I’ve always been a Barcelona fan. But, I’m also a football fan, so there always was a little affection developed towards some teams (thanks to some players particularly). Lampard made me feel a side affection for Chelsea, i was young so i didn’t understand why. But now i know it was primarily for the way he played, he always seemed to make the right decision (especially in front of goal). Making successive successful decisions under pressure in football, is the most underrated ability, yet the most important. And that’s what separates Messi from the others, and that’s what made Lampard score more goals an be successful (his IQ tells it).
The best midfielder in Premier League history, also holds the record for most consecutive Premier League appearances for an outfield player not including goalkeepers...
Because of his goal scoring, people end up ignoring the rest of his game to some extent. Like the assist to Ramires against Barca was gorgeous. He was solid defensively and had very good passing range.
Been a liverpool fan since I learned how to lace a boot, but Frank Lampard was always one of my favorite players. The man just made playing football and scoring goals look easy. A true genius.
A legend is all I'm gonna say. He's the reason Chelsea is my 2nd team. Barça (Pep's Barça to be specific) made me love the game. And Leo of course. But Super Frank was one hell of a player. Nothing fancy, simple football, but lethal.
He is the reason I am a football fan. The first game I ever watched was England-France Euro 2004 when he scored the opening goal. I became a Chelsea fan and have loved him ever since. His penalty against Liverpool in the UCL after his mom's death was emotional beyond words. I hold no ill-will towards him as Chelsea manager, he did what no Roman-era Chelsea manager did before and successfully elevated youth to the first team. SUPER FRANK.
You forgot one very very crucial information. Frank was scoring all these goals during a very infamous time where Chelsea used to known more as a defensive team.
Popular for his goalscoring and assisting stats, but his performance against Barcelona both home & away was just unbelievable. A masterclass in defensive work & playmaking vision.

Yes..the reason he's compared to Bruno is because he plays as an attacking midfielder..attacking midfielders are expected to be among the goals..Scholes was a defensive midfielder and still scored goals..analysis should always be based on positions of play..There's no big deal about Frank been a good goal scoring midfielder..It's his position of trade

