I think Credo and the other Angelos from DMC4 are some of the most cleverly designed enemies in all of video games. They look superficially like angels, but upon closer inspection you can see they have demonic faces and disguised cloven feet, their feathers are fake, and the halos are just deformed horns.
Every original DMC game has at least one demon with an angelic appearance: Mundus's statue form in the first game, Lucia's devil trigger in the second (sorta), the Fallen enemies in the third and of course the Angelos in four.
Credo applies the best for this and the beauty of that is, it's because his outward look mirrors his belief of becoming an angel, or being a force of good. Then, you got Agnus and Sanctus, the latter of whom cares none for that and both have no qualms about their appearance, but of the two, I do like Agnus's appearance. Scientist angel bug. He's a great foil, he's just underdeveloped like most of the cast and the only hints of what he could've been, were with Dante's play of Hamlet.
It's rather telling that Credo does look legitimately angelic despite what is very obviously demon energy pumped into his body. It makes for a contrast to Sanctus (blood red eyes, horns growing out of his back) and Agnus (classic demon horns on his head, constant hunching forward). This likely reflects how he's the only senior member of the Order who isn't a world-conquering megalomaniac, genuinely believes his church is still benevolent, and is only fighting Nero because the latter was framed. He's no goody-two-shoes, he has MASSIVE hangups about Nero even before the frame-up, but even then it's rather telling that he threatens Nero with arrest rather than death
He was the perfect foil to Nero, like Dante and Virgil, which is most definitely what the creators were going for. Credo and Nero even have a brother-like relationship having grown up in the same orphanage together. And like Dante and Virgil, they put family above anything else.

"No Credo, what you've become is a demon!" This fight was really awesome. I wish they'd fleshed out the Nero/Credo rivalry a bit more but nevertheless this fight was still my favourite in the game.
Nero and credo were never rivals Nero looked up to him because of how kind he was to know and treated him as if he was his brother the only reason Nero was part of the order of the sword was because of credo and kyrie
Tbh they weren't rivals and had a good relationship, which I suppose wouldn't be 'as cool' as a rivalry on-screen, so they just sort of made their interactions minimal. TyronMakeka An angel? Just the opposite actually! Anyone else notice how everything Vergil says is epic, I wonder if his parents noticed that as a child, Vegetables... foolishness!
A cool detail too with Credo is how over the course of the fight his mannerisms change. At first he’s proper and appears in control and has an air of authority. Then a bit into the fight he gets a bit more annoyed with Nero, and his animations are a bit less composed. By about 1/4th of his health left (maybe a bit more on DMD) he’s completely disheveled, his walk has gone from this high and mighty ‘I’m your captain’ style to just kind of angrily pulling himself towards you, his shoulders are constantly fidgeting, he holds his sword and shield down more, and even his voice lines are clearly more tired and pissed off. It’s a great bit of extra characterization.
I loved it too so much, it reminded me of Vergil in dmc3 in the final battle when he was getting more pissed, turning in devil trigger, descending his madness upon Dante by spamming judgement cut everywhere on the map screaming for his Death ("YOU'RE GOING DOWN, BLAST, BEGONE") 😂😂

Over years of playing this game, i have noticed little things about this boss battle that make it a tribute to Vergil 1 from DMC 3, the setting, the spiral swords, hell even the voice actor, and just like Vergil 1 this is the best boss battle in its game.
I always loved how he was frustrated during the entire fight. Meanwhile I’m having the time of my life in the only good humanoid boss-fight besides Dante.
Sephiroth decimates, the only characters that have feats to actually fight against him are The Despair Embodied/Argosax, Mundus, either Sparda twin with Sparda(Sword) or dmc2 Dante who was hinted to have surpassed his father Mundus has shown feats that could be taken either as creating pocket dimensions or an entire universe(Pocket dimensions being more likely) in which he has created starts which puts him around the level of Sephiroth after his defeat as Safer Sephiroth, Argosax was so strong that Sparda needed help from the Matier clan to seal him, the last 3 are self explanatory
+sergiocast345 Well it makes sense doesn't it? Fun facts: Ultra violet was the Theme for Nero Angelo (nelo is a typo) A.K.A Vergil. You'll find that Bianco Angelo sounds even more similar to it as well. And in this, you're fighting Angelo Credo. The Angelos in DMC4 are literally created from "fragments" of Nero Angelo. As such, the music style itself is a reference that links all the way back to Sparda, because the composer noted that Ultra violet was deliberately made to be similar to the Sparda battle theme in DMC1 to allude to the fact that Nero Angelo bears the blood of Sparda.
This song feels like such a perfect mix of Nero's punk/rock energy and Credo's holy/angelic energy. It feels like a back in forth in the song which is the best duel tracks to me. Combining aspects of both characters in an interesting way.
I always thought of this as a look back to Nelo Angelo's boss fights (primarily the 3rd one) in the original DMC Capcom really took what made Nelo Angelo so Integral to the character of Dante and ported it so damn well into Nero's storyline. Capcom is really consistent when it comes to "Battle your loved ones" in their games.
You know, when it first came out back in 2008, I always thought it would have been cool to play as a character that possesses the enemies in DMC4 and using combos with them. It may be contrary to the style of DMC, but I like the more strategy aspect of moving from enemy to enemy since the enemies and bosses all seem to have cool moves and how hectic and fun it would be with DMC's type of combat. Remember how fun it was to play as Ganon in Ganon's fury in HW? Or playing as the Blue Mage in FF having all the monsters moves? How about taking direct control of your units in War for the Overworld? I want that for DMC!
I love this boss! You couldn't use the standard "grapple-and-tank" tactics that you used on the other bosses, you actually had to watch for the tiny clues as to his patterns (and oh were they tiny!) and dodge accordingly!

