U must listen next to "Wrong Side of Heaven" !! Powerful message for everyone!!! Thank you again for another raw and heartfelt reaction!!! USN retired!!!
For sure, "Wrong Side of Heaven" offers a perspective that often goes unnoticed as we get preoccupied navigating this rat race we call life, but it's one we ALL need to be aware of. Thanks for your service to this country, as well as other Vets here! Went to insert a U.S. flag icon after that comment, but was a little dismayed to find other "more important" flags available, but no U.S. flag. Oh well, the sentiment is there anyway. Murica!
@David Brown: Agreed, I would also encourage Jay and Amber to really watch the video, particularly the the statistics that are displayed throughout the runtime of the video That would really give them a serious shock
Way back in the early days of the channel, you did The Offspring's "Pretty Fly (For a White Guy)." You haven't done them since. I think it would be great if you did "Gone Away"... for yes, it was The Offspring who did the original version of this song in 1996, 21 years before FFDP did this cover. Other great Offspring songs are "Come Out and Play", "Gotta Get Away", "All I Want", and my personal favorite, "Why Don't You Get a Job?" (Fun fact about the video for "Job"... there's a scene in the video where the band walks by a clock tower... the SAME ONE that was in the Back to the Future movies!)
I was going to make this comment, Dexter's vocals on this are unsurpassed. I do enjoy listening to Five Finger Death Punch, I would not have picked a cover as a way to introduce them. In context, this is a good cover.
My father (a great soldier, terrible husband) and my stepfather (another good soldier, not so great father) were both career military, they are both dead from cancer, agent orange! The biological mess is still killing people today!..smfh..from Wyoming USA 🇺🇸 🤠
I'm a huge The Offspring fan, and this is one of the songs that helped me process my mother's death. I've never heard this version before, but the song really works to help understand and process loss.
I had the same experience with the og Offspring version of this song. Ironically, it was on the radio as we followed the ambulance to the hospital where I lost her 20 minutes later.
We played the Offspring version of this song at my son's funeral. We didn't lose him to war, but a tragic accident at 17. It's been just over 20 years since, but this song still pulls tears each time. Also played Ozzy's 'See You on the Other Side'.
💝💝💝 "Wrong Side Of Heaven" is a powerful song/video about Veterans, it's a must watch. And one of my favorite songs is "A Little Bit Off". They have quite a few great songs. "I Apologize" and "Wash It All Away" are just two more.
As a Veteran of 22 years who served in the Gulf War, this video really hit me. Jay made a 100% true we statement when he said that it is a brotherhood.
You must now watch Wrong Side of Heaven. Believe or not the video is even more tragic than this one. It's about, unfortunately, what happens when vets fall through the cracks. This song is actually by The Offspring and has a much more personal meaning for lead singer Dexter Holland. I'm a vet, Marines, and I now work at a VA hospital. I've seen 5FDP twice in concert. They take time in the show and ask all vets to raise their hands. They then ask everyone else to thank us for what we do. It's a powerful moment.
Amber...... I'm proud of you for keeping your eyes open and letting yourself be strong and emotional watching the whole video. I get it's about the song not necessarily the video. But there is nothing wrong with showing that emotion to your viewers. I appreciate it.
Absolutely have got to listen to "Wrong Side of Heaven". I'm a 20 year Navy Veteran, never saw close combat, but I was on the first US Navy ship to respond to the USS Cole bombing in Oct 2000. This song makes me cry every time and I'm not ashamed to say that.
I was 5 when my brother was sent to Vietnam he came home but not as the same person and took his own life a few years later. This song always hits hard but I love it. They are definitely one of the best bands ever
From an Air Force and Army family, but my younger brother joined the Marines and served in Afghanistan. He came back with health issues and passed away last year, still remember him as a little kid. I wish he had a little more but he was in so much pain and never complained.
My brother served in Afghanistan as a sniper- he says it changed him and his whole view on life knowing that he had personally taken the lives of other men.
My son spent a year in Iraq as a combat medic. He is no longer the same person. He went away and never really came back. And the Army doesn't give one f*ck.
