So after upgrading the drive do you need to install operating system ? Where is the OS stored on this laptop?
i want that battery!
Thanks man
Hi.
could you add a M.2 mini SSD to the empty WWAN slot? they should fit but I don't know if the bios would support a drive in that slot.
It does support it. But why do that? You can put a 4TB NVME drive in the m.2 slot next to the battery.
@@scottdowney4318 it's easier to add a new drive than to clone the one I have installed and replace it. I also like having windows on a dedicated drive.
in dell 5580 Intel Core i7-7820HQ what type of memory will works? 2x16gb 2666 or 3200 ?
The Dell 5580 is i5 intel and DDR4 and take 2400
@@Rory00063 thanks!
Nice video. Curious you didn't upgrade the Wifi card - any though of doing so?
Hi, i no longer have that laptop.
Sir,do you know by any chance if the Lenovo v520 Tower is upgradable /concerning a regular psu and graphics card? Because the one that comes with it its not regular. In the worst case scenario, can the case be switched or the mb is not compatible for that? Thank you in advance. Kind regards ,

The video is interesting but I have a doubt! because the battery is so big if the one with my e5580 is not that big, part of the space goes the hdd ...?
Same for me. It would be interesting to know the code of this big battery, I am going to replace mine.

BUT - someone on Amazon mentioned that if you get that larger battery, you also need the CDM70 battery cable for it. I've ordered the battery and cable and will be testing it out next week.
I just received the CDM70 cable today, and I have no idea what they are talking about. The CDM80 cable I had on my 51Wh battery is a little longer than the CDM70.
The 92Wh battery arrives tomorrow if no storm delays, so I'll update on whether both cables will work with it or not.
UPDATE: I ended up using the CDM70 cable on the 92Wh battery. Since my CDM80 was a bit longer (probably less than 5mm), it was an easier fit, but I PAID for that CDM70, so I stretched it in there! I kept the original CDM80 cable for a 68Wh pack I lucked into, in case I get another 5580 or find a cheap 5590.
It looks like they may actually use slightly different bases on the 5580 for different batteries, though. While it would physically fit the dimensions of the opening L/R/U/D, it DID require slight trimming of the base in 3-4 places. If you have the battery and try to fit it in, you'll see that the large tab on the bottom of the battery (farthest away from memory) is too big to fit, a slight trim of the casing and that fits. Then there are 2-3 nubs on the left hand bottom of the battery, over where the 2.5" drive would normally go, that didn't have notches in the case to match them to. I could have trimmed the nubs on the brand new battery, but didn't want to mod it in case I had to return it. Using a utility knife, I notched the case to fit those nubs. If you look at the other nubs on the 51/68Wh batteries, you can match them up to the case to see square cutouts in the case for them. Cutting matching square cutouts with a utility knife isn't hard, the plastic on the case there is very thin.
That's it for any possible mods. It might be possible that it isn't needed for some 5580s/5590s. Maybe the ones that originally case with 68Wh have the right cutouts. Maybe the seller I bought off of Amazon sourced battery shells that were slightly off from OEM packs. The mods were minor, won't hurt rigidity of the case, and won't stop swapping any of the other packs back in if needed, so it was well worth it to me.
Can we insert ddr3 ram in this PC?
Hi, no.
Thank y
😘😘😘
What's the maximum storage capacity on Dell latitude 5580?
32gn RAM. and a 4TB NVME. 4TB I read on the DELL forum. Some people seem to not get their Samsung NVME to work but using a WDC it worked. May have something to do with RAID vs AHCI setting...Go into the Bios and set to NVME not SSD
Hi, you got any instruction videos for upgrading the processor in this 5580? Thanks for replying
Hi, CPU is soldered onto the motherboard and you can't upgrade.
What kind of SSD can I use?
did u find the information?
good video as always, a query: with 2 E5 2670 v2 + huanan dual I will be able to play all the games in Ultra and in 4k with a gtx 1080 ti? Can I also design and render quickly? It would have 20 cores and 40 threads : D XD
Lol. How's he going to know if he's doing a video on a Dell Latitude? Did you just come here to brag about how you know about the Huanan boards. I mean he's not doing a benchmark on a Huanan boards so how's he gonna know what games it supports or doesn't support?
A question sir, can we both have SSD SATA and M2. disks in this one
Not on the drives next to the battery unless...you dont use standard form factor drives.. You can put NVME and SATA SSD if you get a short mini SATA SSD that physically can fit with battery, SATA SSD and NVME all sitting next to each other. WWAN can take a m.2 SSD short one., like 2230. Saw a post on Reddit where a gut cut a Sandisk sata ssd in half on a bandsaw...apparently a lot of the deisgn is used as a heat sink. Then it fit in his 5580 with NVME next to it. Other idea is use WWAN slot for an m.2 ssd sata drive. I dont know if a short mini NVME drive will work in the WWAN slot. Some person on the DELL forum said it did, and some other guy could not make it work.
What type RAM please.