Thank you Super Frank. Your story brings tears to my eyes because I grew up watching Chelsea with Lampard in midfield. It was just magical, in moments no one would ever believe he always came through. Really proud to be a Chelsea supporter. Lampard is really a good sport, a good professional and what a player should really be.
Your videos are so extremely well done and entertaining, it’s clear you put in a great deal of hard work to bring us this great content, and for that, I just want to say thank you Football Iconic. This has become my favorite channel on RUclips by a mile! That said, it’s nice to see a video that does Frank Lampard justice, the man was a true footballer and a class act, and a big part of why I was drawn to Chelsea when I began watching football myself.
Lampard looked up to Zola, his work ethic of staying a few hours after training came from gianfranco because he stayed back for a few hours training his finishing and free kicks
Lampard was a midfield striker, a great hybrid, along with being a hard worker, decent pass accuracy and speed, his weakness was leadership skills and charisma. Gerrard had Charisma, Leadership skills and just as good pass accuracy and speed but he wasn't as good in front of a goal as Lamps. Scholes is a mixture of the two, he has good pass accuracy, field awareness leadership skills and decent in front of a goal but he was the slowest of the 3. Those 3 together are the best midfielders in history by a land slide.
I remember when he came to life at Chelsea, couldn't believe how a midfielder could be scoring so many goals. He was just blasting them in from all over the place.
This man is an absolute legend I miss him so much, he was a beast, he has everything a football player needs, so powerful, mad strike, mental pass, and everything else. We owe him respect, he was one of the best football player to have ever walked on a pitch
I would argue that for most of Scholes' career he played a very similar position to Frank Lampard. The majority of Scholes fans who only saw him as an old man sitting in front of the back four spraying passes assume he did that his entire career but he only dropped back into that role in his thirties when his legs started to go as most players do. For the majority of his career he was playing as an attacking central midfielder similar to Lamps or as a number ten for a bit when Veron came in. Scholes spent a lot of time on the field in the oppositions half in his twenties and was probably known more for his goals than for his passing back then. I'm sure he still found his teammates when they needed him to but Beckham was always known as the main passer in the team back then. He was the go to guy for that kind of thing.
Lampard was criminally underrated. He was far from flashy but he was ridiculously efficient and consistent. He had amazing passing/vision, very good positionally, high IQ, and tactically aware. I think his playmaking was most underrated. He was creative in an unorthodox way
Great video. The title had me with smoke coming out of my ears.Being a Chelsea fan for 61 years. Then I watched the video.Brilliant,Thank you so much 💜💜💜💜
Lampard when the league is on the line: scores two goals and wins the match and league for his team. Gerrard when the league is on the line: S L I P (against Chelsea ironically)
An absolutely amazing put and thought out video, really makes me appreciate Frank more as a Chelsea fan. Thanks for the great content, keep it going! :)
I started to support Chelsea in 2007 when I was 11 old and let me tell you growing up watching Lampard I never worried when he had the ball.I can t thank him enough for everything he did for the club.
Harry Redknapp had it right. "This boy is going to the very top"--he was a bit of a manufactured player, not dazzlingly skillful early on but he just kept getting better and better--also incredibly durable. At one point held the Premier League consecutive appearances record (think he still does), almost never came off, & probably covered more ground than anyone on the pitch. Plus had that amazing eye for goal and the amazing late run.
My favorite player. I couldn't go on supporting my favorite club after he left, it just didn't mean as much, anymore. After he retired, I felt a little dead inside. I still watch but I no more have a favorite player or a team to support. I still remember the serious rivalry and fights between Manu and Chelsea fans during my senior years at my school. Number 8, forever. Lawrencian, Batch of o2 - 11.
I started following chelsea because of Gudjohnsen, I remain a Chelsea fan to this day because of Frank Lampard, it was a privilige growing up and watch him play with that golden Chelsea team💙
crazy how england had an abundance of centre midfield talent, and now centre midfield is england's weakspot. imagine having Lampard, Gerrard, Scholes, Carrick, Hargreaves, Beckham(played centre mid at real madrid). and now having to rely on Rice and Philips.
Hey I just wanna ask you if you have any plans to make a "How good was Ruud gullit actually" video any where in the future I think it would be cool and great content as always 👍🐐
If I weren't at the game on Saturdays I used to do my shopping on the North End Road, all the markets stools would have the game on their radio, match days in the area always had a fantastic atmosphere. I would always hear the tannoy at home games after Frank scored. "GOALSCORER FOR CHELSEA, NUMBER 8, FRANK LAMPARD". And the whole market would cheer. Great times. LAMPARD IS PROPER CHELS, AND A PROPER LEGEND. 🔵
Different level of player imo… his profile does not exist in the game anymore. He could literally do EVERYTHING in the midfield. Goal scoring, goal creating, passing, shooting, GAME INTELLIGENCE, defending, big game moments.. unreal

He was the most real and complete players when u compare to today players...He was a man and genius.Totally underated only just because he played for Chelsea... He is a idol and a true proffesional... Dunno how much he would be valued now
He's one of my favorite players ever. I think he is overlooked as far as redefining a role both in English football (which up until about a decade ago was always behind tactically other than 2 or 3 top teams) and in football overall. He was this modern 8 figure that's not entirely a CM/CDM 6 nor a full free-roaming 10, but he was a combination of both. Always incredibly professional both inside and outside the pitch, never scared of opposition or odds, never wrinkled against the responsibility to lead or the responsibility to make back a goal difference. There are few English players I put in my shortlist of favorite players ever and Lampard is right up there over other English players. To consider he was 2nd behind PRIME Ronaldinho in 2005 is just insane... had England played more modern football instead of 4 4 fucking 2 and Jurassic football, Lampard would've been considered an even bigger legend. Now if we discuss Scholes vs Gerard vs Lampard, Lampard was my favorite, Gerard was a vocal leader, Scholes had some grit, talent and clutch performances... I still put Lampard above them just out of personal preference.
Super Frankie was the reason I started watching football, started supporting Chelsea and after 20 years… I think premier league has not seen a midfielder with the consistency of lamps
England gk and forward is the bottleneck. I mean on mid they have name like Lampard, Gerrard, Beckham, Joe Cole, Scholes, etc on back they have Terry, Johnson, Ashley Cole, Neville, Ferdinand, etc On forward best they have is rooney. Owen already too old, the other back up is crouch, and Sturridge in later years. The GK us the worst bottleneck, when italy have Buffon, Spain have casillas, german have kahn-neuer, england use Paul Robinson, David James
If you want to find your best XI. Lampard should be selected into your team if you want to double the score. Guy was a goal machine. Doesn't matter if there are Xavi, Iniest, Modric, Pirlo, Busquet or whoever. Lampard should be the 1st to get selected cuz he scored more than those great players listed above.
I think the fact so many doubted him early because of his dad and suggested "preferential treatment" is one of the reasons he became so good. He had a chip on his shoulder from the beginning of his career and he surely wanted to prove all those doubters wrong.
Simply the best. He was not just a goalscoring midfielder, he also contributed in the build up plays and even in defence when necessary. He was the complete package. If he was from Spain or Germany he would be regarded even highly.
He made fantasy premiere league easy. I had him & terry every season, lots of guaranteed point from him. You know he doesn't misses games, and would score/assist every other game.

