It's funny how the entire order of the sword is basically using vergil's leftover power, credo even uses summoned sword techniques just like his with the feathers.
Otoman I feel like that's a reflection of Credo's own convictions, his intentions are pure relative to those of the rest of the order. His name means believe or truth in Latin, can't quite remember. Much like agnus is a bug because he's a slimy piece of shit, Credo is an angel because he's an actor on behalf of what he believes is God's work
The cutscene where the three demons are running at Nero and an Alto comes in and majestically and casually cuts them in half, that was so badass and sick.
If you look back at the first interviews for this game they stated that the reason they decided to bring in Nero is because newcomers might feel intimidated by Dante's complex combat. Nero was used as a way to bridge the gap so they didn't scare off newcomers. They also said at the time when asked if he was related to Dante (due to the white hair) that they designed him like that merely because that was dmc's style. Might have been a ruse but that was their explanation at the time.
Almost a decade later, I know, but it was their intention from the start. Because at the time time, before dmc 4 was released, Dan Southworth (Vergil’s actor) accidentally said it. He introduced Johnny (Nero’s actor) by saying “and this is my son Nero,” before the game was even out. Camera’s never caught it.
Bianco Angelos are artifically created knights who were made using fragments from Nelo Angelo and captured demon souls. That is why they bare a very strong resemblence to Nelo Angelo.
I like how this song gives you that ominous feeling of impending angelic retribution, while managing to be both gothic and badass at the same time... Also gives the Angelos that look of an 'organized force to be reckoned with'.
Favorite ''common'' enemy of the dmc series, these guys were really well tought and made, even their lore is kind of interesting, next is frost from dmc 1 and then the thunder demon from 4, that guy was a pain
I also think the Frost and the Blitz were wonderfully crafted enemies but at the same time I hated their guts because of how many times those fckers killed me. I didn't really struggle with the Angelo's though since it was easy to deal with them by bustering them mid air
For me these guys are hands down the best common enemies on dmc, well made, cool battle and prove a challenge especially in higher difficulties, the other one for me is the ninja demon on dmc reboot, that guy awesome
true, that was one of the most fun fights in the series, specially the boss because it was longer, the regular fight was way too short, but the rest of the enemies were r1+triangle to win so meh
***** Wasn't that the character he should have after Vergil's death and his meeting with Trish ? I mean after a few years that he has set up his DMC business and after having killed lots of demons and having helped quite a lot of people he is confident on what he is doing . He is no longer serious about fighting demons . He just has fun and enjoys the hell out of it . He got so experienced and mastered all of his powers that when he fights an enemy that is full of himself , Dante cant help but smirk and be all cocky and annoying .That is what makes the DMC 4 Dante awesome ( In my opinion :D )
Royal guard took the biggest hit, full Royal Release takes 10 times as long to charge and it deals 1/10th the damage :P They should've put in better enemies that require skill, timing, knowledge of enemy attacks and your own attacks to kill, then they could have kept the style switching without heavily nerfing Dante. What they did? Nerf dante and make enemies weak as crap.. I loved the game, I put in 500+ hours, most of which were spent just having a blast at BP with Dante. But there is potential for so much more. I don't agree about the Devil Bringer, I thought it was neat. Snatching is pretty cool, the buster move is obviously overpowered but I think it can be awesome if they give it more moves and nerf Buster.
You can hear some of the notes from Nelo Angelo's theme, super awesome. They did this with King Cerebus from dmc 5 too, using the beginning part of Cerebus's theme from dmc 3 but then switching it up into its own thing, which shows that its a completdly different enemy with similar/related origins
Actually, if you look at the description of the Bianco Angelos, that is really what it says. They use Vergil's power within Yamato to imbue themselves and their armor with demonic energy. This explains why the Biacno Angelos, Alto Angelos, Angelo Credo, and Angelo Agnus look similar to Nelo Angelo and Sparda. It's hinted, but not confirmed, that they even found Nelo Angelo's body and used him as a model for their armor. This is all explained within the cutscenes and library in the game.
I just read the comment he replied with but he deleted it and like so many he used the "But Dante said its gotta stay in the family" excuse. It amazes me how many people don't pay attention to that scene. The sheer amount of times I've had that thrown at me.
