This stitch would be AMAZING for blankets - with a beautifully flat back, straight edges and awesome texture on the front - it would look stunning in a single solid colour. 🔥 Frequently Asked Questions:
Do you have a left handed version of this video? If you are left handed, you can convert ANY video on RUclips yourself! Simply go to www.mirrorthevideo.com/ and follow the instructions to mirror flip any video to convert to left handed!
How much yarn will I need? This is a very tricky question to answer as there are so many variables! How much yarn you need will depend on which yarn you choose, the thickness of that yarn, your tension and how large you want your finished project to be. I suggest making a small sample first so you can gauge how much yarn you'll need. If making a crochet square, you can weigh your finished square to work out how much yarn it used!
How many squares do I need for a blanket? That all depends on the size of the square you are making and how big you want your finished blanket to be! I always advise making one square first then measuring the size of it. From there you can work out how many squares you will need to get the blanket size you want 😀
Do you have the written pattern? Yes! I have written patterns to accompany my video tutorials on my website here: www.hookedbyrobin.com The written pattern is generally released a week or so after the video tutorial to ensure there are no errors in the video itself and to make amendments in the written version if any are found. All the written patterns are FREE to access on my website
How can I print the pattern from your website? Do you have downloadable PDF's? Not at this time no. This may change in the future but for now, I only provide the written pattern directly on my website.
Can you remake this video so it is slower? If the video speed is too fast, you can slow it down! 😀 See this video on exactly how: • How to Adjust the Spee...
Why do you use American stitch terminology? I learnt using USA stitch terms, long before I even knew there was a difference between UK & US terminology! American terms are my "first language" so to speak. If you need a conversion chart, I have one here! www.hookedbyrobin.com/crochet...

Hi from Victoria, Australia (down under) I am new to crocheting (65) so these tutorials are so helpful, thanks for making it look so easy 🤪
You're so welcome Kristine, I am glad they are helping you!😀
There's something about the way you teach that just works for me!! Years of being taught and never having the click moment are now in the past, so glad I found your channel!!
Ohmygosh. This is the stitch Grandma used to make scrap blankets.
Lovely! It is a beautiful stitch Annie.😃🧶
I had just saved this stitch on my pinterest Board but all the tutorials made no sense! And then here you are 😭🥰
😃🧶 glad it makes sense! X
Just love the way you teach in this video I had no idea how to identify the single crochet your explanations are just great I wish everybody did that thank you
Binge watching crochet channels and making projects. Big thumbs up for your camera work as never out of focus and I can see the stiches perfectly. Thanks from Canada and stay safe everyone. My scarf awaits.
This is the first RUclips for crochet that hasn’t driven me bonkers. Love your simple straightforward explanations without taking forever to get to the “how-to.”
Here’s the thing - I know this stitch and love it. However, whether I know the stitch or not, every time I watch your videos, I have to hurry up and finish what I’m working on to make whatever it is you just showed! You make it so enticing that I just can’t help myself. 😁 Thank you for inspiring me!!! ❤️ I finished a baby blanket this afternoon. Guess what I get to start tonight?! Thank goodness for stash, right?! 🧶 🧶 🧶
The humble stash saves us all! 🤣🧶 You are far more disciplined than me, I immediately start something new and forget whatever it was I was working on LOL
I know shes amazing. I had to hurry up and finish my granny ripple Afghan haha. I'm now working on the granny heart square she showed lol .
Oooohhhh, don’t let me fool you! I have many, many unfinished blankets (all different shapes, sizes and yarn weights) to join together. 🙄 I’m not telling you how many, just trust me . . . it’s many. 🤭 I do have an excuse, though. I want to block them before joining. I know I don’t have to (made many of those), but I want to. I will jump at it, when the mood strikes. I, also, have several amigurumi to sew together. And, . . . the list goes on. So, if I’m working on a project that is a solid piece (like this one), I finish them fairly quickly or at least I keep working on them and they get done in a reasonable amount of time. Take care. 🤗
Yes I'm the same way lol
RIGHT!! I LOVE her videos, they are so easy to follow and replicate without ever having to follow a written pattern. She has by FAR the BEST instruction videos on you tube!!!
Love 💗 this. I must say that row 3 does not seem so hard thanks to you making it seem so simple with how well you explain the work! Thank you again! 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰💗🥰🥰
Hi again! A new stitch added to the book! I've been doing crafts like this since I was 8 on my own! I'm 19 and I'm looking forward to keep this passion for crochet, knitting, etc., even when I'm an old lady 😂😀
I like that it looks complicated and difficult but it isn't.
Definitely!😃🧶
I TOTALY understand your multiple of 3 plus 3! Thank you! ❤️. Love this texture!
My Mum loves this pretty pattern.Thank you.
You are welcome David! 🥰🧶
Thank you for taking your time and showing how to actually do the stitch’s and you explain everything so well. ❤❤❤
What a lovely comment, thank you Michelle! 😃🥰
I just love this Stitch absolutely amazing. It only takes a little bit of time to change a little bitty thing and it turns out to be something very beautiful thank you
As I was swatching this, I noticed that the bars wanted to lean a little to the left. So I thought "hey, diagonals, that might be cool!" and tried it. Worked great! Of course, it adds in another one of the "tricky" stitches at the start of every third pattern repeat, plus extra thinking about how many SC's to do at the start and end of each, but that just made it more fun! I tagged you on insta to show you :)
This looks like a great project to do while watching a movie or something! Can't wait to try it out!
The bar stitch is gorgeous and I love the colors you are using. Thank you Robin!!!