@@gl15col I, too, spent a year in Iraq (I was combat arms), and, yes, it changed me. Keep an eye on your son. PTSD can develop and grow as time goes. Mine did. I now have dissociative, screaming anxiety attacks and can no longer work. Because I didn't retire from the Army (got out at ten years), I've no retirement. The VA does all they can, but they are seriously underfunded, and, beyond support, it isn't much. Speak openly, and without judgment, with your son. Let him cry if it comes. I wish him peace. I wish us all peace.
That song is SO POWERFUL for what we as humans have to go through when our loved ones go off to a war they did NOT ASK FOR, nor create. And when they don’t come home we lose parts of our soul that went with them. But that’s how utterly selfless and brave our WARRIORS are!! My heart. My soul goes out to all of our Military brothers and Sisters who fight for our Country. And to those we have lost, May peace be with you. All my love, light, and prayers are with the Men and Women Heros in our Military EVERYWHERE 💙☀️🙏 And to our awesome hosts J and the beautiful #AMBERSWAY
A band, one of few, who can speak for my Brothers, and me... Too many Brothers lost, and many since... We are losing Brothers and Sisters every day to suicide... I've served two combat tours, and this is my reality. Thank you, two, for caring. 🙏🏼🙏🏼 You're the ones we proudly fight for.
Retired Navy lady here. Thank you. Wrong Side of Heaven is another gut punch to watch and hear. It’s the aftermath of military service. And Jay, you have to watch the video (your eyes were closed for half this one, feeling the words); statistics and commentary are written on the screen. For both of you, you may want to watch the video twice, once for the visual impact, the other for the power of the lyrics. Heart-shatteringly rough. “Wrong side of heaven, righteous side of hell.” (Side note: thought you’d already reacted to WSoH.) FFDP is greatly loved by the military for showing the world the realities of military servicepeople in war today. Another great song/video similar but is police-centric is When the Seasons Change. Another heart-ripper.
These are some of the most patriotic men in the music industry as a Navy vet from desert storm they mean the world to me and as a DAV I know what it means to have brothers that are gone
Oh, Amber. I am crying along with you. Jay was jamming to the music and didn't see the heartbreaking video. I LOVE THIS BAND - top 3 for me. Now, please add these to your reaction list: Wrong Side of Heaven Coming Down Living The Dream The Bleeding (this one will probably be too hard for Amber)
This is a cover. Originally it is sang by the Offspring from 1997 and they give a completely different vibe with their version. So interesting to hear the different versions ❤ have a great day everyone !!!!!! Love from Ohio !❤
Hey Jay and Amber, this song was originally released by The Offspring, when the lead vocalist of the offspring had wrote this song it was in reference to an ex-girlfriend of his who had died in a car crash which he'd driven past and didn't realize that it was her car that was involved in the wreck
Sometimes the greater pain is in surviving. But we have to. The alternative is too horrible to contemplate. Thank you to our Vets, and to those families who have in one way or another faced that pain of sacrifice.
If I heard this song and didn't watch the video.. It's not just about military loss of life and family. It hits me hard. My husband passed away suddenly on 12-2-22. The lyrics fit my life without him perfectly. He was cremated, so I don't leave flower at his grave. But I would If I had buried him. Man what a song. 😢
Army veteran 1978 to 1990. Wife loves this band and turned me on to them. First band I've ever known to understand the ramifications of wearing the uniform. PTSD sucks. But, I'd do it all over again if I could. Too dang old now. Their song "Wrong Side of Heaven" hits me hard, and this song does, too. Air Cav, Air Assault, Arctic Light! Hooah! P.S. RIP SPC Jerry Clair... I wasn't there and I don't know what to do about it.
Thank you so much for reacting to this band! Wrong Side of Heaven is also extremely powerful as it relates to veterans. If you want songs that are a bit less emotionally taxing from FFDP try the Bleeding and Never Enough.
First time hearing this version, video repurposes the song with a military theme. well done. Definitely listen to the original by The Offspring, written after a personal loss, non-military.