First of all, I just finally got to DMC 4 after years of only playing the first 3, and I feel it is incredibly underrated. These are one of my favorite fucking designs in the series. You take the aesthetics of Nelo Angelo, one of my absolute favorite designs of all time, and apply Gundam (which is bad ASS) aspects to it. Yeah I’m gonna lose my mind for the shit. And THIS THEME GOES TOO HARD. WHY WASN’T IT IN THERE MORE.
I think the white hair makes nero look better, can't imagine him with black hair though. But on another note I LOVE THIS SONG! It's so epic, i love fighting Bianco and Alto angelo just because of this song, when i can skip through fights with Mephisto and Faust, or Assaults, or Frosts, i never skip fights with Bianco and Alto.
How do you know Nero isn't Vergil's son? Sanctus says that Nero is a descendant of Sparda blood, Nero reforges Yamato (The sword of Vergil), Quotes Vergil after retrieving Yamato, At one point he tries to stab Dante in the exact same way Vergil did in the 3rd game and when Nero activates his Devil Trigger a ghostly figure appears behind him that resembles Vergil's Devil form... Also I'm told that the makers of DMC have said that Nero is in fact the son of Vergil...
chunga100 u can swap the background musics with a little trick so u can change the regular music with this one well u can put any music in it just need to convert it to sngw format and slow down a little, i dont know why but if u just convert it the game will play the musics faster than it should be
Go watch the "Story Area" in DMC4. It says the Vergil was dead while he was Nelo Angelo. This means Vergil was some type of Zombie or something in DMC1.
you actually can't affirm that Nero isn't Vergil son, nobody knows yet the truth. And by the way Nero isn't just "borrowing" the Yamato, the game is full of clues making us believe that Nero has AT LEAST some connexion with Vergil, juts look at how he interacts with the sword, look at his devil trigger, his arm,the fact that Sanctus says he has some of Sparda's blood.
It was only til like my Dante Must Die playthrough where I realised those weird mechanical noises were a part of the song and not a noise the Angelos were making.
@IchixRinnegan Not if you look at Mundus' black and white rules. Remember when Griffon and Trish betrayed him? Mundus' rules are if you fail him you are no longer worthy of the life/mercy he gave you. And even though we don't see it, when Vergil "teleported" away it made the exact same sound as the weapon Mundus used to kill Griffon for his failure. Plus DMC1 was never meant to have a sequel so regardless of what the story became Nelo was never originally meant to have survived.
I like this thoery reguarding Nero and his connection to Sparda: When he was still a fetus in his mother, Dante or Vergil happened to be nearby and used their DT, the demonic energy tainting the child within the woman, giving him a portion of the power of sparda.
@TheGodSpawn999 When Vergil fought the 3 dots (Mundus the emperor of the underworld) at the end of DMC3 he lost and instead of killing him Mundus granted him infinite demonic power in exchange for his will. Kind of like the Darth Vader story where his mind becomes lost in the power he is smothered in. Nelo Angelo didn't become Vergil, Vergil became Nelo Angelo. The moment where they "last met" is never told in any of the games.
@Darkrevolver42 actually, its not a mistranslation, it was supposed to be Nero Angelo, which kind of makes sense give how he looks in that game, but the mistake was carried throughout the series anyway.
Everyone makes this mistake, I don't know why. If you watch the scene again Dante actually says "it's gotta stay in the family" as a reason why Nero CAN'T have it. The actual reason he gives him Yamato at the end is purely based on the fact that Dante grew to like him and felt he could trust him with it. People love to take that line out of context.
