Memes about him have been made for years because of it. Those loses were incredibly painful for us, but I still feel bad for the man. At the end of the day he's human.
He thinks too much so he lost his nerves. I believe the hardest part of the game as a striker is holding on to your nerves and that is where Ronaldo outperformed him. He could have been one of the greats if only he had the right mindset of being able to control your emotion . If he failed once, people would've forgiven him, but he dared to fail not only twice but THREE times, and those three times could have changed Argentina's history.
Before even watching the video: I think the real question is "Why does nobody loves Higuain?". A player of his stature can have haters, that´s normal, the weird thing is he not having any diehard fans, or at least visible ones. For reference, he scored over 300 goals in Spain, Italy, England, and for the Argentinian NT.
Well, I loved him when he was at madrid. He's so lethal with raul but I agree with you. He's not technical gifted like messi/cr7. He doesn't have signature skill for striker/attacking player even with his fellow countrymen such as batistuta/maradona/messi/palermo, that's why he never get recognise, appreciate, or praise by a lot of people.

I´m from Argentina, and yes, he does not deserve to be hated, but he is not beloved at all. He is not going to be remembered as one of the greatest strikers of Argentina. Many people hate him saying that we lost Wold cup final 2014 because of him and Palacio. It is true that we expect more from the number 9 of the national team, and he did not rise to the occasion. Argentina loves Caniggia, Batistuta, Kempes, Maradona, Ortega (even with that headbutt to the dutch goalkeeper), Riquelme, Messi. even Leopoldo Jacinto Luque, Houseman as offensive players...Higuain is going to be remembered like the stricker who failed an very easy goal in the World Cup final 2014.