So deep but appreciative of our heroes who will never be forgotten. Bless those families who lost a loved one in these endless wars ❤️ I pray for those who are currently serving in these times of uncertainty. I say an extra prayer for my daughter and son-in-law as they come up on their 12th year in the USAF🙏 ❤️🙏❤️
Five Finger Death Punch always supports our troops. I wish more people would get the message out there . Wrong Side of Heaven by them is an absolutely amazing song. God bless this group for their support of our military
My daughter is a Navy vet, she had to have both of her knees replaced before the age of thirty because of having to walk on iron decks of ships. She was a sonar tech. We raised our 8 year old grand daughter for a year and a half while she was deployed overseas. In the middle of her tour I had open heart surgery twice in one week and my husband had to take on my grand daughter's care. I do agree though, the Offspring's version should be reacted to, it's just as poignant but in a different way.
My great grandpa fought in world war || he was shot jumping off a plane midair he died never made it home to my grandpa who was 4 at the time and great grandma who was 8mnths pregnant with my aunt she remarried his best friend and had 3 more kids but my grandpas dad was the love of her life when she lost him she lost herself yeah she loved my grandpas stepdad but never as deep as his real dad and then my grandpa fought in the navy Vietnam war so I have huge respect for our soldiers i always ask ppl with veterans hats on how they are doing because I was tought to be respectful and it can make their day. Also thank you so much for this reaction I love Ivan moody the lead singer from five finger death punch his awesome there one of my favorite bands some songs I love are Wrong side of heaven, remember everything, wash it all away, I apologize, the tragic truth, brighter side of grey, coming down, my nemesis, the bleeding, and when the seasons change
The emotion of the visual was one thing (and tore me apart), but the music was killer. Because of this channel (and the brave ones that requested this...thanks to all of you), I will be exploring more of Five Finger Death Punch. This was something that I will play again and again, not only for my own musical enjoyment, but to honor those who have lived this story and still struggle from having sacrificed for our freedom. Thanks for being who you are, Jay and Amber. Love this channel.
Not sure if you’ve gone down the rabbit hole of Nickleback. They too have some powerful emotional songs - If Everyone Cared, Lullaby (strong tear jerker warning), If Today Was Your Last Day, When We Stand Together, just to name a few.
Thank you to all our Vets!! Past present and future...Please pray for our men and women that give so much ....and have given everything and please remember to pray for the "quiet ones too", the ones, we don't hear about, unless something goes wrong. Without them America would not be free...Amen !
Jay, Jay, Jay, sweetheart, watch this again with your EYES OPEN. The video tells an important story. You’ll definitely need to if you react to Wrong Side of Heaven and When the Season Change, especially WSoH as there are stats and commentary written on the video.
Thank you for your recognition and appreciation of our veterans, first of all. On this theme, please react to Billy Joel “Goodnight Saigon”; the lyrics really take you inside the soldiers’ world. The official video is concert footage (not album version) and veterans sing in the chorus. Touching.
😢thus is hard. Brings so many tears. My husband was in a humvee when they hit a road side bomb. He didn't die but mentally came back a different person. He has PTSD and termatic brain injury that messed up his emotions. Thank you to all the veterans and families.
Here's a fun suggestion song for you guys. Was new in 1979 and you just can't help but get lost with the urge to dance. The act calls themselves "M" and the song is Pop Muzik.
I have listened to this song for years but never watched the video until now. Yes, the song has deep meanings that prompt great emotions as many have posted. But in regards to this channel, I have to commend J. and A. You two allowed me to re-visit and "react" to it alongside you (for the first, real time). Thanks to the two of you for this channel, thanks for your open mindedness and thank you for your true "REACTIONS"!
I can’t listen to this song without tears. Makes me think about my late husband. This version evokes way more emotion than the original imo Thanks for this reaction ❤
Yes! Finally! I've requested this group a few times. You absolutely need to check out "Wash it Away". It also sends a specific message. To those who have sacrificed so much...my RESPECT AND THANK YOU!
Their best is a cover of Kenny Wayne Shepherd's "Blue On Black". (Which you guys loved.) EXCELLENT version. Another emotional video, which pays tribute to first responders. Kenny, Queen guitarist Brian May, and country singer Brantley Gilbert are all in the video as well. You definitely enjoy that one.
Love this rendition as well as The Offspring's' version. The emotion was so heartfelt and thank you to all the veterans who were drafted as well as those who chose to serve in all branches of the military. I have family that served as well and I really appreciate their sacrifice. A great military film to react to would be We Were Soldiers with Mel Gibson, it dealt with the war in Vietnam.
