Yeah but the game also show that you just need a double barrel revolver a sword with an engine a devil arm and a legendary katana that can cut throught every things and summon the Hell Gate to take this insect down not a big deal.
It's interesting how Agnus' devil form is actually the most similar to the real Sparda's, that being insectoid. It's like he, as a man of science, was the one who best understood what the demons were, while all the others try to emulate Sparda by turning into as angelic holy beings, the way their blind faith in Sparda makes them believe he is. And HIS "grand delusion" was being so obsessed with the demons that he looks down on humans, wheras the people who see Sparda as the savior worship him BECAUSE he fought to protect humans.
I always thought that his transformation reflected his rotten soul. As such he isnt as dignified as Credo or even Sanctus (at the beginning) so he insted of noble bird wings he has insect wings.
Honestly, despite evil shit, Agnus was amazing, and theatre cutscene just skyrocketed his likeabilty points. His design has so much unique points, so damn charismatic. Like his stutter, exremely buff build for a nerd, skin color, the way his personality can shift from a nerd, to a coward, to someone concerned and obedient (with Sanctus), to a truly menacing villain (mostly from voice, but also remember how easily he stopped Nero's swing after Containment Room fight?). Lots of temperament! Big praise to the voice actor, TJ Storm, and I suppose devs took him as a body model too - look at the build of that man damn, Agnus is freaking packin'... Both ugly and hot, lol. Shame he worked for the bad guys, but you can't deny that he was a true genius, and his biggest interest was science. Like pretty much every supernatural thing (and some natural like swords) the Order of the Sword has is the work of Agnus, there's so much INCREDIBLE stuff he's done, and even Nero's sword is his work, how ironic. Or what about Ascension Ceremony for example? What about time-manipulation devices? Hell Gates? All these artificial demons? Freaking laser barriers? It's mindblowing honestly, Agnus is op in terms of scientific intelligence (well to be *completely honest* many of this is for the sake of a varied gameplay, it's simplier to not explain too much and just say "It's all Agnus", but still). Apparently even knight's uniform is designed by him, though no good source? I get why he liked to feel powerful, but doesn't seems like his main goal was to be a ruler of the world or whatever. His death is a shame, he was fun and interesting, but yeah, a villain. I mean dying after providing one of the very best cutcenes in the game, also in such a beautiful way (the note falling on his face, gasping and turning his head slightly, no gore involved as well) - a good deal for him. Credo's death on the other hand (beautiful but meaningless and undeserved)... Well, at least Agnus has a daughter who inherited a lot of his traits (not "evil coward" ones, thankfully). And his music theme is amazing. Annoying boss fight tho, at least it's a good looking and funny spectacle (I mean the way he fights, not the cutscene with Dante :D; the latter is amazing as well, one of the very best in the game and the franchise). Summoner boss concept is interesting but yes, annoying.
I have to say, Agnus is not a coward but he is too smart for his own good and suffered for it. He was made a laughingstock in his corporate and his theories were never taken seriously. People made fun of his stuttering or personality because they cannot be on the same level as he is. This is why he left his family for a quest to prove he is correct. He needed a stage to demonstrate his capabilities and he was never after "power". This was basically his speech in DMC4. It's entirely personal. He basically got inducted in a cult and was used by Sanctus after he lost his job. Agnus could have lead a life with relative comfort with his family and his skills, but he was in pain after all the ridicule and took responsibilities in his own hands. Sometimes you cannot win at life at all even with massive potential and talent. Maybe he left his family knowing the dangers if he made them follow him. At least he has a successor and did not suffer much at his death. Also if he ever trained swordsmanship, combined with his gained demonic powers he would have been absolutely the strongest person in the order. He was never meant to fight.
To comment on the music theme itself more... It's freaking amazing! Very unique sounds, very menacing, you can totally hear "bug aspect" of Agnus in this. I especially love alarm-like (0:36, 0:39) and 1:39 parts.
@@Ctrekoz Also what makes Agnus's experiments worth is the stability of the acsension ritual. While others like Arkham or Arius attempted to bind demonic power to themselves, they usually end up mad, consumed or possessed. Also they did not end up being deformed tentacle blobs so its a scientific marvel.
@@zeppelincraft1443 agree. Also completely autonomus Bianco Angelos who don't even have anyone inside the armor, and even high intelligent ones like Alto Angelo. Could've been "See Dante, that's how you save your brother from demonic thirst".