Credo was always one of my favorite boss battles. He is not to hard but he is not easy either. He has the perfect dificulty level. Dante is still my favorite boss in DMC 4 but you all get my point. To be honest Vergil is the best.
Dante was too aggressive, sure he retreated to taunt you and acted like another player, but he never really gave you any room to combo. But Credo. He had super armour and his attacks were easy to dodge, plus he guarded as well, making the whole thing drag out more *plus* he actually clashes with you a lot more, nothing felt bland fighting him! In fact when I fought him, we'd always ended up walking in circles while he delivered some dialogue. I wish we had the ability to replay boss fights without going through the levels again.
credo was such an amazing character, fighting him in bloody palace as dante is AWESOME!!! I love how his sword leaves giant slash marks across the ground, too bad more bosses aren't like him.
Nobody is talking about how the reason why this song is a remix of Nelo Angelo's theme: because his name is Nelo ANGELo. It was foreshadowing to angels the entire time... Also "Nelo" being VERY close to "Nero" is also a hugely convenient coincidence...
I thought that too. Turns out Dan Southworth only did his Motion capture. The voice is done by TJ Rotolo. Seriously. Just do a comparison. You'll find that Credo sounds EXACTLY like Frank West.
+Haseo v2 It's because it had way more bosses and more interesting characters and enemies. Sure you had to fight Vergil 3 times, but he used different tactics and moves each fight. In the Special Edition they added Jester as a boss. They didn't do anything like that with DMC4SE... :(
Nah dude DMC4SE was cool. Maybe they didn't add any new bosses but hell...You get to play with Vergil,Trish and Mary ( Lady ) What's better than that?Player that are still playing this game to do new combos etc. including me were goddamn happy for this new feature
Haseo v2 True, and I still play it a lot. But it could've been so much more than just a few new characters. And they don't give Mary or Trish any story or character development and, even though I love her, Trish is just a mashup of Dante and Vergil's moves but a lot worse.
You know, besides the fact that the developers should've added more content in ways of story, stages and bosses to the extra characters to compliment them, it would have been nice if the developers upgraded old characters like Dante and Nero with new abilities and weapons. I would imagine Nero being able to do more moves with his buster, as well as the ability to summon astral projections of bosses in DT like Credo here much like how Bayonetta does. Imagine doing Credo's main combo with him in DT. Dante would probably have more styles and weapons.
I like how the Angelo enemies have a sort of DMC1 vibe with their music, Hell Bianco Angelo’s theme even has a remix of Ultra Violet in it at one point.

I'd always hit him mid-sentence so he'd say "Out of my- BWAH!"
"Behold the power of an ANGEL!!" - Credo
"You will not forget this Demon's Power!!" - Vergil
Seriously, why does every badass anti-hero in these games have to be obsessed with power and mythical stuff.
1:23 best part for sure. i remember when i heard this in game yo its too godly
I need 1 hour version
+
it is godly for sure
The part at 1:40 was hype as fck when I first played it a year ago when I was like 17, credo had the best boss fight and theme in all of dmc4.
If this was Credo's reaction to Nero betraying the Order, what would his reaction be to Kyrie becoming pregnant with Nero's child
She will become a widow.
@@dmytrotyshkevych5277
Are you sure about that?
Would Credo actually manage to make that happen?