I love all of your work. I prefer the nice clean and tidy work as well. Great job! U r my favorite channel to watch
I always avoid Fp stitches, mostly because that pattern always seems to include BP stitches, which I find sooo aggravating,…this first fp row is also a pain,…but so worth it,… have a ton of men and boys in my family, and I’m always looking for more masculine stitches, as I find shells and variations of, to be on the feminine side…so thank you, Fr making this an add on to my “man stitch” list…😍😍
You are welcome Suzanne, I am glad it helped. 😀🧶
This is a very pretty pattern. I am definitely going to have to try it. Thank you for this; you are a wonderful teacher.

Love this stitch this will be my next baby blanket project. Thanks you make it easy and the 3rd row was quite simple.
What is this stitch called again?
Crochet bar stitch😃
It is perfect for a baby blanket Cheryl!😃🥰
At the 5:51 mark where she says to do a double crochet in the next two stitches - she does single crochets in the next two stitches. But after that hurdle everything fell into place and it was easy to follow. This will work nicely for a washcloth also.
Love your Tutorials really helped me,I’m just starting out

I love this stitch😍 thank you for sharing.👍
You are very welcome!
Thank you for this video tutorial. I am making a headband using this stitch :)
Robin, the answer to the problem is actually a very simple one. With a starting row of single crochets, you always lose one chain, i.e. 20 becomes 19 for example. You have "blocks" of 2 single crochets and a front post double. Blocks of 3 and to anchor them, you follow with 2 single crochets to balance it out, like you would continue the pattern on through infinity. The only problem is, you have to adjust for losing the chain when you turn and start the first row of single crochets, bumping the + stitches to 3, which is also your increment or block size. It just worked out that way.
Great stitch and great tutorial!!!
Brilliant stutch and your video is really clear to follor. Thank you so much for sharing. 🌻

Beautiful!¬ Thank you for showing me this!
Thank you Joanne!🤗
Thank you for sharing absolutely love this stitch using it for @auntbecscreations stitch along. Also I think it will be lovely in green and white for my Christmas blanket 🧶
This was a great stitch to learn, however you do say double crochet a couple times when you are doing the 2 single crochets in between the bar stitch. I think it happens twice on the first bar stitch row you do after the first bar stitch. I was a bit confused at first as sometimes I just listen while I work on it, so I had to look and see it was actually a single crochet. Thank you for all your awesome videos