I grew up in a military family, and I have a long line of military vets and current active duty family. I've always loved this group and song, but I had never seen the video until now. It brought tears from the get-go. Thanks to all our military men and women for their service, and thank you two so much for this reaction. ✌💙✌
My father served during Korea and in Vietnam. His tour in Vietnam was after I was born but before my sister was born. When she was in high school she gave a report on our dad’s service in Vietnam and while presenting the report it dawned on her that Dad could have been killed before she was even conceived. Her teacher realized how meaningful it was to her and let our Mom know.
As an Airman, I can attest the brotherhood is real. All the branches like to mess with each other but in reality, all branches make up an impenetrable force. So even though we like to poke fun with each other, we all respect each other and know that every branch plays a vital role in keeping our country safe
Thank you for your support and conveying how ALL of us are in the fight, whether you are serving, volunteering, family member, friend, taxpayer, voter...we all own these wars and other combat or peacekeeping missions. From a retired Army Veteran and DAV Chapter Commander.
"Wring Side of Heaven" and this... I really struggle to watch but I do... to remember all my brothers and sisters who aren't lucky enough to be sitting here, watching videos on RUclips and, well.... living. Thank you for reacting to this.
Was brought here from the latest Offspring reaction. I've never heard this cover of the song, and I have to admit - WOW! This version is actually kind of amazing!!
Originally 'Gone Away' is a song by the American punk rock band The Offspring. This is a good version too. You should listen to the original version of the Offspring
The easiest way I can explain it is you remember everything. When you lose a buddy down range you remember everything about that op. Time of day, whether it was hot or cold, the smell of the gunpowder, the triage steps you went through to try to save their life, how fast and hard your heart was beating all the way through this event... everything. It never goes away and neither does the guilt for not being able to save the buddy's life. I know this is the way it is for me. Lead Singers name is Ivan Moody Lead guitarists (at the time of this song) Jason Hook No member of the band is a veteran. Zoltan Bathory (rhythm guitar) does train troops as a civilian instructor in Ju Jitsu. The band does support veteran causes
The men and women of our military are who I consider Hero's, Brave,Honorable and deserving of my respect and admiration for keeping us and our country safe.
Such a powerful song. Being a Air Force vet, I totally get it, thanks for getting it too. Female Friday's, go way back, Ette James, At Last, you'll cry.
The guys from this band are way cool. They were hanging out on our base in Germany before their concert in Luxembourg. One of the guys I worked with went over to talk to them and ended up giving them a tour of our training facility.
Wrong Side of Heaven is another great song by this band, dealing with the aftermath of these warriors returning and trying to reintegrate into normal life out of the military. Also, a while back, you did a reaction to Blue On Black by Kenny Wayne Shepherd. Five Finger Death Punch did a remarkable cover of this song with Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Brantley Gilbert, and Brian May (of Queen). Well worth a listen.
My father had to do those notice of deaths....Now my dad did 3 tours of combat in Vietnam and those visits hit him as hard as combat..He would break down and cry when he got home..I was 3 years old and remember that.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE TO OUR US & FREEDOMS🫡🫡 I just lost a cousin who enlisted & was in training to become an army ranger. They were training on Mt Yonah last Aug in bad weather when a tree fell killing my cousin, one other & injured 3. I'm truly sorry for the pain any of you soldiers are feeling bc of KIA's. Please seel help if you feel it's too much & hang in there. Many blessings to y'all from Georgia.🙏🏼💞🫡 Thnx Amber & J for ur reactions to this awesome track. 😊❣️☮️
@@bjdefilippo447 It truly is. He was an only son. He was doing so well & had moved up in rank swiftly. He loved & strongly believed in what he was doing & his path in life. God had other plans & needed him for bigger & better things. Can't fight mother nature nor the power of our Lord & Savior. He left this world while doing what he enjoyed. So that's something we hold dearly along with true faith. Thank you very much.
I had two instances when my husband was in Iraq where I got late night knocks on my door. I can’t explain the sense of fear and the thoughts that rush through your mind. Thankfully both knocks were for less than significant reasons and my retired Marine is still by my side.

Much prefer The Offspring's original. The video here is undoubtedly powerful, but Dexter's voice sounds more emotive.