Over years of playing this game, i have noticed little things about this boss battle that make it a tribute to Vergil 1 from DMC 3, the setting, the spiral swords, hell even the voice actor, and just like Vergil 1 this is the best boss battle in its game.
As Captain of the Holy Knights, you are now under arrest. It is the wish of his Holiness!
Kezajaws I want Credo unlockable so badly.
gunswordfist THE BEST IDEA EVER HOLY
+AlintheBAWS73 bruh Nah.Kyrie unlockable is better.Singing the shit out of demons XD
SatsuiMaster Keep the ideas coming! xD
AlintheBAWS73 bruh Hm...
WHY NOT PLAYABLE SANCTUS?
*All the Powers of an Angel* !
I love that line so much.
He's having such a powertrip
I heard someone say that Credo's Halo are actually horns and a decade and a half, I finally see it in the pic!
Nero "Come on!"
Credo "Ive covered wars you know..."
Nice
I love it when bosses taunt as well. Credo just throwing his wing over his shoulder with a flourish while walking is great.
"Do NOT underestimate me!!"
"I won't suffer defeat!"
+Mega Pulsar Behold the power of an angel!
NO!!!! IM NOT FINIIIIIISHED!!!!
As intimidating as it sounds, i guess i'll pass.. 😂
I always loved how he was frustrated during the entire fight.
Meanwhile I’m having the time of my life in the only good humanoid boss-fight besides Dante.
Sephiroth vs Credo. Battle of the One-Winged Angels
Haha
genesis & angeal too
Seems like a fair fight No pun intended Haru Yoshida
+Pablo Delgado Credo has two wings, he just uses one as a shield, like the badass that he is.
Sephiroth decimates, the only characters that have feats to actually fight against him are The Despair Embodied/Argosax, Mundus, either Sparda twin with Sparda(Sword) or dmc2 Dante who was hinted to have surpassed his father
Mundus has shown feats that could be taken either as creating pocket dimensions or an entire universe(Pocket dimensions being more likely) in which he has created starts which puts him around the level of Sephiroth after his defeat as Safer Sephiroth, Argosax was so strong that Sparda needed help from the Matier clan to seal him, the last 3 are self explanatory
His design it's so cool.
DMC Is back baby.
The music is very similar to ultra violet from DMC 1
+sergiocast345 Well it makes sense doesn't it?
Fun facts:
Ultra violet was the Theme for Nero Angelo (nelo is a typo) A.K.A Vergil.
Darkseany Interesting
the fights are similar too. both are one on one sword fights and both are the most memorable boss fights in the games. well in my opinion anyway
Always fun beating him on Bloody Palace.
Also Credo uses a modified version of Summoned Swords depending on the Game mode you are currently playing
i like how the start is so epic and angelic but then slowly turns into a faster and techno version, it actually reminds me to nelo angelo theme
This song feels like such a perfect mix of Nero's punk/rock energy and Credo's holy/angelic energy. It feels like a back in forth in the song which is the best duel tracks to me. Combining aspects of both characters in an interesting way.
it feels like theyre going back and forth, as if they're both fighting eachother in a way.
Easily the best fight in the game
Twon Games no dante is
The Act Man that's a fair argument.
@Gold Star Gaming you suck
@Gold Star Gaming if you find him annoying you probably died a lot and raged at him
Fighting Credo was one of the most epic boss battles in DMC history...especially when you fight him as Dante in Bloody Palace!!
One of the best tracks in the game, because it reminds me of DMC1
May you Rest In Peace Credo. I never hated you.
Happy 20th Year Anniversary !
Devil May Cry 🎂

Should DMC 6 come out, and it has something to do with genuine angels, Credo needs to return as one working alongside Nero
He died tho...

1:22 was always my favorite section of the song and I'm not quite sure why... it's a nice little down time before the loop kicks back around.
I always thought of this as a look back to Nelo Angelo's boss fights (primarily the 3rd one) in the original DMC
Capcom really took what made Nelo Angelo so Integral to the character of Dante and ported it so damn well into Nero's storyline.
Capcom is really consistent when it comes to "Battle your loved ones" in their games.
Small part of me was hoping for a Nero/Credo "Jackpot" scene. lol..
That would have been amazing
They can't have this. The "Jackpot" scene belongs to a son of Sparda
@@JongleurBt1 well Nero is the grandson of Sparda, think we can put in a few more moments with him
I wish Credo didn’t have to die
"BEHOLD, THE POWER OF AN *ANGEL!*"
Legitimately one of the best bosses in the franchise.
BEHOLD THE POWER OF AN ANGEL
FOOLISHNESS, MACHINE. FOOLISHNESS.
credo's fight was hands down THE best fight in this game. i don't think i've ever enjoyed a boss fight so much in my life.
Credo: “I have become an Angel”
Nero: “No Credo, you’re just another wartime photographer.”
my favorite boss battle AND theme of this game
One of my favourite boss fights in videogaming.
Just everything you did in the boss fight felt so good . From smashing his shield to tossing back his spears and grabing him!
My favourite boss fight in DMC4
It will be fun to fight this guy as Vergil..
Now I'm motivated!
+TheDeadManZone12349 Vergil: "An Angel? Foolishness Credo... foolishness."
- Original idea by *+TyronMakeka*.
+Zyxeal Elni Well... You can now!
"it will be fun fighting the a one-winged angel. if my son did it, i should be able to do it, too"
Easily the best boss fight of the game. So many cool little details to this fight.
Hmm... makes me think of playing as Paxton Fettel from F.E.A.R. 3. Twould be very interesting in a DMC game.
Prophetic, in a way.
I love this boss! You couldn't use the standard "grapple-and-tank" tactics that you used on the other bosses, you actually had to watch for the tiny clues as to his patterns (and oh were they tiny!) and dodge accordingly!
I love the character designs of this game. They make angels look like demons! Freakin amazing.
By far, best boss theme of DMC 4

