Just starting the journey. I didn't think mine would come out the same in the end, but your instructions are extremely easy to follow. I can barely believe this series is free.
I love your tutorials! It's helped me alot and so easy to follow along... I love how you explain the concept so we can apply the technique in various drawings! Thanks so much!
Genevieve You are a Goddess! That said this tutorial is really only ideal for Procreate - they should sponsor you like crazy! NOW i can paint my tabby cat!
You are just wonderful! I love your teaching style and you are so generous with the information that you share. I purchased your ultimate watercolour bundle a couple weeks ago and I absolutely love it. As a digital and procreate newbie, I am learning so much from you. Thank you x
I loved this tutorial!! It has helped me take making hair and fur on my characters to the NEXT LEVEL!! plus this technique can be used in multiple cases. great video, and im so glad i stumbled upon this channel.
I love this it really helps me break down the process and steps when digitally painting textures! Do you do any live streams or anything? Or perhaps tutorials on creating illustrations from start to finish? I have subscribed and would love to see more of your work! Thankyou!
Hi Sophie! That's awesome :D Sadly, I don't do live streams (...yet?). I have been trying to find a way to make tutorials on creating full illustrations since I think it would be super fun. That being said, I'm not sure of the format (...yet!) It might have to be more like a course because of how much info there would be to cover!
I would love to see how you draw the bunny… I struggle when I’m left alone to draw an animal with different lengths of fur and colors 🙈😅. I love your tutorials, you make them so well 🙏🏼😍❤️. Thank you!
I want to watch you do the bunny with this technique if that's ok. The week 1 fur only shows this video. But I want to watch how they do the animal too.
Thank you for your tutorials, Genevieve! I really love them. Could you please also make a tutorial how to render a furry (sort of like a mix of sheep and cat fur, if you understand )) ) puff chair? I've been trying it hard but it's just not coming to me(((.
Hi, love your tutorials. I have a small doubt though. Can you please share what colour setting do you have for your canvas because I’ve used your colour Palette but my colours look different. I want to try it with the colours as you did. Please help. Thanks :)
Lol that scared me when you added the shadows! It’s a shame you’re only going to keep these challenges up for a short while. I take forever to do these. I just found these videos and absolutely love the idea I am trying to learn how to draw using procreate. You probably have said somewhere but what screen protector do you use?
I'm thinking of making this a yearly challenge 😊 As for my screen protector, it's a basic off brand one: 3rd gen - amzn.to/32ShIw8 | 4th gen: amzn.to/3vzl4Rl
Hi Genevieve! Can I ask why you used purple and yellow for the shadows and highlights? Do you use this for all of your art or is it just in this colour palette specifically? Thanks :)
This is such a GREAT question! The main thing to keep in mind is that natural lights and shadows are never pure white, black, or grey. The sun is more yellow/orange, some tungsten lights are bright white, etc. I've found that keeping this in mind has completely changed the way I color. Playing with the hues of lights and shadows is a very easy thing to do, but it makes a world of difference. Now, do I use yellow and purple all the time? Not at all! In general, I would recommend using warmer lights (yellow, orange, red) and cooler shadows (blue, green, purple) because that's what our brain most commonly associate as normal and thus make it easier to draw (it would be harder and a bit weird to draw purple lights and yellow shadows, although that's not impossible). Yellow lights are super common and natural, which works well with the conditions in which you would usually find fur, so this one was a no-brainer. Shadows are a bit more complicated. I usually go for a color that matches the environment of the illustration. Since the background was gray, I went with purple, which is the complementary color of yellow. That way, I was sure they would look good together. Hope this was helpful and sorry for the novel! haha :)
@@GenevievesDesignStudio Thank you for the really detailed response! I'm guilty of just using white/cream and black/grey for shadow and highlights, I'd never considered the natural environment and lights (self taught artist, never took art past high school). So thank you!! That makes total sense and is definitely something I will now consider more when it comes to my art!
I totally get that! I'm self-taught too and honestly, understanding this concept is probably what helped me improve my art the most. Let me know how it goes :)
I can’t download the palette When I download the swatches files there is something like zip file then when i top on the file it’s will be open and there is long text not anything els:) and I can’t even open it in procreate
There will be tutorials next month, but not a challenge. However, the schedule for this #30daysofdigitalart will stay up until the end of the year, so you can definitely still do it next month! :)
I also tried to use Dry ink brush for circle base but cannot fill in color inside circle, the color was filled in whole layer. Could you please advise me have any solution on this?
Hey there! Few things that might help: 1. Make sure that your shape is fully closed 2. When dropping your color, adjust the threshold my dragging your pencil towards the left/right before lifting it up Let me know if this works :)
Hi Erin :) There really isn't one size that is 'best' as it depends on a bunch of factors from your iPad's RAM to specifics about your project. If you're drawing just for fun, I usually recommend at least 2000px x 2000px so that you have enough wiggle room to zoom in.
