    There's definitely something to be said about the last one, not just about music but maybe about life in general. The idea of being scarce enough to where your still wanted but where your still respected and revered in your given field. Chuck didn't give interviews to anyone and everyone, wasn't pulling crazy stunts to say relevant and he was able to maintain a huge following of people who eat up everything he's got to offer.

      Yes , I feel the same , and not 1 person I knew till now has that. Why wouldn't you keep progressing toward a goal? In life or whatever. Never be content with what you are. Never take a step back and say "Life is to enjoy the simple things". I'm just so irritated and enraged when people say they wanna 'settle'.
      Might seem like a basic human greediness for money , like once you get some wealth you might want more, but the world around us ain't stopping. Nothing is like " oh we got electric cars now , we can stop. Seems like we attained the peak of humanity." No. If our previous generation had thoughts like that we won't have all this innovation.
      Just push a little harder. A little further. Every time and don't stop. Like why should anyone stop? You'll get more as you go further. For every inch the ocean rises up , which might seem insignificant , the entire land area reduces by several thousands of acres!

      When I read this, the first thing I thought was, "Chuck was just being... human." Besides the music, I just love the person that Chuck was.

    Yup! Bill Andrews was basic. Then the clouds opened up when he got Sean
    Reinart. Then with Gene Hoglan they opened up some more. With Richard Christy, a supurb, underrated drummer. it was a torenntial downpour!!!

    #3 is super interesting and I haven't heard it discussed before or ever thought about it, but I think it's excellent advice. Some of the greatest bands have deliberately stayed disengaged from their scene and I think it's helped their sound remain unique, Spawn of Possession comes to mind.

    • @MScotty90
      @MScotty90 8 месяцев назад

      Agreed, and when bands/artists get too engaged with the scene I feel like the music starts to take a backseat. Just look at all the drama in the early Black Metal scene, or the constant beefs that happen in the rap scene pretty much every single day. I think all that type of stuff is a result of the artists focusing too much on the scene instead of just worrying about the music.

    It is truly unique and remarkable that Chuck stayed away from the religiously themed trend of death metal.
    Deicide wrote "Kill the Christian" and Death wrote "Without Judgment" in 1995.

      I get that a lot of people are saying that that like simple and straight-forward music. But that is exactly what parts of this video are about. Chuck evolved throughout his entire career. Back in the days when the first 3 albums were made they might have still been somewhat original, but if he stayed on that very same path Death would have turned out as one band out of many in the swamp of the genre instead of the legacy he left for people to enjoy. There are people who like to be surprised by music and not deliver albums to people just to satisfy their expectations with the illusion that they are listening to something new. Chuck was an innovator.
