Brands GP circuit is wonderful. In 1985 (I was about 7 or 8 yys old at the time) my local school was allowed to do a 10 lap charity bike ride around the Indy circuit. Where the Indy circuit leaved the GP circuit l, the road had been closed off with cones. Myself and friend decided to go for a lap of the GP circuit and sneeked past the barrier!. We cycled a lap of the GP circuit. To be able to cycle such a historic piece of Tarmac i will not forget. Long live Brands Hatch.
Thanks, the car is a Lola 0490 and is based on a Lola 89/90 model. I had the car built in 2004. My name is Harry Chapman and I drive the car, not always good as you can see from my other videos! Cheers 27
@BrokenBaculum The main reason actually is that during the British GP, Silverstone technically becomes one of the busiest airports in the world (due to helicopters coming in and out). Because Brands Hatch is based under the flight path (for Gatwick Airport I believe), its airspace cannot accomodate the traffic.
Hi, I'm glade that you like my vid's, got some new ones going up soon. With regards the video it's 100%, if you time it, it's a 1:34.84. I have looked for the official times for 07 but can't find them but in 06 i did a 1:36.556. Cheers 27.
Hi, obviously you liked the brands vid, so on that note I will put together a Silverstone one but they take a lot of time so look back late January. Have a good Christmas!
I heard that the F1 teams want a billard smooth paddock, as you know the paddock at Brands its on quite an incline. That also and the track hasn't got big enough run off on any corners apart from possibly the first 4. Another thing, todays cars would lap the circuit in around one minute which isn't long enough... but thats more to do with track length.
John S - Depends what you mean by brake hard. At Paddock you brake pretty much just after the end of the rise so the car is not as loaded as on the flat (so its a little light) meaning you cant mash the brakes, nor can you brake in towards the apex as you might normally because the road goes downhill as you turn in so poor front grip ( poor braking + understeer) , but you still apply the maximum braking the car will take before turn in and drop 1 or two gears depending on car etc and have to get the braking over before turn in -But - you still apply the maximum braking the car will take before this! Of course its possible to brake 1 meter earlier etc and be quicker, but my point is you still brake hard! You arrive in top gear and are faced with a downhill (longish) but still 90 degree right hander !!
I'm glade it has helped. With all these positive comments I'm thinking of doing some more "How to drive" of the other circuits that I have raced on.. Cheers 27.
I only live about 20 Minutes from Brands, Love the GP Track Unfortuantly their only allowed to hold 6 Events a year on it: BSB, A1GP, Histroic festival, WTCC, F3/GT and the BTCC all got it this year.. Would love to drive it one day :)
Have to say not the quickest lap but tidy enough I guess. And John Smith , yes you do brake hard for Paddock ..if you don't it just means you came off the throttle too early on the approach
If you need somewhere to stay that's warm and dry and only 5min from Brands have a look at thecottagewrotham directly opposite the George and Dragon in the High Street . Garage suitable for upto six bikes ideal overnighter for a track day
My Pi system for 29/04/07 shows a 1:33.60 on lap 12 of the race but as I said I can't find any data anywhere to confirm it. Good luck with your racing.
A lot of Brands Hatch corners should be taken in second while others in third. Some cars can take Clark Curve in 4th, but those are mainly cars with a high torque figure, such as F1 cars.

This video has helped me improve lap times on my Sony PSP. I play Race Driver 2006. It has Brands Hatch. I wish I could find this for every course.

Thanks, look out for my race at the Brands Indy Circuit from this month. I had to start from the pit lane. More how to drive vid's coming soon!
Thanks for pointing them out especially the time as I didn't consider that.

If you brake hard for Paddock you won't get a quick lap. Sometimes it's quicker to lift off 1 metre earlier and brake less..
Love the eerie music 👌🏽
great video and explanation Ms

Is Silverstone next on the list?? :)
I love driving on this Circuit. So much better than in rFactor
very nice, but what kind of car is this? and who's driving?
great video but what's up with the suspense thriller music?
"brake hard and change down". Oh! Thanks for being specific!

I believe it required the entire circuit to be ripped out and rebuilt, and the local council would not grant planning permission (what's new eh!).
great vid! thx.
So, I need to -brake- hard going in to the corners, and -accelerate- hard going out. Got it! :)
Thanks for your comment. Nancy is the worst driver I know so there is no way she will ever be racing beyond Scalextric! Regards Harry
You don't brake hard for Paddock, just rest your foot on the brake pedal. Braking hard will destroy the lap it's not a sharp corner.
yes you do!
Why on earth the addition of inappropriate music ? We don't get racing cars interrupting music concerts.
Have a good day, best of luck. 27
Just ask Nigel Mansell. He will tell you how to drive Brands Hatch,
I don't think his advice would differ somehow.
whos the driver?
I think the circuit is too dangerous for F1 at Brands, but I'm not sure, can any one else help?
They have an Indy circuit where Surtees feeds straight onto Clark Curve.
My dad brakes after the board after paddock
Whats with the eerie music? lol
THE HMAN!!!!!!
The music was out of place. Engine noise is all you need in a short like this.
Did I just watch a murder mystery?
@hchapman27 + @rfactorcrashes Yeah, go ahead. Insult each other... very useful...
:(
sounds like someone is about to get murdered! and I cant hear the engine! still gave it a like
Your right, my how to drive Silverstone GP will be better.
*FACILITIES* Ooops!
Why doesn't F1 come here? If Bernie is pissed off with Silverstone's lack of fascilities, why not?
her voice is brutal
Sounds like she likes it rough.
Funny
Your cute!
That's not nice is it!!!!!! People like you should be banned from sites like this.
Why cant you do English properly!!!! and stop wasting your time making unwanted remarks.
Harry Chapman "why can't you do English properly"
Harry Chapman be stil.the video is just bad