Offspring’s acoustic version of this song is so much better imho
I was going to make this comment, Dexter's vocals on this are unsurpassed. I do enjoy listening to Five Finger Death Punch, I would not have picked a cover as a way to introduce them. In context, this is a good cover.

As others have said here “wrong side of heaven” is a must by this band.
Offspring live when this song is perfomed solely on the piano is the most powerful version of this song. Had me in tears in concert
Jay please open your eyes and watch the video , you will receive more of the contents, no disrespect
Wrong Side Of Heaven is another awesome FFDP song you guys should check out.
Yes most definitely do wrong side of heaven.....the video is deep deep.
Not sure if you’ve gone down the rabbit hole of Nickleback. They too have some powerful emotional songs - If Everyone Cared, Lullaby (strong tear jerker warning), If Today Was Your Last Day, When We Stand Together, just to name a few.
So glad I came here today never knew 5 finger death punch did this cover. I love the offspring and this band 😊.
Thank you to all our Vets!! Past present and future...Please pray for our men and women that give so much ....and have given everything and please remember to pray for the "quiet ones too", the ones, we don't hear about, unless something goes wrong. Without them America would not be free...Amen !
Their cover of Kenny Wayne Shepherd 's "Blue on Black" is excellent too. Kenny plays the guitar in that video too.
your eyes was closed 90% of the time you should see the video for it..
thank you for having a heart for my fallen brothers and sisters who served
So sorry to hear about your husband... I know it has to be SO hard on your family... Will you Thank Him for his service for me? Thanks...
@@robertboss8883 yes a day Thank you
68 years of life in the Army. Great video. Thank you two. Have a good day
Here's a fun suggestion song for you guys. Was new in 1979 and you just can't help but get lost with the urge to dance. The act calls themselves "M" and the song is Pop Muzik.
thank you for reacting
i could tell she was feeling that intro
Not a huge fan of this band, but being a disabled vet myself, I love the messages and the love they show to those who served
Now I've been waiting for something like this for a long time!!!👍
Love this video . Song was first done by the band The Offspring . It's a real deep song !
I can’t listen to this song without tears. Makes me think about my late husband. This version evokes way more emotion than the original imo
Thanks for this reaction ❤
Yes!
My favorite 5FDP cover...Brian May is a Guitar God!!
Love this rendition as well as The Offspring's' version. The emotion was so heartfelt and thank you to all the veterans who were drafted as well as those who chose to serve in all branches of the military. I have family that served as well and I really appreciate their sacrifice. A great military film to react to would be We Were Soldiers with Mel Gibson, it dealt with the war in Vietnam.
as a combat vet, i thank you for your honest reaction and kind words. it also helps bring awareness for us vets. so thank you again
I grew up in a military family, and I have a long line of military vets and current active duty family. I've always loved this group and song, but I had never seen the video until now. It brought tears from the get-go. Thanks to all our military men and women for their service, and thank you two so much for this reaction. ✌💙✌
Five finger death punch song wrong side of heaven
One of my favorite groups with a great message along with awesome music. Wrong side of heaven a must listen and watch. Tear jerker. Keep livin!!!
The Offspring original version is 10 times better. Not comparing the war theme, just the song.
Rob, you should watch the video. You missed the most important part
Nah bruh he missed the whole vid
The easiest way I can explain it is you remember everything. When you lose a buddy down range you remember everything about that op. Time of day, whether it was hot or cold, the smell of the gunpowder, the triage steps you went through to try to save their life, how fast and hard your heart was beating all the way through this event... everything. It never goes away and neither does the guilt for not being able to save the buddy's life. I know this is the way it is for me.
Lead Singers name is Ivan Moody
Lead guitarists (at the time of this song) Jason Hook
No member of the band is a veteran. Zoltan Bathory (rhythm guitar) does train troops as a civilian instructor in Ju Jitsu. The band does support veteran causes
THANK YOU ALL. who serve or have served. Thoughts ,respect, prayers for the ones who gave all
This is a cover of The Offsprings song. You should check out the original.
To all the brothers and sisters in arms. Thank you. Stay safe. Thank you for reacting to this.
I'm so sorry for your loss. It's always tragic to lose a young life, and so unexpectedly.
