- PlayStation 3 is still going strong in 2024! We had a weird stint where some Ubisoft games came back online officially, but then they went down last month. So that was weird. BUT! We have a ton of Call of Duty games to look at, GTA IV of course, Bioshock 2, Lost Planet, and a ton of new private server games! There's so much development going on, and some of these games are now coming back either feature complete, or even better than they were before. It's a beautiful thing, the love for that PS Triple is strong. And I'm here to deliver it.

Many won't know this but Metal Gear Online may have had one of the first shooter battle royales in gaming with a game mode called Stealth Deatchmatch (SDM). It has the shrinking circle that damages health if outside and with a MGS twist. The game was so ahead for its time in many ways.

It's so crazy to think that the Wii, Xbox 360, and even Wii U/3DS stores have already closed, but the PS3 not only continues to have an active store but also has a very active Online community.
This is simply astonishing for an 18 year old console, I really hope this continues for many years to come.
PS3 had one of the best UI's, the way it separated and organized all your media, gaming content, trophies everything was so seamless. I don't know if we'll ever get another XMB style ui from playstation again.
If it had cross game party chat it would’ve been the best console ever, but that’s too good to be true. Especially in the current gaming era . Pay to play/ pay to win is a norm now
Facts, and it was also surprisingly easy to get pirated movies downloaded on there.
For that matter, the XMB menu also made the PSP really cool to store media on as well. If only that console had proper PSN support, with party chat and such...
the ui is what I souly hated lol the colors the noise everything but it didn't make it worse of better was just my opinion. I miss the days of people that played for fun not for views or trying to make a day job of it youtube was a hobby and you didn't care what people said gamer words were just a thing and people loved and hated you now it's all hate or questioning why a person is being nice to you online has some sort of negative thing coming with it

I’m startin to see major nostalgia and retro content for the ps3 surface with it almost turning 20 years old. It’s crazy that the ps3 is a retro console now and to see the nostalgia kick in.
It’s retro but plays like modern console somehow. Some games is slow and use old game engines but overall it’s pretty strong still
Wouldn't consider it fully retro yet as it plays HD. The previous console's main display output was composite and were commonly used with CRT televisions, which makes them retro in my opinion. So I would say its on the verge of being retro.

@@Solidus155The DualShock3 is the only thing that doesn’t feel modern. It feels so small after play with the PS4 and PS5 controllers. It doesn’t help that my controllers I’ve had basically as long as I’ve had the console, which is about 15 or so years now. The newer controllers do work with the PS3 though, so that’s handy.
It really depends on the game you’re playing, like if you go beyond 2010, it feels super old. playing the ps3 version of gta 5 doesn’t tho.

I need to I often go back to my bc ps3 and play def jam and the old gtas I need to get my ps3 library back up I get bored playing my ps5 often
That was my last gaming console. I lost interest in gaming so I never got the ps4. I still have it and will never get rid of it.

There is some guy from japan playing journey from time to time. He helped my get my platinum and showed me lots of cool tricks and movement boosts. I think he was called albatross or something. It was awesome!

The PS3 is by far the best console Sony ever made and its not even close. No need to download game discs to play, watch all your movies and anime from your usb without any issue and free multiplayer. It doesn't get better. than that.
Not to mention the internet browser was surprisingly good, and you had PS1 retrocompatibility (and some had PS2 as well)
Only thing i didn't like was the lack of party chat(which i thought was a big deal) and worse ports. Other than that PS5 isn't even close to PS2 and 3
@@ross3695_basedhax Most games had it incorporated anyways, but for the actual app in the system, the RAM limitations got in the way more often that not. One of the reasons people say 360 was best, even its pretty much dead and abandoned these days, unlike ps3 tho
PS2 and PS4 have a way better catalog of games. PS3, with today standards, feels like an arcaic PS4 at this point.
I mean, I love PS3 and I still play on mine from time to time, but it wasn't as good, even for Sony. It was hell to program, and most exclusives were average or lower.
Er, I don't know. I say ps2 is still better and ps4 second. Ps3 has some nice games, and yeah free online is nice. But damn, sure has more fps problems then the 360.

I hop on my Jailbroken PS3 every now and then but mostly to play some of my backlog. But when I hop on MW2, BO or WAW MP or Zombies, a sense of nostalgia hits me something fierce.
WaW is pretty awesome on pc with all the modded zombies maps. If you can play WaW or Black Ops 3 on pc you basically have infinite zombies maps. BO1 too but it has less modded maps.

Awesome video as always!! Great to see many games are still being played... I was there on that Tomb Raider saturday session lol... Also I've recently played NFS Rivals and there are still people online, Red Dead Redemption too ofc, pretty active and always fun (specially killing zombies!). Now for Metal Gear Peace Walker the online still works but I haven't seen anyone online, haven't checked much either but I know it works, it's probably a P2P
I wish Naughty Dog bum ass would release the real uncharted 2 with multiplayer. I never stopped playing it. They made it stop :(

Dude it was really cool to see you play MGO2. I’ve only dabbled in SaveMGO but that community is one of the most dedicated I’ve ever seen.
My experience with Journey was amazing. I played late in the PS4 life cycle around 2017 on my PS3 I must of got it on PS+. I had no clue it was multiplayer and the person until we beat it and I got the trophy for completing it with the same person from start to finish. I love to take my time and look at things and they would follow me and stand behind me like an NPC. I was in shock when I saw it.

I tried the same thing just a couple of days ago and i was shocked to see how many people still play the PS3 online. I tried Resident Evil 5 mercenaries and there are is still somebody playing it but i was positively shocked when i saw hundreds of people playing Battlefield 3 Online and the game is still beautiful by the way!