True, but let's not forget he wasnt offside for that goal in 2014 wcf and also was at the end of a ridiculously dangerous neuer challenge later in the game that must have left him concussed. So I wouldn't say he choked in that particular final at all
In fairness, Di Maria was Madrid's best player the season they sold him. Was a nonsense decision from florentino at the time, as bad as selling Makelele when looking at the time. Of course Real did manage to replace him well enough, but he was really so good that season
@the stream ok he had one bad game and was subbed off, happens to the best of players. That season he played as a central midfielder in the 433 but was sold to accommodate James Rodriguez (and we know how that turned out). He absolutely was key for Madrid that season and was man of the match in the champions League final.
@the stream ah ok yeah didn't read the comment properly, fair enough that's a good point. I reckon if Madrid did sell every player who annoyed the fans they wouldn't have a team left to play with tho 😂
Higuain was an incredibly talented guy... He could score wonderful goals but he did succumb to pressure... That's an important aspect missing if u play for title challenging teams inspite of being skilled enough to enter most of the starting line ups... His misses will be criticised but.. That should NEVER OVERSHADOW HIS TALENT... HE DEFINITELY WAS A STRIKER OF WORLD CLASS LEVEL
Only got to see him play in those horror finals and for his short loan at Chelsea. I think he was a world class striker as his movement and striking ability were definitely up there with the very best of strikers. To me he’s Berbatov without the cult following and better numbers too.
Berbatov was so much more skillful on the ball. Plus he offered so much more in the general play. Berbatov was not a limited poacher, those limited poachers would just appear for 3 secs when a shot is needed but doing nothing for the 90 mins, being a liability to the team.
@@thierryhenry674 I can agree that Berbatov was better with the ball at his feet as far as dribbling, link up play but Higuain is no slouch in those regards either. As a pure striker Higuain is better and to say he’s just a limited poacher is really underplaying his striking ability. Again horror finals aside when Higuain is shooting he’s shooting to kill whether that is inside the box or outside. His movement, shooting and touch is A1. If he were more athletic and didn’t choke in finals I think he’d be up there with Lewadowski and Benzema.
@Nupplopolis “Limited poacher” means “pure striker” means he only has striking ability and final third movement, but no other attributes. He once asked how many more goals he has to score. He asked the wrong question. It should be how many less goals he should score in exchange for the general play contribution to the team, in order to not become a liability in those areas.
It’s not just about the goals. Look at Van Persie/Sanchez/Suarez/Firmino/Benzema...It’s about the skill moves. It’s about the close control in crowded area. It’s about the game reading. It’s about the creativity on the ball. It’s about the combination short passing. It’s about the beautiful through passes that cuts through the opponent’s defence. It’s about the flair. It’s about the football intelligence. It’s about the clever movement. It’s about providing numerical advantage in the attack. It’s about offering passing options. It’s about keeping possession/control.....it’s about how amazingly a player can contributed to the team in the build up play/general play for the whole 90 mins...... We don’t want those rubbish limited poachers who only wait for the few chances in a match, and only touch the ball for 1 sec when a chance is arriving, and do nothing for the other 90 mins. Those useless strikers make the team worse off and their team would create less possession/less chances as a whole. Those limited players looks good on stats but they are a cancer for their teams.
As a Juve fan I will never forget that goal he scored against the smaller club from the city of Milan back in 2018. That goal practically sealed our 7th scudetto in a row. He was fantastic in his first season, very good in his second. FORZA PIPITA.
Higuain was lucky to recover from the back injury that kept him out for months in 2010 and 2011 and to reach those high levels again, even though he lost some of his speed and agility. There is little doubt in his ability as a player. He had nearly everything a striker needed: top-class shooting technique, excellent movement, strong enough not to get bullied by defenders, hard-working, very technically-competent (if you've watched his Napoli/Juve days you already know that). His biggest downfall as a player was his inability to control his emotions, he experiences games intensely and sometimes it's too much.
Loved him since his early days, and I also agree as a Real Madrid fan that they did not correctly value him, he dealt great with the arrivals of CR7 and Benzema he even came back stronger after that nasty back injury which kept him one season from playing, and that can be fatal for a carrer of a 21 year young player (that injury gave Benzema the time he needed to show his quality), as he said he and benzema had a healthy competition. Wish he staid longer at Real Madrid
@@FootballIconic Higuaín and Benzema played four seasons together at Real Madrid. While Karim scored 55 goals in 124 La Liga games _(0.44 per game),_ Gonzalo scored 75 goals in 112 matches _(0.67 per game)._ So Real sold the more effective striker, at that time. Overall Higuaín scored 107 goals in 190 La Liga matches _(0.56 per game)._
As you can see Higuaín was at his height at Real, when he left. Karim and Gonzalo were even born in the same year. Since Gonzalo Higuaín was the more effective striker during their time together at Real Madrid, it would've made more sense to sell Karim Benzema at this time. Well, it's all history! And Benzema went on to win the UCL for four times and is still a relevant player both at Madrid and in European football overall. It seems like Higuaín did the wrong thing with going to Napoli. One thing they both missed: Winning the World Cup.