- Let two Bianco and an Alto Angelo float around for a bit -Wait till they do their giant energy ball attack -bat ball back at them -instant kills and SSS rank -trollface
Nero is not a cardboard clone of Dante he is a throwback to the original Dante just a more extreme version. The Dante that didn't just smartass his way through every fight how one dimentional is that? Dante sucks now I know that he is supposed to be cocky but he is supposed to also have the heart of a human. Hence 'Devil May Cry'
The way I interpreted it was that the church got a hold of Nelo Angelo's (Vergil's) body and somehow grafted one of the hands onto Nero a good while before the story began. Explains why Yamato responds to him so well, and why a devil that resembles Vergil's Devil Trigger pops out when he goes into DT.
no, no and no. the facts are: 1) Nero was able to ressurect yamato. 2) most important fact is that dante said: *it has to stay in the family* and gave it to nero. capcom gave out really huge indications towards nero being son of vergil. but butthurt fans could not just beat it so they were flaming as hell and campom stayed quiet since there was no way for them to fix it now. its maybe even one of reasons why series restarted. (though very minor reason)
@zilve7 All we see is Nelo rise up , blue smoke pours out of him and we hear a crashing/exploding noise and all that is left of him is his part of the Amulet. Considering how cold Mundus is about his servants failing him even if Vergil didn't die Mundus would have finished him off anyway. So I think he was destroyed but theres no way of proving it either way And in DMC1 it said after Sparda rebelled against the demons "he quietly reigned the human world and preserved harmony until his death"

I was talking about how to AVOID quick. And for finishing blitz with dante i recommend also charged shotgun. But my quickest blitz kill is 20 sec with nero. 3 steps - Charge your gun to max and fire. His aura will dissappear immidiately - Give him everything u got with DT - When he turns red charge again to max and fire. he will explode you cant do it easier ;)
I totally agree with you, as a move without much potential and lack of usefulness, it barely serves any purpose other than what you mentioned. What I mentioned I guess can be considered nothing more than a gimmic since the shield isn't as reliable as a defense in higher difficulties in the normal missions. Then in the bloody palace it is unuseful because it inhibits your fighting ability by slowing you down and dwindling your precious time. It's a cool move though, if only you didn't have hold B
In DMC1 Trish states that Dante and Vergil were seperated 20 years ago around their 8th birthday (also around the same time Eva died) so Dante would be at least 28-29 in DMC1. The timeline of the series is 3-1-4-2 so it's impossibe for Dante to be in his mid 20's in 4. :[
@darthkahn45 They never stated nor shown that Nelo Angelo died; he merely vanished/teleported away. For all we know, Vergil can come back as he was before, due to if memory serves me, he was merely under the control of Mundus. So those effects could be gone with his defeat, thus bringing him back as he was in DMC3. Simple, eh?
@InsaneSerialKillerz Yeah apparently black is actually Nero and he was supposed to be called Nero Angelo for the Black Angel but there was an mistranslation issue with the Japanese-English versions. Makes sense as the common stereotype of Japanese English is to pronounce L's as R's Apparently Nelo means nothing in Italian but in Hebrew it means "God is Judge" so chances are it was supposed to be Nero Angelo.
@Jascarell Just to make you rage Sanctus was using Full Sparda Mode...so yeah besides Devil Bringer can Absorb other Devils or their parts besides Vergil is dead no point in comparing both of them
I actually deny it because I liked Nero and don't want him to end up getting posessed or something stupid like that just so Vergil could come back. I thought he brought the struggle factor and vulnerability that was missing from Dante's character in DMC4 where all he did was make jokes. A protagonist needs more that just being a clown, even for someone as good as Dante you need a feeling of acomplishment at the end, like you overcame something at least a little trying.
Actually in the book they said that Nero was actually Vergil's Son but was born after Vergil stayed in hell and fought mundus (unsuccessfully) which explains why his Devil Trigger Avatar looks like Vergil's Devil Form
I agree. When Nero first got Yamato he said "my arm changed that day... a voice echoed in my head-- "More Power". Vergil must have possesed him at that point. Dante more than likely knew this and thats why he let Nero keep Yamato, thinking it possibly help Vergil, The sword means too much to Dante to use as a 'gift' Dante was looking out for his brother, whom Dante really does love.
I rarely think to use the shield, I have always ever used it it slightly elevate the hight of the air buster by holding it for a split second longer. I think if he could run with the shield I would use it a lot more often.
@yuriski1 That not stupid at all your right but nobody is willing to let go of Dante and let Nero take over until the big showdown where Dante's overblown powers will fit a little better.
@CountAbel I think the problem with Dante in DMC 4 is that throughout his adventurers in DMC 1 and 3 he has just become "too" powerfull. So every fight in DMC 4 is like a walk in the park for Dante compared to the challenges he has faced. And because of that Dante's heart isn't really in it. May sound stupid but that's kinda what i think. AND of course the fact that Dante has no real personal reason to do the demon killing in Fortuna.
