    That was way better than I expected! The 48K certainly has some musical magic in it! 😁

      Yeah, I've heard people do quite good door creaking noises just in BASIC, but this is just *chef's kiss*

    This is absolutely Spectacular, thank you! Detroit’s finest would be proud. And it’s great to see Mrs Snorkers make an appearance.

      Thank you! This emerged a couple of hours ago from Tinpot. I've had the tune downloaded, recorded, and on my MP3 player for a year or two though.
      Hooray for Jim!

    Amazing. Seriously, this sounds truly fantastic. I'll always be more impressed at what extremely limited hardware can manage to pull off rather than what can be done with today's nearly unlimited processing power.

    • @WhatHoSnorkers
      @WhatHoSnorkers  10 месяцев назад +1

      It really does. And this is for a system with one speaker and you can just open and close it rhythmically. And the sound effects are neat too, for explosions, lasers, gunfire...

      I had even more available if I needed them... but it really does sound fantastic. Mind blowing. I quite like the BEEP command, but Jim's not wrong about how it sounds!

    Excellent! It amazes me how a machine running at 4MHz can pull off this.

    • @WhatHoSnorkers
      @WhatHoSnorkers  10 месяцев назад +2

      Yeah! To be fair, it can't do anything else at the time, so you can play the banging tune but you couldn't have a character moving around. But in terms of using your 48K Spectrum to compose and play music, this would have been a gamechanger.
      I use 128K PLAY a lot as I had a +2, but if you had a 48K? It's not that much typing and you get a lot of awesomeness.

      I had some spare characters from Caudillo. I've done a surprising amount of monks over the years... I had to make sure they weren't doing any "bad salutes" though!
      And as the video for Axel F had "man in a trenchcoat", I had my 36 spies to use!

    • @WhatHoSnorkers
      @WhatHoSnorkers  10 месяцев назад

      You are absolutely right. You can't do nowt while it's playing, as there's no sound chip, It's just controlling the speaker.
      It's lovely sound. The little sound effects would be great though, short and sweet!

    • @trailersic
      @trailersic 5 месяцев назад

      @@WhatHoSnorkers You know someone should make an updated Spectrum, just stick a sound chip in it and maybe one up the C64 by making the memory 128k, I'm sure that'll help wonders. Maybe they could even build in a joystick port.

    • @WhatHoSnorkers
      @WhatHoSnorkers  5 месяцев назад

      I like your thinking.... maybe even TWO joystick ports.... and a reset button. Go for sleek 80s styling by making it grey as well.
      I'll get on to Alan Sugar!
      I do find the lack of documentation of the sound chip in the manual frustrating. It tells you how to make it make a noise, but not what the notes are, apart from some baffling statements...