As an Argentinean, I can say Higuaín was a curse to the national team. His main job as a striker was to score, and he had several chances in all 3 finals and he bungled them. Higuaín is Messi's curse. Had he performed (or at least scored), Messi would have a WC and 3 Copa Américas right now, and his haters would be dead silent. And before somebody comes with the usual diatribe about Messi not scoring in those finals, let me say, he performed well and actually carried the team, in spite of being roughed up pretty badly in all 3 games. His main job was playmaking, and he delivered. It was not for nothing that he won the trophy for best player of the competition. Argentina played better in all 3 games. It's funny that people make Messi responsible for losing that WC, and point out that had he scored, then he could be considered the GOAT. Goetze scored the winning goal. Does that make him the GOAT? Where is he today? It seems that people focus so much on the stars that they fail to remember that football is still a team sport. For all the accolades afforded to the stars, without their teams, they would not be stars. And this goes for everybody, including CR7, Maradona, Pele, and all the rest of them. Nobody has won a WC single-handedly.
It is worth noting that at the time Real Madrid was considering Higuain, Higuain was only allowed to join because he had the French nationality. Real Madrid had reached their quota of extra Europeans already. He was hired by Real Madrid as a French national not Argentinian.
16:12 more of these haters forget exactly THIS, should come to their senses and give credit, where credit is due. Higuain is easily on of the best strikers of the last decade. His numbers and accolades back it up. The reason why his reputation got tarnished is because Messi fans were too loud and tried to blame EVERYTHING on him despite Messi not showing up in some of these finals aswell. I mean, the only sitter he really missed was the one in the WC agains Germany and people don't realize how much pressure must've been on his shoulders considering the fact that it was an unexpected back pass by Kroos and Higuain only had few seconds to think ik order to score against the best goalkeeper of all time, Neuer. The other chances he missed weren't 100% chances in my opinion because the first chance he missed against Chile was from an extremely difficult angle and both 1v1 against the keepers weren't 100% sitters, in my opinion. And yeah, penalties are penalties. Even Messi missed A LOT of them, in the final too. So yeah, I'm not a Higuain fan or trying to justify his failures but I think people often times overreacted when it came to the chances he missed out of sympathy for Messi but like I said the Messi fans took it to another level, blamed unjustly EVERYTHING on him and thus tarnished his reputation in the eyes of many. Unlike many of the trolls used to actually watch him at Real, Juve and especially Naples scoring goals however he wanted and he was an absolute monster during these years.
Nah it was the clubs fans they kept trolling him as always and where did you get the idea that it was messi fans who put all the blame on him we just said he could've scored a lot of the easy goals in the matches that mattered but he didn't do it repeatedly and not saying messi was a bit ineffective sometimes in big matches but what do you expect when almost everyone marks messi
Don't put the blame on just Messi fans, as an Argentine i can tell you. This negative view of him is present on a big majority of people. Memes about him are made all the time, and I can tell you Messi and other players like Di Maria also got a lot of shit on all these years.
Bruh u said one easy chance? He had quite a few in couple of the finals Argentina played in copa also…..and also as a Madrid fan I can’t forget the empty goal he missed vs Lyon in the round of 16 of cl…man knows to crack in big moments and I was Higuains biggest fan back in the day
Best response I've seen here fam totally agree I think though if your tryna enter the world class rather than really really good class you have to find a way to finish one of his 3-4 major misses. That being said, like you said they were not sitters and a world cup final is the most immense pressure a player can face in the sport. Last time I checked, Messi didn't exactly do fantastic either in that final but the blind witnesses will just blame Higuain. Mans just like the video said, had honestly some type of curse. You will be blessed with a copious amount of goals every year except the 3-4 that set the legends from the greats sadly, No one really seemed to like him and we know how Madrid fans are to the players. The Napoli thing im sure he'd like a redo but still mans was a bagsman and the disrespect should calm down a bit.
Considering how HIguain and Benzema's careers panned out, I think it's pretty safe to say that Perez made the right decision to believe in Benzema and give HIguain the boot.
@@FootballIconic I disagree Benzema took years to reach 20 goals a season. It was after Ronaldo left that Benzema started justifying the trust. He just got the nod because Zidane is French. Mayoral and Morata were not much different in numbers
