    Woke up with this pain in my sternum today. Was kind of alarming but then I remembered I’ve been doing WAY more heavy lifting than usual 🤦‍♂️ it’s a relief to see there are others in the same boat 😅🤦‍♂️

    This is great advice even if you don’t lift. I had a sudden sternum/back injury doing yoga and was getting better the last couple of days. Then today I made a very normal reach that turned out to be a false move and now it’s injured worse, I’m afraid. I was so worried I won’t be able to exercise at all until this heals. But I was hoping if I can find exercises that don’t cause me pain in my sternum, I can continue to do those. Really great video, man!

    You can't do press ups if you have a sternum injury , if you have a sternum injury you have to rest and stop lifting until it heals , then when you start lifting you have to lift light weights and build up over the weeks , Dips are lethal for sternum pain and injury

      Hi Yaozu Li,
      I’ve seen your comments on another video as well (on of Steve Augusts) and I assume that you also deal with costochondritis? I am 2 months in and bought the back pod last week. How is your recovery going? What did you do to recover more than using the back pod for a few weeks? Did you also get pain in chest when doing brisk longer walks? I get that. (6,7,8 km and it starts to hurt). Thankful for an in depth recovery comment from you. This condition sucks, and we all want to help each other to get rid of it and be pain free (: much love // Arvid

    • @yaozuli546
      @yaozuli546 3 года назад +3

      @@arvidschwartz3412 Yes my friend, I totally agree with you that this condition really sucks. I do have costochondritis and I would say that I am like 95% pain free now (I would still have a stuck feeling in my sternum after I sit for a long period of time, but it doesn't really hurt now). The backpod was the major thing that helped me to recover, because it really did help me to open up my rib cage and break free of the collagen. Right now I am using it around 2-3 times per day, 1 time in the morning, 1 time after a fully day of working in front of the computer, and 1 time before I go to sleep.
      Something that I did other than the back pod was the twisting exercise and lat stretching that Dr. August have shown in his video (costo part 2), and Rookie here made a video on those stretching and exercise too, you can go check them out. Keeping your posture is also very important, because it helps to prevent your rib cages from being stuck again. It will be hard for you to always keep a good posture in the beginning, but if you are conscious about it, your brain will adjust and you will be able to keep a good posture without the need to think about it (it would take about a week maybe).
      I haven't really go outside much since the pandemic is so bad, and if brisk walking hurts for you after like 6 km, then you can shrink down the distance so that you are only walking 5 km or less, then you can slowly build it back up to walk for a longer distance. It would definitely take like at least a month for you to recover, but you will see good results after using the back pod. I am like 4 months in and I am still working on it (well I done goof sometimes and I flare it up, and I kind of like didn't use the backpod correctly in the first 2 months since I wasn't really pressing on the rib cage part , it is between your scapula and your thoracic spine, you can go ahead and google an image about scapula to know where you should stretch on). I am working on it to be 100% cure, and I think I will cured soon.
      This video that Bob and Brad post have really helped me, and here is the link ruclips.net/video/1CImipDDRrc/видео.html . And you can also check out Rookie's other video about sternum pain, they are really helpful for me as well. I looked through everywhere for help, and if you haven't yet then you can also comment under Dr. August's video about your situation, and he might give you more information and he will answer your question.
      Good luck my friend, stretch out your rib cage with the backpod, do the twisting and stretching exercises, keep a good posture, reduce the walking distance for now, go check out Rookie, Bob and Brad, and Dr. Steve's video, and you shall be fine.
      Much love,
      - Yaozu

    My answer to you is that I stopped because I had open heart surgery. Now I want to know "When can you start WORKING OUT again?" I am 5 weeks after surgery. Please don't tell me to talk to my doctor. That is not a valid answer. You may say everyone heals differently. i had no pain during the weight lifting session then the chest ache came on after but it may have been aggravated initially from tennis (all the rotation). I had then taken months off of tennis (no weights) but now it is back after playing tennis again and now a few weight lifting sessions. Problem is I don't know what specific exercise is causing the issue other than the tennis. It might be costochondritis - i am going to try a backpod type tool i think there could be dysfunction somewhere so it keeps coming back.
