HOW TO MAKE PENCIL / DRIFTING WEIGHT MOLD FROM SCRAP !!!!!!!

  • This is how I make my Drift / Pencil weight molds. The first 12 min is just getting the aluminum for the mold ready. It was cut from scrap I had. From that point On is actually making the mold. It takes 30 to a hour to make them. These can be used as filler for rubber hose or anything else you make drift weights from. I just use them the way they are for drifting and anchoring.

    Or you can pour some lead into a cold channel iron. Just pour it in and let it run down, solidifies immediately, drop it out and do the next one.

  • @darrellwiseman4518
    @darrellwiseman4518 4 года назад

    Enjoy watching creative men do craftwork, but you can buy bulk lead spools in 1/4 or 3/8" diameters and just cut them to whatever length you want and use pliers to flatten and a hole maker to complete it. I expect the cost of the lead coil spools will be insignificantly more than the bulk lead you use to make these molded ones.

    • @bowl830
      @bowl830  4 года назад

      Lead spools are 5-8 dollars per pound. Around here I get soft pure lead for about .40 a pound. And it’s just fun making stuff lol. It’s about the challenge for me. Thanks for watching and commenting I appreciate it.

    • @bowl830
      @bowl830  4 года назад

      The one I use I actually have spring pins in one side one on each end. I should have shown that. I drilled the hole for the spring pin through both sides. Installed pins in one side then over sized the other so it would slide on and off easy. then I use a spring clamp to hold together. Thanks for watching and commenting I appreciate it

    Lol. Uses a table saw to cut a pilot hole so that way when he drills it’ll be “tried and true”. Then uses a hand drill to drill final hole! YOU DO REALIZE NO MATTER HOW HARD YOU TRY YOU ARE NOT GOING TO DRILL STRAIGHT DOWN BY HAND. THIS IS WHAT DRILL PRESSES ARE FOR. EVEN THEN IT COULD VEER OFF. YOU ARE BETTER OFF DRILLING WITH A SHORT BIT TWICE. ONE ON EACH END.