Super Frank💙. Things didn't work out as planned for his managerial career so far but he will always be a legend no matter what.
He just lacks the experience but he sure got eyes on finding good players
needs tactical experience
He still has time. It might be good for him as the door will always be open once Abramovich is tired by the lack of Premier League/Champions League
Aha mate, Messi and Lampard are my two favourite footballers
Funny because Barcelona wanted him in 2006 to play alongside Xavi and Iniesta
Well said bro.
He was basically only known as that guy who was Frank Lampard’s son (before he burst the scene)
Who?
@@kirtonphilip1234 Frank Lampard (senior)

Lampard was world class.
For me top 1
I like it when you stress "from the midfield" every time. Lampard was a real goat
The best midfielder in Premier League history, also holds the record for most consecutive Premier League appearances for an outfield player not including goalkeepers...
2nd best behind Steven Gerard
@UCwQT6dTT5pngXIHR0HYYFYQ Did you even Watch the clip? He is one of the best midfielder of all time, eat a cake fatty
@@TheresaNorrisMcDuffie gerrard was only hyped because he was the best player for Loserpool. Legendless club with shit players.
Because of his goal scoring, people end up ignoring the rest of his game to some extent. Like the assist to Ramires against Barca was gorgeous. He was solid defensively and had very good passing range.
He also dispossessed Messi and swung a cross field pass for Ramires to assist Drogba in this tie's first leg.
Been a liverpool fan since I learned how to lace a boot, but Frank Lampard was always one of my favorite players. The man just made playing football and scoring goals look easy. A true genius.
Yes, Lampard was world class. All in all I think Gerrard was a better player though. He just didnt have as good team mates as Frank.
Lampard was genuinely world class. His attitude is proof that hard work pays off, everything he achieved came from hard work.
Frankly speaking, Lampard is one of the PL greatests.
Super Frankly speaking
Popular for his goalscoring and assisting stats, but his performance against Barcelona both home & away was just unbelievable. A masterclass in defensive work & playmaking vision.
His consistency is underrated
For someone to be so good at so many things for so long is just unreal.
Consistency is greatness if you think about it. To be good for so long is a thing many fail at
@@MVPBallingD.Rose96 He was great indeed.
This midfielding talent rivals most strikers in goal scoring ability
Love all your videos so far. I'll just show them to my mates who like to loosely use the term "overrated" without backing up their claims. Awesome job keep it up!
Absolutely brilliant video!
Btw, have you thought about making a video on Petr Cech? He is arguably the best ever goalkeepers of the Premiere Leaugue era, and yet he is disrespected all the time.
Your writing is remarkable, such wonderful flow.
Can't believe people compare Bruno to him , players like Lampard Drogba hazard etc are so disrespected
@@Zaibatsualgo Lampard wasn't playing as high as Bruno and did was not the focal point of the team
Lampard was way deeper did all the CM work while Bruno is a CAM and always has the ball at his feet
@@jadenjoseph4243 i get your point..I am only saying that the presence of people like Makelele and later Mikel Obi enabled him go forward most times..then, his goal scoring ability becomes obvious..statistics many times could be bias for some certain players and against certain players..do you recall that same squad had destroyers like Makelele, Ballack, etc just like Kante today who did the dirty jobs but nobody talks about them?
@@Zaibatsualgo Wasn't Scholes at times deployed as a second striker?
@@rohithraman6488 that's depending on tactical tweaks..but, he is a defensive midfielder by trade..only Carrick does a similar job and even at that still scored a good chunk of goals
Great review of Super Frank’s career, thank you!
This guy was amazing,i enjoyed watching him play and i am a united fan,go figure
Do some underrated players, Football Iconic! Love your vids man.
Yo man! Cheers, got lots of ideas coming up
back with a banger
As a Chelsea fan I just cried seeing this video 😭
I’ve been watching you for ages and just realised you only have 50k subs wtf you make such high quality videos you deserve millions.
Lampard is one of the greatest midfielder in football history, not just PL history
My all time favourite player.
Much love.
Great video, man.
Lampard was a beast! Sometimes overlooked, but never forgotten.
This man is an absolute legend I miss him so much, he was a beast, he has everything a football player needs, so powerful, mad strike, mental pass, and everything else. We owe him respect, he was one of the best football player to have ever walked on a pitch
Frank is England best box to box player i have ever seen in the EPL.
You forgot to say period.
One of the best midfielders ever IMO.. had everything in his locker to be a proper Midfielder.
Lampard was criminally underrated. He was far from flashy but he was ridiculously efficient and consistent. He had amazing passing/vision, very good positionally, high IQ, and tactically aware. I think his playmaking was most underrated. He was creative in an unorthodox way