@@Timbone07 1. In his 2nd season in Madrid, Benzema scored 21 goals in all competitions 2. The sooner you accept that goals are not everything for modern day forwards, the better. Comparing a complete forward like Benzema to players who just finish and contribute little else is a great shame
@@reintaler6355 Higuain was getting 12 assists a season. I highly rate Benzema but let's not pretend that Higuain wasnt a complete forward. Real Madrid prioritized even Benzema over Ronaldo. You are being hypocritical since you say goals are not everything but Benzema is being highly rated for scoring a lot the last few years. He is simply the focal points of attacks and is no longer playing as a number 10 or as a foil to Ronaldo. Benzema admitted that he is more mature now too. Benzema destroyed Madrid while at Lyon. It was like an audition and he got his move to Madrid. Look at Jovic. Madrid 's team has been built to suit Benzema so much so that Jovic is made to look bad. He isn't. It's like saying to be a good player you must have Messi's attributes. That's just a weak argument
@@Timbone07 you said ''Benzema is being highly rated now for scoring lots of goals'' not me. I've never rated players like normies do. Nothing hypocritical. My argument is never about being ''the greatest (i.e. Messi level)''. I argue that there are degrees of ''good'', both horizontally and longitudinally. Higuain is a very good creative player sure, but Ibrahimovic and Benzema are even better. And Higuain's main selling point is starting to lose significance as more roles outside CF take on the goal-scoring responsibility, especially in big teams (City & Chelsea for example). Jovic could've worked had Hazard (the creative force) stayed healthy, but his style was never gonna last long-term unless he learned from Benzema.
As a Juve fan, I would keep a guy like this in the squad for games vs average teams and even top teams in league games. He keeps the score ticking. Other more talented players don't score as regularly week in week out. But for big european games (or major international games) it was better to have him used as a sub, which wasn't the case mostly as he'd keep a starting spot based on his regular season form.
Flrentino Perez reminds me of Vince Macmahon in the WWE. Vince loves only a few selected wrestlers, just bcs. Perez has that same attitude to his players.
I don’t think I’ve seen a forward/striker like higuain (apart from Messi and Ronaldo) that’s as skillful and intelligent. His playmaking ability was crazy considering that he’s an out and out striker. He said it himself that he played more like a center midfielder in Juve. If you watch his highlights especially from Juve and Napoli, it’s crazy to think that this guy was not appreciated more. His vision and passing were at times second to none. But it’s simply the chances he missed and bad luck. It kills me to this day that he missed those three chances with Argentina. I really hoped he would be the next batistuta for both Argentina and the serie a. His potential I think can be seen in his 36 serie goal haul in 2016, and his record making goal is simply legendary. To think that he missed 3 games due to suspension, he could’ve scored 40. One of the best strikers who was always on the cusp of glory. It’s a shame.
One of the greatest number 9 striker of all of all time in my opinion, but also one that had some really bad luck on his carreer, both in circumtances outside of his control and his own desicions, it's understandable if you want to win Trophies with a bigger team... but you don't just sign with the all time rivals of your previous Club, unless if you want to pull a Figo move.
It is not only the misses with national team .. just for example how he played all the matches in 2014 world cup .. so slow and not running which you can really notice specially in semi and the final
I wish you talked more about his time with Juventus . In his first two years he was the best player . Then after the loans even with Ronaldo existing he scored the most important goals . He didn’t get mocked until Ronaldo arrived but before that he didn’t . Those who watched the actual games for Napoli Madrid and Juventus know his true value and how good he was
People seem to disregard that Messi missed an equally big chance in the 2014 World Cup final. They just didn't want to blame him so used Higuain as a scape-goat.
As a Real Madrid fan, I always like Gonzalo. In his first years there were a lot of matches were the guy would just put the team on his back. But his problems was that in the most crucial moments he would almost always be missing. Then Karim Benzema started to not only get better, but also turn out to fit in better with Cristiano Ronaldo.
There's a certain type of footballers who just don't do anything right in the eyes of the fans. Higuain & Anelka come in mind
It's just sad
He was just unlucky....he was a very good player but he just couldn't score even the Easy chances in the matches that mattered
Doesn't help that he had at least a good chance at the 3 lost finals between 2014-2016 and he failed at all of them

