    I just sold my Mach-E GT Performance for the EV6 GT, and, respectfully, I don't think that Rory did a good job of understanding and reviewing this car. It's actually a real HOOT, and has perhaps the best bang for the buck (or pound) of any EV performance-oriented car. It outshines the i4 M50 in interior space, handling, and acceleration, and price. I find that the car has a lot of adjustability in its suspension, I just don't think Rory seemed to spend much time with it in anything but GT mode (which is a stiff ride). I think Rory couldn't look get past the sport seats -- I think he just might not be, uh, the body type for this car. For those who fit, it's completely wrong to dismiss this as a viable competitor to the i4 M50 and base Taycan. And it blows the Mach-E away with its much more sophistcated powertrain and suspension. Oh and I got one for $12k off of MSRP in the US, I think it's a steal.

    • @michaelc2254
      @michaelc2254 11 месяцев назад +18

      Agree. I canceled my i4 M50 order after a test drive in the EV6 GT, which I bought. I immediately felt more comfortable in the Kia - much better forward visibility and unlike Rory, I love the seats. I think the tech in the Kia is better, the paddle regen control is wonderful. I am also getting way better range than the EPA rating. How Rory can say the car has unnecessary power and is not fun is beyond me.

      This is also the first "negative" review I see of the EV6 GT, other reviewers where having a blast and where calling it the first real performance EV.

    • @viisin
      @viisin 11 месяцев назад +6

      Yeah, I don't get the seat comments. When I heard that I thought "Huh? I've never felt disccomfort along the thigh in this? I thought the seats were actually quite good".
      The climate/media control switching... never found that a problem either. Though these days I default it to climate (if I switch it to media it reverts to climate again after a few seconds) as nearly all the media controls are operated through buttons on the steering wheel.
      Australia may have a different suspension tune (or my prior experience is with stiff sports cars), but I'd hardly call the ride harsh, even in GT mode.
      I never really change the seat position, so lack of power seats isn't a big deal. Though I really would have liked the ventilation that is on the GT-Line seats.
      I haven't pushed my EV6 GT hard around corners yet (still getting used to it; don't want to bingle it), but there may be some truth to the lack of predictability mid corner. Shall see how much of that sense diappears once I'm more accustomed to the car.
      Overall, this car is a sensational drive, as well as a comfy cruiser. And in a squirt from the traffic lights it will destroy pretty much any ICE car out there.

    The turn radius is probably reduced due to the size of the electric motors, depending on their placement. Or possibly because it's using axles and CV joints from another vehicle, to save on R&D and production costs, making it difficult to optimize its turning radius, as the pre-existing parts are already a certain size.

    You dont have to press the heat button. If you're in one of the auto heating modes the car toggles that on and off for you. The reason its there is to allow you to use an ambient air fan to clear the windscreen without all the power use of using the heater. I own one. It doesnt matter much in the EV6 but i wouldve killed for that feature in my 1st gen 24kwh Nissan Leaf 😂

I want to be able to 'ease' through a corner by touching the sideline without getting into a 'Tug of War' with the steering wheel. As for have the damned thing scare the carp out of my passengers by 'Bonging' repeatedly... HELL NO! I have tried and failed to turn this off in the menus; having to turn it off each trip is a faff. My BMW allows me to turn the steering-tugger off, and choose whether to have vibrate on, and at what level... it would never be so uncouth as to involve my passengers in the decision by yelling at them! AND IT REMEMBERS WHAT I TOLD IT!... it is my car, after all. 😡

    The heat does not come on automatically when you set the temperature, because it's a thermostat. This means that when the temperature varies too far above, or too far below the temperature that you have set, it will automatically turn on heat or cool depending on the circumstance. If you set the temperature to the temperature that you want, and need use heat to get there, then you need to press heat. If you set the temperature to what you want, and need to get cool to get there, then you press the cooling button. But if you just set the temperature and leave it alone, it works automatically.

    I have had one of these for 6 months. You don’t need to press the heat button if climate is in auto mode as it should be. Not remotely bothered about the lack of electric seats. No idea what Rory is going on about regarding the bolster 🤷‍♂️. I find the handling is great (and I’ve had M cars previously). Does Rory know how dual motors work? The GT has a more powerful rear motor and you can’t direct power from the front motor to the rear one. It has similar performance to a Tesla Model 3 P (which I had before my GT - the GT is a much better car) but I don’t recall Rory saying that had too much power. Seems like Rory set out to discredit the car from the off - unlike the other EV6 GT reviews. Strange.

    • @AutoTraderTV
      @AutoTraderTV  11 месяцев назад

      Whether it’s heat or auto, you do need to press a button in addition to setting the temp via the knob. Not the case on other cars.
      I think you misunderstood by point about moving power front and rear. Yes it has a less powerful motor up front, but my preference would be for it to use even less of the power it has at the front during cornering (in GT mode specifically).
      And ALL high performance EVs are unnecessarily fast - especially when they’re family cars whose primary purpose is not performance. The g-forces you pull when deploying the full and immediate torque are too uncomfortable to use regularly.