In my opinion, best CM in Premier League history
He has the record for outfield players. I believe the record is held by a goalkeeper...but that's also insane!
love the "Fat Frank " image you made, hillarious! Im a HUGE Frank Lampard fan
Number 8, forever.

well, I subbed - this was really well produced, and you have a good sense of humor.. keep at it, my man!
Beckham was good but not at the level of Lampard and Gerrard
Hey I just wanna ask you if you have any plans to make a "How good was Ruud gullit actually" video any where in the future I think it would be cool and great content as always 👍🐐
Great shout, we never know what the future holds! Cheers!
Goal scoring, goal creating, passing, shooting, GAME INTELLIGENCE, defending, big game moments.. unreal
150 IQ. Lampard has something that most ppl underrate. Intelligent decision making & creativity to go along with his work rate. He is consistent while gerrard is inspirational & scholes is magic.
I love your videos about early 2000's players.
Quite underrated .. possible cause he played for Chelsea not MU or LFC

😂😂 4 4 f**cking 2...😂😂😂 absolutely on point though.
Hey man vid was great as always! Could you make a video on Claude makélele I would love to see that much love bro hope you keep growing
Super Frankie was the reason I started watching football, started supporting Chelsea and after 20 years… I think premier league has not seen a midfielder with the consistency of lamps
They used to call him Frank Lampard’s son but now I am pretty sure they call his father Frank Lampard’s dad. What a way to prove your doubters wrong.
Amazing career, incredible how England had a player of that calibre yet we never won anything we didn't even qualify for Euro 08!
England gk and forward is the bottleneck. I mean on mid they have name like Lampard, Gerrard, Beckham, Joe Cole, Scholes, etc on back they have Terry, Johnson, Ashley Cole, Neville, Ferdinand, etc
On forward best they have is rooney. Owen already too old, the other back up is crouch, and Sturridge in later years.
The GK us the worst bottleneck, when italy have Buffon, Spain have casillas, german have kahn-neuer, england use Paul Robinson, David James

Makes me disgusted that there are even Chelsea fans who hate on this man.
Watching a gritty football game then in the middle of a commentary you hear..Lampaard....an insane goal from outside the box...😢
I think the fact so many doubted him early because of his dad and suggested "preferential treatment" is one of the reasons he became so good. He had a chip on his shoulder from the beginning of his career and he surely wanted to prove all those doubters wrong.

Making Super Frank as my footballer idol was never a wrong idea
Simply the best. He was not just a goalscoring midfielder, he also contributed in the build up plays and even in defence when necessary. He was the complete package. If he was from Spain or Germany he would be regarded even highly.
he was highly intelligent
the best player to have come in to attack from midfield and score the goals
He made fantasy premiere league easy. I had him & terry every season, lots of guaranteed point from him. You know he doesn't misses games, and would score/assist every other game.
