The UK gave putin his first wish with Brexit don't make the same mistake by abandoning Europe and aligning with the US. They dragged us into their wars but failed to come to our aid until the last moment. They are a dying empire just as the UK was. That would be a very bad investment. I suggest the UK strengthen its ties with Canada, Europe, and the Asian Pacific countries. Maybe we should rethink AUKUS.
I think Brexit, may, paradoxically, actually help strengthen the EU. They now understand that the things they took for granted in the Brussels bubble may not actually enjoy the popular support they took for granted. The UK is going to remain centred on NATO. Militarily, I think everyone here now also realises that the years of downsizing the military are well and truly over, so I expect us to remain fully engaged with Europe despite Brexit. The simple truth is that none of us, can take on Russia alone, should it come to that, but together, we should be at the very least, be able to stop them. Personally, I'd like to see NATO operating as a defensive force west of Kharkiv, allowing Ukraine to concentrate their assets where needed. Putin is many disagreeable things, but he'd not an idiot, attacking NATO forces would see the end of his Ukrainian adventure, and very likely ejection of Russian forces back to their own border. It would also spell the end of his tenure, as were this to occur, it'd all have been for nothing.
@Fidd88-mc4sz Maybe - but it depends on many variables. I believe Putin's objective is to sufficiently divide Europe as to make NATO unworkable. If trump pulls out or weakens US involvement then that changes everything. And in the end NATO and Europe have shown nothing but weakness toward putin. When article 5 was tested it failed. The US and Europe buckled at the knees despite many provocations. The only time NATO has acted is when it was invited by the US. Without the US as a stabilising entity Germany might have stepped up but it has followed the US. Perhaps Poland and other states can form a pact. Either way strong messages need to be sent.
I agree with almost all the above - but IMHO, it might be good advice to uphold AUKUS as well, especially with Australia being clandestinely on the rise and in a strategically important position. But we'd also love to have you back in the Union. Stay strong, Britain. From Germany✌
WHat "socialist countries" of Europe? Is this guy nuts? Did he wake up in kinda time capsule not knowing that the countries of the eastern block are now capitalistic?
Americans... They will never learn. They always confuse the terms socialism, social market economy (that's the one deeply rooted in capitalism) - and communism. Even the better educated Americans are struggling with those terms; yet they don't seem particularly interested in learning the differences. It's actually not that complicated... But it's their deficit in wisdom and knowledge, not ours🤷♂...

The USA tends to prioritize its own interests, often at the expense of others-just look at the situations in Mexico and Canada. You wouldn't want your country to follow that path. The question is, could the UK that uses 'for profit at least cost' neoliberal economics and governance could cope with US focused free trade agreement after being weakened by 14 years of 'austerity' from a financially conservative Tory government?
I don’t understand his comment about the value added tax. The US has exactly the same thing. It is called sales tax in the US. The levels may not be the same but it is not a tariff it applies to all goods independent of whether they are an import or not.
His claim that Britain's VAT is essentially a tariff shows a misunderstanding of basic economic concepts. While tariffs are specifically designed to make foreign products more expensive to protect domestic industries, VAT (Value Added Tax) is applied equally to all goods and services, regardless of their origin. Furthermore, his argument overlooks that the United States has its own similar consumption tax system through state and local sales taxes. Given his apparent confusion over these fundamental economic distinctions, his credibility on this topic is questionable.

A referendum has to take place on this very important subject , let the people decide America or the EU going forward
But since it's a false dichotomy the answer would be meaningless. The EU has governments ranged from democratic socialism right through to borderline far right. Lumping them all in one big grey lump and calling it "socialism" is typical American know-nothing stupidity.
Yes because a referendum worked out so well for brexit - numpty
Why is there a choice? We can be pragmatic and intelligent about this, it’s a complex situation after all…
[6:32] We only have to look at water and rail to see how the US' vulture funds laughed all the way to the bank, while the UK's taxpayers were left holding the bag The £200-Billion+ prize of the NHS is the big one :-)
Os course , let us look at Japan , South Korea , as well. NHS is the moral and financial bankrupt .
By dying empire don't you mean ours (UK) you in a daydream or live in a nice private estate
I agree with almost all the above - but IMHO, it might be good advice to uphold AUKUS as well, especially with Australia being clandestinely on the rise and in a strategically important position. But we'd also love to have you back in the Union. Stay strong, Britain. From Germany✌

It's mandated by individual states not the Fed govt.

Did anyone else hear him say that the US is doing 50% better than Europe and then he says tariffs on European countries are important because at the moment it's unfair? Also, the US trade deal with Canada and Mexico has been great for the US.. I wonder how Canada and Mexico feel about it?
And he's correct!
Love Americans but not there health care system.
They earn much, much more mate. If you’re over the bottom 35% in income, it’s better in the USA because you can easily afford the private cover.
I think on paper its good. They spend more on socialized care than the UK does which is not really a good thing, but they make a good pretense of being 'free-market' capitalists.
@@edwardburroughs1489 OK.