It's funny how the entire order of the sword is basically using vergil's leftover power, credo even uses summoned sword techniques just like his with the feathers.
+TheBrilliantAndAmazingGamer True story.
But the irony of their soldiers and characters using demonic forms that resembles angels. I love it.
Malcador7 But the only who really seems like an angel is Credo, the others looks... well more like demons jajajaja

Someone beat me to the “friendly banter” line, so I’ll use this one instead
“A demon, it possessed the Order’s armour...”
this is one of my favorites tracks of Devil May Cry 4
I just read the comment he replied with but he deleted it and like so many he used the "But Dante said its gotta stay in the family" excuse.
It amazes me how many people don't pay attention to that scene. The sheer amount of times I've had that thrown at me.
That intro when you first encounter the badass Alto Angelo.
+TheKalZul Bianco angelos are the weaker ones (the blue ones) and Altos are the stronger ones (yellow ones). Don't get mistaken xD!
+SatsuiMaster I am aware. this plays in the cutscene
TheKalZul It also plays in the first encounter of the bianco angelo when you fight it too.
The only reason because i fight the knights it's because their theme is fire
The Bianco Angelo's were made from the essence of "the dark angel", which refers to Nelo Angelo from dmc1.
First of all, I just finally got to DMC 4 after years of only playing the first 3, and I feel it is incredibly underrated. These are one of my favorite fucking designs in the series. @darthkahn45 I think it does mention it in one of the comics that capcom produced for DMC when they last met
I got bored playing as Nero. But when I heard this track during the game. I got hyped.
much appreciated ty
@areumap1 That is not known for sure in the history of DMC in the menu when it gets to the DMC1 part Vergil is described as "Dante's departed brother"
Nero is not a cardboard clone of Dante he is a throwback to the original Dante just a more extreme version. The Dante that didn't just smartass his way through every fight how one dimentional is that? Dante sucks now

Late comment but I like how all angelos' themes (Nelo, Cavalier, Proto, Alto, Blanco, etc.) Is one of the most banger themes that I like
I totally agree with you, as a move without much potential and lack of usefulness, it barely serves any purpose other than what you mentioned. What I mentioned I guess can be considered nothing more than a gimmic since the shield isn't as reliable as a defense in higher difficulties in the normal missions. Then in the bloody palace it is unuseful because it inhibits your fighting ability by slowing you down and dwindling your precious time. It's a cool move though, if only you didn't have hold B
i somehow feel Nero was created in part for fans to speculate over his background, good character
Makes sense as the common stereotype of Japanese English is to pronounce L's as R's
Apparently Nelo means nothing in Italian but in Hebrew it means "God is Judge" so chances are it was supposed to be Nero Angelo.
Angelo themes is the best
Why does it remind me of Nelo Angelo's theme as well
Considering the Order is pretty much using Vergil's power it makes sense.
@Jascarell Just to make you rage
Sanctus was using Full Sparda Mode...so yeah besides Devil Bringer can Absorb other Devils or their parts besides Vergil is dead no point in comparing both of them
"You want a fight? Then c'mon!"
that`s my favorite music in Devil May Cry 4
I actually deny it because I liked Nero and don't want him to end up getting posessed or something stupid like that just so Vergil could come back. I thought he brought the struggle factor and vulnerability that was missing from Dante's character in DMC4 where all he did was make jokes.
A protagonist needs more that just being a clown, even for someone as good as Dante you need a feeling of acomplishment at the end, like you overcame something at least a little trying.
This is my favourite OST in the entire series, besides Vergil 3. *_*
i think the best soundtrack in DMC4
Man, with the Cpt. Bianco Angelo (golden bianco angelo) this made things strategically harder
Look like nelo angelo from dmc1 (ultraviolet)
@yuriski1 That not stupid at all your right but nobody is willing to let go of Dante and let Nero take over until the big showdown where Dante's overblown powers will fit a little better.
@Jascarell And when he went up against Mundus he realised the flaw in his technique and got his ass handed to him by someone much stronger.
