Noticed they cut their sirens coming up to the intersection to keep from spooking the horse. Something you don't really think about when you don't live in parts of the country with Amish. Great catch!
A barn fire broke out last night near me at about 16:30 hours, beginning as a shed fire before spreading to and destroying the cattle barn. It took about 2 hours to bring the fire under control, and crews remained on scene for about 2-3 more hours to douse all the hot spots. I’m sure that barn’s a total loss.
We need more volunteers. It's a dieing breed allot of depts do not have enough manpower or resources anymore. Back in the day our dept could handle a barn fire alone. Now we have 4 depts and get lucky to have 15 guys. This looks like they activated MABAS
Seeing that interaction takes me back to my middle and high school days at CV. I also ran with 29 for a few years but left before they put that new tanker in service.

I’ve been to Lancaster County before, and I can confirm that it’s mostly open farmland. And the Pennsylvania Railroad museum. I’d move down there if I could.
In Pennsylvania many counties use something called the Opticom system which is a series of IR beacons and receivers mounted to a traffic light. It's very likely that the light was green for the fire truck but red in the opposite direction.
Great video footage. Chauffeurs who drive tankers, have a challenging job. Heavy weight, and the water can destabilize the truck, especially in a curve or turn. Braking distances are increased, as well.
Units responding to barn fire Bereville truck 31, Witmer squad 24-1, Lafayette Volunteer fire department truck 63, Ronks fire rescue engine 4-8-2, rescue 38, Lafayette Volunteer fire department engine 63, Hand in Hand Fire Company engine 4-1-1, Bird-in-hand squad 4-1-1, Farmersville fire company tanker 3-5,
I thought we were about to witness an almighty pile-up between those two rigs at the intersection at the same time! Began to grit my teeth! And I wonder.... do the Amish believe in modern firefighting equipment? Or do they insist on using leather buckets and prayers?
@@JPF941 I beg to differ. The only thing I personally know that the Amish cannot do is operate the apparatus and interior firefighting (requires Air Packs ie: Beards). Hauling hose, throwing ladders, exterior lines, all can and do have Amish members doing them. This may have changed but this is what I know. The only thing I am not sure about is the use of the "Jaws of Life". I hope someone to be corrected if I am incorrect.
@@LCBC6401 Ethan Thanks for the Correction especially the "Jaws of Life". The last time I had a training with any of the Amish was over 20 yrs ago and it was an LDH Opps training.
Probably sounds like a dumb question, but are different colours for different areas, in some regions have seen black engines, thanks for the video, from New Zealand
Too soon to cut siren back on. yes good to cut it off before getting to horse. but kindof cut it back on bit to soon. would have waited at least another 2 seconds. seems like the others dont care
The unmarked vehicle's with the Blue Light's - POLICE? - I can't tell anymore. I am from the Concord/Penacook area here in New Hampshire and ALL of the Fire Vehicle's here including ALL the POVs are all the same color light's - Red, White and Amber and our local Police Vehicle's are ALL Blue Light's, including the unmarked vehicle's too, so you can see why i'm confused.
@@DreadWing7777 here in Lancaster county our police car light colors are red and blue, volunteers once they have reached a interior level, or at our dept it’s called black front, you have the option to put blue lights on your POVs, and ems is white and red, then some fire police lieutenants, and captains have the option to run red lights, and our fire chiefs and deputy chief are able to run red lights with sirens. But in other places I know like Virginia you are not allowed to run blue lights because that is the color light police use, so it really depends on where you live. And also those POVs are NOT police.
In Lancaster county almost all departments have something called an opticom, so when a fire truck is coming it will make it green for the light the fire truck/ ambulance is coming down and red for all of the other lights

That horse was looking at all those fire engines going by saying to himself "That's going to be me one day. Just running to help someone."
@@sigsourr i though maybe because they were coming and needed to hear if there was anyone aproaching at the same time
Yes for sure Great job to the firefighters for not spooking the horse and injuring people #thinredline
@@sigsourrno, they shut them off to not spook the horse. It’s really not advisable to silence your sirens when going through intersections.

2:57 this is why even if you are driving with lights and siren it is a good Idea to slow down and look both was at a red light

very cool videos! Surprised with the Engine at 1:11 rushing through the red light at that speed, don't see that too often in videos from the USA
They have light monitors. It was red all around

I have a question? If two fire equipment come to a intersection at the same time? Who goes first?
It doesn’t really matter who goes first they just have to make sure the other truck knows they are going so there isn’t an accident.
I thought we were about to witness an almighty pile-up between those two rigs at the intersection at the same time! Began to grit my teeth!

as long as they do not touch the equipment the MN community is fine with modern gear.
