- Nopuko Air Coaster located at Lost Island Theme Park in Waterloo Iowa. This Vekoma SLC model previously operated in South Africa before being relocated to Iowa to open in 2022.

I rode on this coaster back in South Africa when it was still called the Cobra. Brings back memories. Thanks for posting!
I can’t believe a NEW theme park actually got an SLC
How can I learn more about types of rollercoasters and manufacturers and such? Are there any good resources or places to start?
A new park got an USED SLC, yes. Yes they did. The very worst type of new coaster, they bought used. Hahaha Good luck, Lost Island.
Real question is as a park, how can tou buy a SLC ? Don't you know a bit of its reputation ?
@@leyoshivenere350Apparently, the owners in fact did not know, but they found out very quickly before the ride was assembled and bought newer trains for it.
This ride use to be here in cape town south Africa...it was originally named the cobra here at our ratanga junction theme park...which sadly closed it's doors may 1 2018...after operating for almost 20 years...till today we are still heartbroken but glad to see the coaster is In good hands 🥺❤️
Even if it is an SLC, it's at least pretty cool to see it receive the new trains, so it's presumably a lot more bearable than the usual "Hang N' Bang" ones that absolutely wreck those kinds of rides. And it's one of those rarer models with the additional helix before the brake run (ala _El Jaguar_ at Isla Magica in Spain), so there's also that!
I live in the Des Moines metro area which is about two hours or so from Lost Island and my home park has always been Adventureland, but I hope to maybe visit Lost Island this summer. I’ve heard this coaster is pretty rough, but I’m still pretty excited to ride it!
Surprising to say the least the amount of time money and theming they put into the park and someone said “hey! Let’s go buy the most hated coaster model in the world and make that one of our opening day attractions!”

There’s one really rough part in the first inversion
apart from the first inversion it looks decently smooth, ofcourse SLCs can rattle a bit but in my opinion with the new trains there is no headbanging.
One question tho, is it a thighcrush? Because Condor at Walibi with the new trains is.

The vest restraint was comfy the ride was a bit jerky but to be honest...one of the better slc....I've been on the one at elich gardens....I needed advil after t hat ride
The only part that looks rough is the first inversion. But I can bet that first element was worse when the coaster was brand new. The rest looks surprisingly smooth, especially the last helix. Any way you look at it, it’s still one of the better Vekoma SLC coasters. Great refurbishment, updated trains, good paint job as well. Six Flags should get rid of these things & relocate them to smaller parks like Lost Island. They would get a lot more love.
Oh trust me I went on that thing and I’m 11 years old and from my experiences yesterday I got tones of bruises and hurt my back but it was still fun if you sat in the back

@@northstarcoasters there has only ever been 1 SLC in south Africa so yes this is the cobra

This park is in DESPERATE need of some larger trees. It looks like they just planted small bush like plants. They need some fast growing trees and they need them asap.
PEOPLE NEED TI GO TO THIS PARK!!! THIS FAMILY HAS THEIR LIVES ON THE LINE HERE AND CAN LOSE EVERYTHING IF IT FAIKS.
It’s also not complete and they have an amazing water park