True, Had he scored in WC, He'd have been a hero.
as a Napoli fan, seeing him score 36 goals, then leaving for the team we hate most and the team who dominated the league for years, it was heartbreaking. The fans loved him, he was like a god to us.

I remember back in late 00s when Real Madrid and media said that he's the next hot star. He's pretty good in statistics to be honest. The only thing that makes him abused and make fun of is his somehow rotten luck in decisive matches

Di Maria recently said in an interview that florentino basically kicked him from madrid despite Ronaldo and Ramos defending him

@Nupplopolis
“Limited poacher” means “pure striker” means he only has striking ability and final third movement, but no other attributes.
He was much better than inzaghi for sure. That's a true limited poacher.
Higuain is good during the regular season but this guy is anti-clutch in the CL and Internationally

If you always miss open goals in big games, what else can anybody say?
The biggest problem of this guy is on psychological level, he just couldn't handle the pressure.

That 2013 semifinal against Dortmund doomed him and Özil. His lack of “clutchness” is what made him disposable.

I was shocked when he failed every shot against Germany, I'm not even argentine but I cried when they lost that final
Please! A video about David Villa...
I know this video it's not about him, but RIP Sabella (Argentina's coach during 2014 WC)
We miss you
I respect his career but I will never forgive him for his misses in argentina finals
He almost made messi retire😭
We love Gonzalo. A big fighter. A big heart. A monster when on form. You have to understand technical players to appreciate his game.
As an Arsenal fan,I feel violated 😭😭
But we're the Kings of almost signing big names
Arsenal made Henry a big name. If it wasn't for Arsenal and Arsene Wenger, we maybe would never have had the chance to see his true genius. Imagine if he stayed in Juventus back then. We wouldn't even talk about him right now. Thank God there was Arsenal.
I like him, I dont rate him as a big player (because his lack of luck in big games) but I still rate him as one of the most prolific strikers of his generation.
Please make a video on Gabriel Batistuta
Yes just what I needed a 17 minute video About the player that cost Messi a World Cup and 2 Copa America’s.
Exactly !
what's crazy is if he scored the winning goals in the world cup and copa america he would've been in top 4000 of all time
There are allot of footballers out there, I think 20 is a massive stretch.
@@mufaromawere4819 ur right
@@mufaromawere4819 is this better?
From 20 to 4000 😂
@@FootballIconic haahahahah
If you never got to see 2009/10 Gonzalo Higuain, you missed out on pure magic.
Great player apart from the big games
Hes good in the big meals tho
@@quepessi5890 got'em 🤣
Nahhh, he scored in plenty of big games. I'd say he's not a finals guy.
What a great video mate! Keep it up
As a Napoli fan (from USA)...
Yeah not cool Gonzalo, not cool.
We were so close, and he sold out and took the easy route.
But yeah he got kinda screwed over everywhere else he went. Napoli got their monies worth at least
Can’t forget his last goal for Napoli, overhead kick and I’m pretty sure that sealed his golden boot, his prime was better than most strikers today will probably get too
Moving to a rival was bad but he wanted to win. Can’t blame him. But the fat memes is fully deserved. As a professional in sport myself I can say that it is a responsibility to stay in shape, regardless of u what to or not.
He was amazing at madrid
Yes he scored 121 goals for Real Madrid
Fantastic video, not many would bother to show the other side of higuains career
Speaking of Perez and argentines: Di Maria also suffered some weird shit despite having his best years at that time ._.
P.s. We need a DEL PIERO video
Sorry i am late i was trying to get the dose but now i am going to watch this video twice. Love your videos thanks for cheering me up.
Yo!
Video idea: is Serie A still considered a top league?
Since allot more teams are getting better in serie A, I think it's competitive again.
Not yet, but it's definitely improving again.
@@Jim-so3zm what do you mean "not yet" . Its the third best league in the world.
2:29 that finish was sensational wow!
Higuaín and Messi : Great for clubs
Cursed for Argentina
Messi gave one of the greatest performances by an Individual Player in a Football Tournament in Copa 2021…so no Messi is no longer cursed with Argentina..

Copa America Trophy
No one in history of Football has gotten all 4 of these achievements in an International Tournament (WC/Euro/Copa).
Pelé, Maradona, CR7, Ronaldo, Cruyff etc…no one was able to achieve this…apart from Messi
I am Argentine and I vividly remember his misses in the World Cup and copa America. It was extremely painful at the time and still is, and I hated him for it. But at the same time I can’t deny he was one of the greatest strikers in the world during his prime at Madrid Napoli and Juve, and if he hadn’t missed 4 or 5 important chances he would be a legend of the sport. The hate he received from the Argentine fans was not deserved. The Argentine fans are amongst the most toxic in the world. They are the reason many great coaches like Diego Simeone won’t dare coach the national team and the reason half our team nearly retired from the national team after the 2016 copa America loss, INCLUDING Messi. Imagine where we would be if Messi had retired. No 2021 copa America. Unfortunately Higuain let us down but he’s human and the nerves got to him on the big stage.
Make a video on Kaka
Great shout!
Yoo awesome video dude, nice work (Could you tell me the song in the intro of the Ole video pls)
Yo brother! Thanks! All songs used are in the description of the videos!