Best boss in the series btw
Also I always thought his design was oddly attractive in a way LOL
one of my favorite fights R.I.P Credo
Credo was always one of my favorite boss battles. He is not to hard but he is not easy either. He has the perfect dificulty level. Dante is still my favorite boss in DMC 4 but you all get my point. To be honest Vergil is the best.
This man has literally my favorite character design in all of fiction
Fun fact Credo has the same voice actor as Frank West and Dan Southworth did the mocap for him.
All the power of an angel.
I love 1:21 Also, this part of the music seems to be were I usually get Credo hurt enough for a Buster move.
When your girlfriend's older brother tells you he wants to talk to you seriously:
That's really gay dude
Your girlfriend's brother can transform into an Fallen Angel?!?
credo was such an amazing character, fighting him in bloody palace as dante is AWESOME!!!
I love how his sword leaves giant slash marks across the ground, too bad more bosses aren't like him.
Ifrc. This song plays during the red alert quest if you have sword and shield equipped on Mhw. Which is a fun touch
Credo : ''You're under arrest''
Nero : ''Fuck the Police''
*Thug Life*
actually I never thought that I had to fight credo... I was surprised then.
+Marluxiaaaa XXXDDDD Same here.
My favorite fight in DMC 4 ;-; I miss him.
Nobody is talking about how the reason why this song is a remix of Nelo Angelo's theme: because his name is Nelo ANGELo. It was foreshadowing to angels the entire time... Also "Nelo" being VERY close to "Nero" is also a hugely convenient coincidence...
Best track of DMC4 for me, this track is simply amazing in every way and you can feel the flow of the battle even without playing the game!
I thought that too. Turns out Dan Southworth only did his Motion capture.
The voice is done by TJ Rotolo. Seriously. Just do a comparison. You'll find that Credo sounds EXACTLY like Frank West.
Arguebly one of the best Boss Battle in DMC4 especially if it's in DMD difficulty. 😎👍
@thelombax2002 agreed especially on DMD difficulty.
@ratchet2007no, you're absolutely wrong, it's the infested tanks in dmc2
Credo: Who are you?
Gabriel: I'm you but faster
I consider this boss battle a spiritual successor to the Vergil 1 battle, it's so similar and equally as badass.
why knight like characters have the best themes(nelo angelo, cavaliere angelo and credo)
they got used to it since Nelo Angelo, after that they just couldn't make a bad theme for a knight character (thank God).
Credo is so goddamn cool, such an awesome villain/hero, even with good music. No wonder he's voiced by Vergil's VA :D
GabeCastro he is not a villain
He's voiced by Frank West's VA. not Vergil's
@thelombax2002 the guy from dead rising
@thelombax2002 dude let show you that
@thelombax2002 you should play some good games
Man I swear I kept wanting to go back to this fight cus of the epicness.
Pretty cool how the only good boss battle in this game is the only one that doesn't get recycled like 3 fucking times.
Such an awesome game..
Too bad we had to fight every boss 3 goddamn times............
Can't agree more.
Graphicwise it's way to godly compared to DMC3 ( Which is understandable tbh) but DMC3 felt way more fun to play for me.
Maybe they didn't add any new bosses but hell...You get to play with Vergil,Trish and Mary ( Lady )
What's better than that?Player that are still playing this game to do new combos etc. including me were goddamn happy for this new feature
Haseo v2
True, and I still play it a lot. But it could've been so much more than just a few new characters. And they don't give Mary or Trish any story or character development and, even though I love her, Trish is just a mashup of Dante and Vergil's moves but a lot worse.
Ironically we only fight Credo once.
Dante would probably have more styles and weapons.
i love this song
My favorite boss in any video game. This fight is so fun :D
I like how the Angelo enemies have a sort of DMC1 vibe with their music, Hell Bianco Angelo’s theme even has a remix of Ultra Violet in it at one point.
Fighting him on DMD is amazing
